I was there the night they recorded this. I almost fell off the balcony at Winterland. My warhoop can be clearly heard around the keyboard solo! It will always be my favorite all tiime live recording. Funny thing is, I did know for sure this was the performance I was at until about x10 years ago! Long Live Frampton's Camel!

The only thing you can say about this song is that every band member is completely dialed in on this. Everyone is firing on all cylinders. John Siomos drumming is steady and sure with great fills. Stan Sheldon is laying down some very funkalicious bass grooves. Bob Mayo.. What can you say? One of the all time great keyboard solos. And Peter. In the groove.. feeling it. The end solo is just mind numbing.

@roquefortfiles I think they may have had a couple sips from that bottle before the show! haha One of the greatest songs (and recordings of it) of all time. It's one thing to have a special night. It's another thing to have the "Record" button pushed on that same night. Live recordings rarely top the studio version. This is one of the rare exceptions.

@qwertydorknut5 From what i have heard about when this was recorded, they had been on tour for a while. This was one of their last nights. They knew the song well and were enjoying things that night. The reason FCA was so successful was that it took somewhat clunky studio songs (Listen to DYFLWD studio..its clunky) and reinvented them with totally new energy live. This song literally comes to life on stage. Studio? its slow and plodding.

@roquefortfiles I couldnt agree more. I've actually heard the studio virsion of this song before. I guess what I was refering to is that studio versions are usually, for lack of a better phrase "Best of" compilations of 2-3 days of studio work. It's pretty hard to beat that in a live situation considering all the factors involved. Tuning, accustics of a given arena, mood of musicians, feed back, back ground noise etc etc cant be erased for a "redue". They nailed everything in 1 shot!

@roquefortfiles 1 of the most glaring examples of this would be Toto's "Rosanna". A highly identifiable song that was so woven together in the studio it would be virtually impossible to do it justice in a live setting. The lead vocals and harmonies alone would be difficult. Having 20 different instraments all hitting just right would take an act of God! haha Personally I think Rosanna is a great example of what real life trained musicians can do when turned loose in a studio! haha Amazing song!

@qwertydorknut5 For me one of the most glaring examples of studio to live was Boston's debut. That album is so over produced. It sounds like they have 20 guitars being recorded. When we saw them live in 1978 they simply couldn't produce it Live. Because of that the songs sounded nothing like the album. It was quite a let down. Known for that "wall of sound" they simply could not recreate it on a stage. They would have needed 20 guitars, a whirlitzer. 10 Brad Delps.

I'll always cherish the memory of hearing this masterpiece during a cool crisp spring [that had lots of blue sunny days], in 1976.One of my favorite moments in this song is after Frampton sings the refrain 'Do yoouuuu you! Feel like I do!" He adds " Of course you do!" 2:58 [ albeit a little muffled here still nice upload nonetheless] That always cheers me up. Pure gooseflesh! No being coldly rebuffed or turned away into the dark! Frampton welcomes encourages everyone everywhere into the light.
