Now, I could be wrong, as I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on the musical intersection of Jews and Indians, but a quick bout of research, which could also be wrong, says that Klezmer predates Indian music by about ten centuries. That coupled with the fact that they don't sound particularly similar, I think you're statement is a bit unfounded. The Indian music I'm referring to, by the way, is Hindustani. Just for reference.

@Nagikama 10 centuries? that's a long time. that's like saying the whole world was on stand by while klezmer was created :D i'm talking about when the first gypsies came to Europe, and ended up with the Jews, they should them a trick or two, why would I be talking about Hindustani music anyway? :p I just feel India doesn't get enough credit for their influence on music. Like their Influence on reggae and other genres.

@Gallowghoul and also, gypsies arrived in europe in the 11th century, after the arrival of jews. also, gypsy music varies drastically by area and borrows heavily from elements of the cultures they interacted with, as did klezmer musicians. gypsy music has more in common with turkish/eastern european than indian. just sayin'.

He's cheating. He is playing a little Eb Clarinet. Makes getting the high notes a whole lot easier, but it sounds a little nasally sometimes. I wish I had one of those when I played a Klezmer gig last weekend. He does an excellent job.
