  • I've known for decades that there are women who breast feed their adopted children, whether or not they were previously lactating. So, it IS possible with great perseverance. It has always been a mystery to me the reason behind a woman not being successful with breast feeding, as I have effortlessly done so with all three of mine. I do remember, however, noticing my breasts dry up with my first-born anytime I'd introduce an alternative; but once I omitted it, milk flow would return to normal.

  • Bottle or Breast are both best.

  • I tried for two months to breastfeed, could only get out 100ml at most a day while on meds. Some moms just cant, they are physically incapable.

  • @CindyStay While I agree with you, it is extremely rare for a healthy woman not to be able to effectively begin the breast feeding process. It takes persistence, and some women give up too soon. With my third-born, I had to persevere for days to get him to latch on. I never had any interventions with me (bottle/formula) just in case the process wasn't a success, and never had any doubt that he wouldn't latch on. It takes both mom and baby in this learning process. Did you get any help from LLL?
