  • please what is the song that starts at 1:43

  • @proudnigerian7 Hi :) The song is called 'Umqombothi' by Yvonne Chaka Chaka...it is on youtube as well :)

  • you spelt Rwanda wrong....

  • how is the name of the first song

  • man my Geography Teacher told us about this today and i get to watch it Luv u man ( No homo )

  • i personally think this is a beutiful made movie ive seen it as a class i personally love it/would buy it <3

  • @megahustlenflowspare LUCKY im in the 7th Grade we cant watch it at school -.-

  • @DJFuego13 lol

  • This movie shows a lot about the real nature of who we are as human beings...there's always that hidden side to us all

  • You don't know me.You don't know what you are talking about.

  • It is really easy to divide and rule. Colonize a country, give a minority group inside that country a better position to make sure you don't face them united against yourself and you can colonize more since you need less ppl and resources from your own country to do the dirty work. And you can't blame them for accepting a higer position every ethnic/religious group would do that if they faced a superior power.

  • All the issues between the hutu' and tutsis stem from years of conflict and oppression , but when the Hutu's won a majority in the govt and then the president was killed, the interahamwe were utilized by radio hate messages to kill tutsi's and once they realized all the whites wanted to do was leave and that the UN is worthless and never does anything good, they were free to hack and kill as many as they could in the time given.

  • ~sigh~..... im mentally prepared =_= theres always a dumbass racist troll on these types of videos......dumbasses do everyone a favor just stfu

  • great movie, sadly thisfilm havent recieved any oscar awards, holy shit if spielberg takes a movie about jews holocaust , they will give oscars, screw hollywood

  • @TheConvict85 angry filmwatcher is angry

  • @TheConvict85 Because no one cares about all these "niggers" running around Africa. That was the exact UN response "there are too many of them anyway" was their exact words. Look up General Romeo Dlere

  • @Arelak exactly

  • @TheConvict85 First of all, most people who were there in Rwanda view this movie as a very rosy/feel-good film that cleans up a lot of the horror so it can reach a wider audience. Watch "Shake Hands With the Devil" "Beyond the Gates/Shooting Dogs" for authenticity. This film didn't win an Oscar, but it did receive widespread recognition/attention which is a hell of a lot more important than competing with a holocaust film (which is equally important).

  • It makes me sick when they drive over all the dead people thinking its the start of a river. :(

  • I really wanted to kill hutus

  • @TheHeavensSpear thats productive. It isnt hutus or tutsis or jews or germans. Its humanity, humans do this all over the world, and as much as you wouldnt like to admit it, it is a rare person who can rise above the chaos at times like this. Probablity states, especially with that attitude, you would be among the peretrators

  • What's the name of the song in the beginning?

  • @sverigegrabben The song is Yvonne Chaka Chaka - Umqombothi (South Africa). Enjoy! d(*_*)b

  • @sverigegrabben The song is Yvonne Chaka Chaka - Umqombothi (South Africa). ENJOY! d(-_-)b

  • Would the Hutus have massacred the Tutsi if the Belgians hadnt Colonized the country in the first place & Tutsi minority have collaborated with them to subjugated he Hutu?

  • Blank* LOL

  • All of the phony smiling Bill Clinton did with African Americans and Africans acting like he cared so much, he really showed how much he cared by turning his back on Rwanda. What a phony.

  • @blackra4 the problem is the way black act in the west people think blacks are generally like this but of course in africa there is no attitude like like rap bullshit there nice in africa not north africa but proper black africa.

  • you spelled Rwanda wrong

  • Rwanda *

  • When we don't stick it's nose in...we are accused of being cowards and go in when it profits...yet when we stick it's nose in...we are accused of empire building. I rather have the UN thrown out of New York and make them set up shop somewhere else. The UN had done nothing to benefit the U.S. or anywhere else. It is nothing but a worthless organization. I'm all for pulling troops overseas and tell the world not to look any more handouts from the U.S. government and it's people anymore.

  • @Hperman09 the RAND corporation has found that the UN's peace keeping forces have had a higher success rate than the United State's own attempts. And for your consideration, the United Nations does not exist to benefit the United States. It exists to benefit humanity.

  • @HaoWenXiang And the UN didn't do anything in Rwanda, Bosnia, Kosovo, and enforincg regulation against Iraq in the 1990s. I doubt when you say UN sucess rate is good. The UN need some serious work. Look at UN efforts in Bosnia. To me, the UN to the USA is shit because i rather have them kicked out of NY and USA and make tem set up shop somewhere else. It's very useless.

  • Such an amazing film!

  • why do you rambo help ?

  • This is why I say any hate is evil. If you are guided by hate... get a life you shit.

  • Before this movie, I didn't know Rwanda even had hotels.

So they suport Mass-imigration were any terrorist can walk into your contery. Attack the only democratic contery but suport Saudi arabia that stone women. and so on.

Do the earth a good thing. And dont join. Join another grup.

  • 5:14-6:00 that's how much Africa has pried in clan country or what ever they belive in

  • You spelled Rwanda wrong.

  • My teacher was talking bout this movie in world geography so yeh!! We are talking bout rawanda in it! I'm in 8th grade

  • i saw this movie in my grade 9 first semester. we watched it after we read shattered

  • @mrscutiechick15 wow same only we watched the movie first then read the book.

  • First song is Mama Arira by Afro Celt Sound System and Dorothe Munyaneza

  • What is the name of the first song?

  • @mindyourbizok the song is umqombothi by yonne chacka, greetings friend

  • One of if not my best movie till this day GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anybody know the song in the beginning of the movie .

  • @chioma231 why not just google the lyrics like a normal person

  • Comment removed

  • @Halldisa emmmm no need to be rude and nasty. i just asked a question its either you say yes or no or rather shut your mouth. and yes a normal person do ask for name of song if they don't know it . being rude is sooo unattractive, immature and uncalled for. so next time if you do not know an answer to a question just shut your mouth.

  • Read "Season of Blood: Rwandan Journey" by Fergal Keane. Perhaps it will cast a bit of light onto this event.

  • HUTU POWA!!!!!!!!!!

  • greetings from Poland. just wanted to say, that this kind of tragedy can't be accepted anymore. this is another example, when colonialists creates hatres between brothers, owners of the land.

My country, Poland, had the same genocide between 1939-1947. at that time, ukrainian nazi colaborators killed up to 300 000 polish innocent civilians on polish eastern frontiers. No one wants to talk about this, because Brussels want ukraine to join EU, and we have shuted mouths.read about OUN UPA bandits

  • @hokejfanRSA perhaps you would also like to remind everyone of what the poles did to the germans living in east prussia in 1944-45...

  • @feastguy101

you have proved to me, how huge ignorant you are. Poles did nothing to east prussia people. what are you trying to say? it seams, that you totally have no idea how was it. in 1944 germas civilians run away because the front moved from east to west, and germans didn't want to be catched by russians. who started the war? who killed many polish civilians? who destroyed our capital City? who shot polish inteligence? german nazi's ad russians and ukrainians (russyns)

  • Comment removed

  • @hokejfanRSA and in 1945, who helped the russians cleanse prussia of germans? who helped the germans to wipe out the jews of warsaw in 44? don't hold your people or any other in virtue, everyone has a bloody past...

  • @feastguy101

i am really sorry for your blindness. who cleaned prussia of germans? of course russians. take a book into your hands and learn at least a basic history. nevetheless what's prussia? this is native polish ground stolen by a tricky german plays.

you are lucky, that you exist. because of germans 2 world wars happended. merry x-mas

  • @RSAhokejfan like konigsberg is native russian ground? go look at a map of europe in the 1600's and you learn some fucking history.

i'm jewish, i don't celebrate christmas. happy new year.

  • @hokejfanRSA

the URA were completely distinct from the Galizien-SS. But you are, in essence, correct in your assessment.

  • @hokejfanRSA So true. Colonial history divides brothers. To bad the Belgians did't believe that.

  • @hokejfanRSA you are lying, this never happend in poland. stop spreading false information and hatred.

  • @hokejfanRSA your country is shit get out of england we don,t need you want you,all the building site jobs that used to go to the northern english for centuries has been taken by your mickey mouse country god save hitler.

  • It's hard to think that while all this was happening, Immaulee Ilibegiza prayed every single night for God to protect her.... You Are A True Saint Immaulee...

  • @bobfari If we give god the credit for saving some people shouldn't we blame him for all this happening in the first place?

  • 4:16 Oops! You shouldn't have seen that. What? No, we will peacefully handle those materials. It's just some stuff for in the kitchen, you know? To cook, haha!

  • Does anyone know if the music at 5:15 is on the soundtrack? and what is the name of it

  • @bobfari

music at 5,15 is only a pro-Hutu, anti-Tutsi song... why would anyone buy a song which is about killing an African people??

  • I know many people that died rip Ambofut

  • my class and i wached this is world studies class

  • what tht song name at the beguine ???

  • @Jayreid6282 Yvonne Chaka Chaka - Umqombothi

  • @bobfari The song is UMQOMBOTHI by Yvonne Chaka Chaka

  • What's the name of the song that starts at 1:38 does anyone know?

  • thank you so much for posting this video.

  • Thanks for uploading this. I just wrote a research paper about the genocide and I found this movie interesting and wanted to watch it again cause those fuckers at my locale library charged me 15 bucks for returning it a few days late.

  • 1:34STAY ALERT WATCH YOU NIPPLES !!! LOL HAHAHAH

  • 1:34 STAY ALERT WATCH YOUR NIPPLES!!! HAHAHAHA LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Read Immaculee Ilibagiza's book "Left to Tell". It ought to change how people view the Rwandan genocide.

  • @nicf17 exactly.

  • Really emotional movie.

  • Best African movie i've seen

  • @gojetafu LMAO! We didnt get kicked out, WE LEFT! There is a difference, a huge difference. If we wanted to we could have stayed, brought in more troops. amd slaughtered the whole lot of you. We didnt do this because we didnt want to die in someone elses war.

  • @LordWellington15

Leaving is even worse than being kicked out. You should be ashamed.

  • @nicf17 Are you that stupid? We left because you stupid Leftists f*cked up what could have been some great countries. You should be the one ashamed of himself.

  • @LordWellington15

    How did leftists fuck up?

  • @nicf17 sigh... Another child who get into arguments in which he knows nothing of. If you look at the former country of Rhodesia(now Zimbabwe) you will see how prosperous it was. It was a right-wing society run by Whites and Blacks. IT eventually became one of the most prosperous countries in Africa. But soon your leftists friends at the UN gave all the power to the blacks and the jackass Mugabe and now look at it. Zimbabwe is just one bug hell hole.

  • @LordWellington15 hahaha cowards.

  • @edwardlover23001 Um no, if we were too stay you would have been massacred. Give us 48 hours without the media and all the Blacks in Africa will be gone.

  • @gojetafu Ah, tell me again where we were beaten? Cause it wasnt here. We left Rwanda cause you scum couldnt get your act straight.

  • @LordWellington15 YOU NEED HELP.

  • @TiffanyMarmalade And you need to pick up a book and get into the real world.

  • @gojetafu Uh, and we succeeded. Almost every part of the world was colonized, and guess what? When we colonized you poor bastards you had peace and prosperity. Then you cried and whined for independence so we gave it to you, and look what you guys end up doing, murdering your fellow countrymen. If you think this is false, just read up on Rhodesia.

  • @gojetafu Bro??? LOL! the Europeans never tried to take over that failed organization. The UN is a shite organization who does nothing, which is why the Europeans formed NATO

  • @LordWellington15 what does me picking up a book have to do with u bein a stone cold racist? talk to me, please. i find ur stupidity quite amusing lol

  • @TiffanyMarmalade Because you clearly dont know history, and you clearly dont know how the world works, and you clearly ont understand the UN and how a real military should operate.

  • @LordWellington15 And wat's ur opinion of how the world operates and how a military should operate? What does knowing have anything to do about accepting racism as a way of life?

  • we watched these movie in social studies and I just loved it so I looked it up on youtube thx for posting it:) 7th grader

  • See how nice countries are when the Whites rule. Take Rhodesia for example. One of the greatest countries in Africa, ruled by Whites and Blacks. But once again the UN cant have it that way, so they give it to Mugabe and his left-wing nut cases and now look at it. Lets face it, the African countries were far more prosperous under Colonial rule.

  • Belgium FTW

  • Every kiss begins with K (kill).

Everyone should stop buying diamonds so these poor African kids can stop getting killed or gets their hand cutt off.

    -Copy and Past-

  • thanks for your time/upload

  • my fiancee is Rwandan. He was 4 when this happened and he was half hutu and half tutsi. Many of his family was killed for being tutsi and some for hiding tutsi. I dont know how he handled such a thing at age 4 and i dont want to ask questions about it.

  • i understand some of wat the hutus loonys r saying, but they speak only half truths, hate the belgians and missonaries who caused the rift and problems and the murderers who killed all the innocents

  • whats the opening song called

  • the only reason that no-one intervened is because rwanda has no recources thats the one and only reason so many people died

  • @painlov13 Yup, the only time the U.S, or other major nations intervene is when they can benefit or profit from the underdoog

  • @painlov13 but other people were fully capable of bringing resources, powerful world superpowers like the US, Britain and France. there's no excuse for this genocide, except our own.

  • @painlov13 the UN was there, with there soldiers, and there guns, and still did nothing to stop people from being slaughtered, yet the UN nowdays starts new wars in the Middle East and the president of my country goes along with it without even consulting cogress or the citizens of my country. The UN is dumping more depleted uranium munitions across Libya. just like Vietnam and the use of Agent Orange. Chemical, radiological, biological warfare with no true clear objective for being in this war.

  • @FlamingLavaOwl the un is like somebody's 5th grade brother they're a total douche and will start abunch of shit but you (us) has to go in and do all the work and finish everything so you're little brother doesn't get hurt

  • @painlov13 Indeed however that's not always the case. Take the DRC, the war there has raged for 10 years and there is no sign of it stopping; the DRC is sitting on the largest resourse deposits in the world, enough to make it the richest country in the world yet no one is stepping in In any major way in the bloodiest war since WW2.

  • @Fablemerc The reason for that is because the west did already intervene and already has control of most of those resources. Way back in the 60's when DRC just gained its independence Patrice Lumumba was elected as president however the west labeled him as socialist and the Belgians and CIA overthrew him sent the country into a civil war and replaced him with the brutal dictatorship of Mobutu

  • This movie is not a real story its fake. Rusesabagina is a liar!

  • hey Guys I have essay on this movie about how it affects the historical globalization can u help plss

  • I'm doing my extended essay on this!! (: Love this movie. Love reading about it.

  • They are expecting someone to help. If you know people are getting mass murdered, why not do something. The world isn't sensitive and people like Elie Wiesel believed people would sensitize after the holocaust. So it is pathetic to expect help after getting slaughtered for the way you are? What if you were getting beaten and murdered, wouldnt you want help. The UN should have done more as it is their job. Peace keeper or peace maker, They are supposed to deal with international affairs.

  • oh btw people the song playing at 1:38 is called umqombothi by yvonne chaka chaka its in zulu

  • wtf is the "1911" thingy for?! :D ... nothing like piano music to wake a person up at 7am on a Friday :D

  • @carrotsRgood4you

    April Fools Day!

  • I was 14 when this happened. When my mom explained what was going on there I creid so much and utterly hopeless. On a positive note the country is rebuilding itslef. There are quite a few NGOs that have counseling services, schools and career development there. The children (now adults) from this catastrophe have opportunities to go to university and better their lives. The saddest part is that this could've been prevented, but no one cared enough until it was too late.

  • nice

  • Buena musica

  • ok

  • hola olie een ramp voor een land

  • if rwanda has oil, then the west would have intervened and stop the genocide... look at libya now.

  • the RTLM radio intro is a complete fake. the filmmakers should've played the real clips to let people feel that seething hatred. also, they forgot about captain mbaye diagne who was a real hero also.

he was a UN soldier based at the hotel that saved many people also driving around Kigali on his own, somehow charming his way past the Interahamwe checkpoints.

  • Sad how naive Paul was about the realities surrounding him, specifically the growing hatred towards the Tutsi. It's always the little things.

  • I know I'm gonna sound Like a Douchebag... but whats the song Dube had on the radio in the van (intro music)? I'm currently watching this in my class and what I've seen in the first strikes me as holy shite... what a world we had...

P.S plz reply on what the song is

  • I get to watch this in Geography class tomorrow!

  • @hockeystud261 lol me to

  • we had a bunch of rwandan refugees in my high school...

  • It's pretty pathetic that people EXPECT the United States to do stuff about disasters like this, when there are certain barriers that are potentially too hazardous for us to be able to operate in that sort of environment. Not to mention, it was thanks to European colonization of Africa that set it up as we see it today. Sad that Belgium did nothing, because historically, Rwanda was THEIR colony, and they separated and elevated the Tutsis, sparking this type of conflict.. Shame on the world...

  • @The5hort5tuff I find it interesting how everybody points to european colonization for the most of Africa's problems (as if it were the ONLY cause) yet not one single ounce of finger pointing at the Arab Muslims for their over thousand years of exploitation and brutalization of the Dark Continent.

The difference is that Europeans were their in Africa for its resources and to do business with the African elites. The Arab Muslims were only there to plunder, rape, and exploit in the name of Allah

  • @LordMalice6d9 Touché. However the Belgiums created those "elites" you speak of and sparked that kind of behavior with their biased treatment, and people started looking to the United States, as well as other major nations, to do something about it. It is extremely hard to intervene in that kind of mess in sovereign countries, and in that particular case, it was setup by Europeans. And where do you think Arabs got that "plunder for Allah" idea from? European Crusades maybe?? :)

  • @The5hort5tuff yeh it had nothing to do with the U.S. but when has tht ever stopped us from getting involved lmao but good movie

  • @MRwillIAMZ11 Lol I couldn't agree more. I'm not a big fan of our recent intervention procedures either, but what irks me more is the people around the world who blame us for all this stuff but come running back to us for help/support when something goes awry...

  • @The5hort5tuff

No one expects the U.S. to do anything, however, when the U.N. agrees that intervention is needed, you usually see the U.S. be a part of this. I believe there was a couple U.S. soldiers who were killed in Africa just prior to the genocide in Rwanda, so they were not really encouraged in participating in the U.N. approved mandate. The reason Belgium pulled their soldiers out of Rwanda was in protest of the Security Council's inaction, they needed to act, they protected their men.

  • Comment removed

  • @The5hort5tuff No one expects the USA to do anything. This was the UN's fault.

  • @VolcardoReviewer I apologize. My comment was originally targeted towards some of the comments below at the time I saw this. Some people had been throwing words around about how America is bad because of this when it shouldn't be expected... We should've have intervened, no doubt about that, but dont be expectant about it.

And it was the Member States of the UN with whom the fault lies(United States included). They were unwilling to send more resources and troops to the genocide.

  • @The5hort5tuff the UN or NATO should, not USA...

  • @hemicalais To true sir, but plenty of people got upset with the United States like everything is our problem.... It gets annoying. Another story is when we gave power to the EU to deal with the conflict and killing in Yugoslavia and they transferred all that power right back to the UN whose leading nation then was.... *drumroll*... THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA... This world needs to grow up and take more international responsibility. We can't do it all.

  • for anyone who wants to say "the U.S. government sucks for not trying to stop these civil wars/ genocides in africa" please don't...we already have enough on our hands sad to say we CAN'T really do anything right now
