To say Daniels more talented is incorrect. There both equally talented drummers, theres styles just vary and are different. Some fans (like myself) preferred Ryan's drumming, and some prefer Daniels, thats fine, but to say one is more talented than the other is false. That basic 4/4 beat helped Nickelback get to the top of the rock
WOAH- ya think he pulled his left foot back at 3:36..to set off that flashpot at the end / He missed it , then added the exact ending , slid his left foot back again and HIT the button at 3:44 ?? watch it..! it just looks weird for a drummer to slide a foot back. BUT- that would be the only way for it to blow EXACTLY when it should...leaving a pyro guy out of the equation.
Honestly, I only clicked on this because someone said they thought this guy was better than Mike Portnoy. As soon as I realized he was the drummer from Nickelback, I thought, "fuck this." But I watched anyway and he's pretty friggin good. Not Portnoy or Peart good, but pretty friggin good.
Daniel has definitely got his groove going on. Overall really good drummer - mixes it up really nice - the total package. Definitely under-rated but Not For Long!
Poor Adair, he can do a decent job at the drums but he has to play generic songs (sorry 'Back fans, but Nickelback rarely has any unique tempos or anything creative). He should really join a more talented band...
@KirbiesandYoshies Ok, you're right, but how you define talented? So Nirvana wasn't and U2 isn't talented, just because their songs aren't difficult to play?
Talent can be judged by standards. When a band releases an album, it hopefully surpasses our expectations of what music can do and express. A band that can consistently challenge us and redefine the way we look at music is what I'd call a talented band. Or, based on technicality, talent would be judged by the way a band uses time signature, song structure, etc. to shape their music, but I think that's a superficial way of judging music, since it doesn't take into consideration the
"Soul" of the band. Based on this, both Nirvana and U2 are rock legends because their albums redefined what was expected of music, U2 with their anthem post-punk landscapes and Nirvana with their ironic and almost "fanboyish" take on Grunge and the American underground. I never said that difficult songs to play makes for a talented or good band--they don't--but that Nickelback is extremely generic, and it doesn't allow its musicians to make full use of their talents, which is a sin
@buffsoldier32 You must be kidding me, right? Have you ever heard of Thomas Lang, George Kollias, or even Mike Portnoy, Mike Terrana.... the slowest one of this list would play faster than him with one single hand...
@311Vision Who ever said he's trying to be quick? i hate quick solos, they're so boring to watch. Drumming isn't about how many times you can hit the drum.
@buffsoldier32 While I admit he is quick and a very underrated drummer.... He's not the quickest. John Bonham is much faster to the point you'd think the video was sped up
If you are talking about the beginning, he is not using double bass. He is hitting the hihat with his heel to make a cool sound, and then muting by going back with his toe.( like heel-toe on double bas, but more exagerated.)
at first i understood it, but when dark horse came out the drums weren't any better than they had been before. have to say i was really disappointed with the way the drums were played on that album. i expected a lot more
Completely different styles of music...metal drummers (like George Kollias) are widely regarded as the best in the world...but this is Nickelbacks drummer.
I'm not sure if this is official but a person who claimed to be M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold wrote on the Rolling Stone website that Aldai will be the drummer on A7X's new album due to the recent death of their drummer
this is the classic drummer argument haha. In my opinion, every good drummer like this guy has something to offer in music, for instance adair's crazy tricks and fantastic showmanship. But there's really no need to compare him to the greats. This guy is probably inspirational to people who don't really research the instrument, maybe enough so that they start playing. And the argument of mainstream vs better music will go on forever and no one will win
until people realize that mainstream music is formulaic, and doesn't require talent at all. But you're right, that day will never come. Because then a lot of people will be put out of business. You know what's funny? When stars get interviewed, they never say they want to be the best, they say the want to be the biggest star, or they want to be a superstar. Because nobody in mainstream music will ever be the best at anything.
people just but the drummers that are ranked the best not their own opinons and most drummers that are ranked high dont have much style of fun playing beshides moon, mitchell, beauford, and bonham but i prefer other drummers to im so tired of people just listing drummers becuase websites say their the best its so stupid have your own opinon
This guy is average. There are tons, really, TONS of better drummers. If you think he is one of the best in the game, you don't know the game. Everything he did, I could do after a year of playing. I could murder this guy, let alone some of the REAL best drummers, like Danny Carey from Tool, Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, Bobby Jarzombek from Spastic Ink, just to name a few. You probably never heard of them because their bands don't play pop hits on your radio. You people make me sick.
totally agree .. hes good but like you said compared to Mike Portnoy , Niel Peart, Matt Griener and many more he just doesnt compare... do you have any videos bro?
well, as a big fan of Dream Theater, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Mr Big, Tool, etc., I agree in some things. Those guys you mentioned above are real virtuosos, and they're better than Adair just because they're the best in the world. But I think it's good to hear very good drummers like this who play in a commercial band, and can relaly play, not like other commercial bands. PLus, he's got very cool stuff, like the intro in "Follow you home".
I'm not a drummer, so I wouldn't know too much about difficult or not difficult stuff. I'm guitarist, and it's the same with the guitarists. Maybe Kroeger and Peak are nowhere near Gilbert, Petrucci, Vai, Morse or Malmsteen, but they're really good, and do a lot of good to a world dominated by guys like The Jonas Bros, Ashlee Simpson, Britney, and Twilight
Besides, I wouldn't waste my time attempting this solo, I would try and attempt a solo from Buddy Rich, or Danny Carey, or Neil Peart, or John Bonham, or Mitch Mitchell, or Bobby Jarzombek, or Steve Smith, or Carter Beauford, or Dennis Chambers, or Dave Weckl, or Vinnie Coaliuta, or Ed Shawnessy, or Keith Moon, or Ginger Baker, or Bill Ward, or Mike Portnoy, or Terry Bozzio, or Tony Royster Jr., or Stewart Copeland, or even one from my grandma.
It's not about that, kid. I understand that drummers are different, but there are also different caliber drummers. I'm talking about how overrated this guy is. If you want to worship a mediocre drummer, go ahead, whatever.
if you dont drum then wtf you cant say what you "could do with a year of drumming"!!! And if something is a "pop hit" on the radio then id have to be a good song......that's why they sell a lot of music. yes, there are some bands that are good but they're not out there, they should be if they're actually good.......
My man, I've been drumming for ten years. Just because something is a po hit doesn't make it good. All the pop hits you hear on the radio are crap. There isn't one song on the hit radio station that is worthwile, or meaningful, or worth remembering in any way. Nobody on the radio is talented. As a matter of fact, the more talented somebody, or a band is, the more they stay away from pop culture. Talent has nothing to do with popularity.
"Talent has nothing to do with popularity". AGREED. But popularity also has nothing to do with talent. There are good songs on the radio and there are talented popular artists. WTH kind of a statement is that? O and the way you said the thing before made me think you dont drum, so my bad on that. I guess beat it by michael isn't a good song, because it's popular, right, sure, watever. Rush is somewhat popular, so Neil Peart isn't good. STFU cause it sounds like you're high right now.
I meant today. Today, everybody sucks, because nobody wants to be great anymore, they just want to make it big. I love Michael Jackson and Rush. People back then actually focused on their talents. But today, everything is formulaic, nothing is substantial anymore. The best bands in the world know that if you want to be great, don't go mainstream. MTV has killed talent and originality, because we allowed it to. We all fall for this bullshit that is meaningless and bland.

I know there is talent out there, I said there is no talent in the mainstream media. You're right, if you want to find talent, you have to search for it. But you're not right about this guy's chops, he's not that good. There is nothing special about this or any other solo of his.
The reason behind this is because if a band is mainstream, they have to focus on their image more than on their talents. The music industry is about IMAGE, not talent. Take the......Jonas....Brothers (sorry it hurts to say their name) for example, PRIME FRIGGIN EXAMPLE of image over talent. Take any band on the radio, including Nickelback, as other examples. Nickelback is nothing special, and their drummer is nothing special.
Yeah they are but he's not playin to his full potential but he doesn't paly to make himself sound good but rather to make the song sound good and I admire that
But he's a better drummer than he shows in the songs
He'd be a moron to leave this band. Dude is making tons of money and not even breaking a sweat till he does a drum solo. He has a fusion project where he can show off all he wants. The music sucks, but so does nickelback. This guy is laughing all the way to the bank
completley agree nickleback does almost nothing in the way of drumming maybe in their 1st cd but not anymore and theyre more popular now then they were then
what i mean is, nickelback is one of the biggest bands in the world right now, so leaving and being picked up by another band would most likely be a step down. he has very few options of where to go that would be as popular as nickelback
Daniel Adair is one of the most talented drummers in the world and in my eyes he's the best drummer in the world. And if he didn't want to play for nickelback he wouldn't have joined them in the first place. And as far as i'm concerned he is way better than ryan vikedal (their former drummer). So to all the people who think he should leave Nickelback, forget it. Daniel is happy with who he plays for and if he wasn't, i'm sure he would have left ages ago
i dont understand why he would want to stay though he does make tons of money but nickleback never does anything with him he is amazing but if hes so talented maybe he should look somewhere else to play to showcase his talents
Daniel is an awsome drummer and very underrated in my opinion. To the people that think he should leave Nickleback...why would he? He is makeing a ton of money and is with a band he obviousely likes playing with. If he's happy with them then there is no reason to leave.
Did it ever occur to you that Daniel might not WANT to play in another band than Nickelback? They make great music, they have a massive fan-community, they sell quite a few records, etc.. I think he's pretty content where he is. So stop saying he should play some other genre, or that he should join a "better group". If he really wanted to, he wouldn't have joined'em in the first place.
I think the drummer in Nickeback is better than the rest of the band, I think he might join another band, where he can play faster, like metal or something. He could be usefull in a metal band...
nickelback is a decent band. They have a great sound. but how many times can they really write about their ex-girlfriends and their hometown??? and now they have that reputation of being a pop rock band when they could be a great hard rock group. just my humble opinion.
I know what you're saying and i appreciate your opinion. I don't think they are pop rock though, i went to see them recently and they were pretty hard rock to be honest.
I think that their albums are pretty pop rock... but live, they rock hard, covering some metallica, drums solo, guitar solos, etc. Their songs are more heavy live
agreed...they basically sold out to the record company to make money. Not that I can blame them cause they're sitting pretty right about now but it's just kind of weak to see that they could make something better and they just write to sell records.
I think Daniel Adair has done wonders for Nickelback's sound. His drumming, specially on the All the Right Reasons albums is incredible as well as his backup vocals. He's truly an underrated musician.

PoeticJustice05 2 years ago
Could do that with a year of drumming! AHAHAHAHAHA.....If you dont play drums you cant talk.....

wow.. im realllllly taken back! how come he has been one of the most underrated drummers of this day..
well, if he could impliment some quick gospel grooves/chops in this solo, and his playing.. he would EASILY be one of the best drummers all time!

It's wierd
He is such a great drummer but doesn't really show it in the songs
I think the best drum piece for one of Nickelback's songs is the intro to Follow You home
Even then its not that difficult
It's only the double bass that makes it sound good
ThatGuitaristDude 2 years ago
dude nickelbacks drums in their songs are pretty kick ass
hockeyhounds5 2 years ago
Yeah they are but he's not playin to his full potential but he doesn't paly to make himself sound good but rather to make the song sound good and I admire that
But he's a better drummer than he shows in the songs

He'd be a moron to leave this band. Dude is making tons of money and not even breaking a sweat till he does a drum solo. He has a fusion project where he can show off all he wants. The music sucks, but so does nickelback. This guy is laughing all the way to the bank
vanessaveilleux 2 years ago
completley agree nickleback does almost nothing in the way of drumming maybe in their 1st cd but not anymore and theyre more popular now then they were then
bharrisongrandview 2 years ago
what i mean is, nickelback is one of the biggest bands in the world right now, so leaving and being picked up by another band would most likely be a step down. he has very few options of where to go that would be as popular as nickelback
Greenwave247 2 years ago
if he left nickelback, where could he possibly go? nickelback is one of the most popular bands in the world right now
Greenwave247 2 years ago
And one of the shitiest.
If he left Nickelback, a band would pick him up in less than a week.
NeilPeartisGod14 2 years ago
Daniel Adair is one of the most talented drummers in the world and in my eyes he's the best drummer in the world. And if he didn't want to play for nickelback he wouldn't have joined them in the first place. And as far as i'm concerned he is way better than ryan vikedal (their former drummer). So to all the people who think he should leave Nickelback, forget it. Daniel is happy with who he plays for and if he wasn't, i'm sure he would have left ages ago
gleno19891 2 years ago
i totally agree with u!!!
davidoflondon 2 years ago
i dont understand why he would want to stay though he does make tons of money but nickleback never does anything with him he is amazing but if hes so talented maybe he should look somewhere else to play to showcase his talents
bharrisongrandview 2 years ago
What a waste of talent for this guy to be in a shitty band like Nickelback 0-0

Daniel is an awsome drummer and very underrated in my opinion. To the people that think he should leave Nickleback...why would he? He is makeing a ton of money and is with a band he obviousely likes playing with. If he's happy with them then there is no reason to leave.

Woah!! Quads take some skill wow can't wait till i go to their concert july 22nd
InsanityUnloved 2 years ago
Did it ever occur to you that Daniel might not WANT to play in another band than Nickelback? They make great music, they have a massive fan-community, they sell quite a few records, etc.. I think he's pretty content where he is. So stop saying he should play some other genre, or that he should join a "better group". If he really wanted to, he wouldn't have joined'em in the first place.

i dont like nickelback but they have a great drummer
wormwood1279 2 years ago
I think the drummer in Nickeback is better than the rest of the band, I think he might join another band, where he can play faster, like metal or something. He could be usefull in a metal band...

Nickelback are an awesome band, and Daniel chose to work with them, he wanted to be a part of that. He's brilliant... just like the rest of the guys
Ewanzgurl103 2 years ago
nickelback is a decent band. They have a great sound. but how many times can they really write about their ex-girlfriends and their hometown??? and now they have that reputation of being a pop rock band when they could be a great hard rock group. just my humble opinion.
alicecoop9009 2 years ago
I know what you're saying and i appreciate your opinion. I don't think they are pop rock though, i went to see them recently and they were pretty hard rock to be honest.
Ewanzgurl103 2 years ago
I think that their albums are pretty pop rock... but live, they rock hard, covering some metallica, drums solo, guitar solos, etc. Their songs are more heavy live
dav24642 2 years ago
Some of the songs on their albums are hard, try animals or do this anymore. they're both awesome tracks
Ewanzgurl103 2 years ago
agreed...they basically sold out to the record company to make money.
