  • is anybody suspicious that somebody fast forwarded that, so that it seemed his hands were moving the speed of light? XD

  • @bonegasm I am also a jazz trombone player, and like musicmanson said, I have been holding my slide like that since i first learned to play. Some people have tried to tell me I'm doing it wrong, but I can't do it any other way

  • this song is great. were also playing this for our middle school jazz band.

  • I saw this new yorker in the middle of nowhere in illinois. he is beast

  • The tone quality of the trombone sounds weird, is it the mic?

  • @1WFE3 It's just the way Fedchock plays (having played with him live, it's always like that even w/o the mic)

  • woooooow... our bands version of this piece is the most watered-down and easy compared to this.

  • beast.

  • one of the most known songs in jazz ever bus a genius example how it should be.

  • this guy is tall. but amazing!!!

  • we r playing this in our high school band :D

  • Frank Rosolino blows them all away! Even Carl Fontana, Frank's friend called him the greatest he ever played with.

  • world's nicest comb-over known.

  • Why did the version I had to play in high school SUCK so much?

  • @RJFerreiro could have something to do with the fact that the Johns Fedchock and motherflippin' Riley weren't playing on it? (No offence if you play trombone or drums)

  • @RJFerreiro Because most band directors know nothing about jazz, so they pick out bad arrangements of songs that they have heard of a couple of times...

  • 4 people aren't smart enough to get on the caravan

  • LOL I didn't even realise the trombone soloist had a moustache in the beginning of the solo until the camera shifted to his front view LOL

  • LOL I didn't even realise he had a moustache in the beginning of the solo until the camera shifted to his front view LOL

  • Go John Go!!!! PLEASE more recordings of this KILLER Big Band !!!!

  • What kind of crazy time signature is the intro....four five time maybe

  • @kapppz 4/4...

  • Borat play excellent trombone.

  • The trombone sounds great, I liked this version

  • @Jneroes07

Looks like a King Jiggs 2b to me !

  • @fetze No he plays a King 2B+, I know it for a fact because I study with him.

  • I love this guy!

  • Wow, the solos in this are fantastic! does anyone know who that sax player is?

  • @DCIJunkii

    Rich Margitza

  • The trumpet section kinda sucks, im sure they are all good players but can only hear the lead trumpet and others are not supporting him making it sound very hollow, also they are not together, great soloists though and rhythm section

  • borat plays excellent trombone

  • wow he just got a new fan

  • thats how I hold my slide when i play. I think i'm the only one at my school though

  • @Brandawg94 im the only trombone at my school too and i hold my slide the same way

    Muito show!!!!!

  • Great vid, would be nice if you put mister Riley as the drummer in one of the tags. I think he is one of the better jazz drummers in the world, but still in the dark LOL.

  • @coolelex ... John Riley is a master at the drums . Right there with Peter Erskine in my opinion . In fact , I believe John Riley and Peter Erskine to be the finest jazz drummers I`ve ever heard ... Joe Morello as well .

  • Amazing!!

  • just saw this man and his band today what a great concert loved every sec

  • Thank you Bonegasm..great sharing.......bless

  • What a great trombone player!

  • Super version, et BRAVO !!!

  • great band and soloists, I believe John Fedchock played in Woody Herman's band in the 80's.

  • I know of one other who holds his slide that way. Check out Carl Fontana on the YouTube video "Carl Fontana Plays The Blues". Exactly the same.

  • @bonegasm I am actually a Jazz 'Bone player and I hold my slide like that. I have ever since I first started playing. It just feels more natural to me.

  • John holds the slide in a way i've never seen with other players. Whatever works eh!!

  • @olibongo333 Really? I guess big names dont' really do that but most of the players at my University play with that hand positioning.

  • Wow...great music. Loving Rick's solo. Fantastic.

  • John Fedchock is F**CKIN AMAZING. I cant wait to study with him at Purchase College in the Fall

  • fantastic sound

Just amazing all the way around!!!

  • MUY BUENO

  • Seeing John tonight, really excited!

  • dark, deep, and ya dark!! great!!

  • Damn.... man, that's a deep sound!

Someone's been listening to plenty of Frank Roselina. =)

  • This guy convinces me that the horrors of playing trombone through high school might be worth it afterwords.

  • Now that's what I'm talking about. Awesome groove.

  • Fantastic

  • I just saw this guy live. He was great. Awesome soloist.

  • wow, i think the one thing that matches john's playing is his writing...great all-around guy!
