putting a quad-core with full Hd graphics would put mackbook pros out of the line for apples' products, no one would want to buy them anymore. also it sounds more like a loss than a gain, they would stall it at least for 2 more years for more revenue or longer.

nope, it's confirmed we won't have ipad3. next gen will be 2S. upgrades will be similar to iphone line up. if you are a real fan of apple & always follows product upgrades, you'd know what i'm talking about. no retina display either, it's meant for smaller display just like what Jobs had said. high res display will just kill the battery life which IMO, apple would never want to do. realistic expectation would be full hd display. quad core will be for ipad "4". Thanks!

@Rman45215 So pointless that my iPad saved me over $800 in textbooks during the last two years of college by simply downloading the PDF's and syncing to my iBookshelf. I suppose my biggest complaint is carrying one pointless device around, rather than all of those heavy textbooks. It was also awful to get an A in college algebra and trig thanks to using the iPad application SpaceTime on tests. Pointless thing!

I think you are spot on the specifications of the iPad 3 except the amount of RAM. Apple don't really put a lot of RAM in their iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch. The iPad 3 I think will have a quad core CPU, retina display, improved battery, slightly better cameras and 1GB of RAM.

I dont see any reason to buy new ipads, i have the ipad 1 and it does what i need perfectly for tablet. Great apps, quick web browsing. Unless you need a camera or a front facing camera i dont see the need in buying a new ipad. Me personally i would just reccomend buying a refurbished 32 gig ipad first generation and save 200 bucks but hey thats just me.....
