@bonegasm I am also a jazz trombone player, and like musicmanson said, I have been holding my slide like that since i first learned to play. Some people have tried to tell me I'm doing it wrong, but I can't do it any other way
@RJFerreiro could have something to do with the fact that the Johns Fedchock and motherflippin' Riley weren't playing on it? (No offence if you play trombone or drums)
@RJFerreiro Because most band directors know nothing about jazz, so they pick out bad arrangements of songs that they have heard of a couple of times...
The trumpet section kinda sucks, im sure they are all good players but can only hear the lead trumpet and others are not supporting him making it sound very hollow, also they are not together, great soloists though and rhythm section
Great vid, would be nice if you put mister Riley as the drummer in one of the tags. I think he is one of the better jazz drummers in the world, but still in the dark LOL.
@coolelex ... John Riley is a master at the drums . Right there with Peter Erskine in my opinion . In fact , I believe John Riley and Peter Erskine to be the finest jazz drummers I`ve ever heard ... Joe Morello as well .
@bonegasm I am actually a Jazz 'Bone player and I hold my slide like that. I have ever since I first started playing. It just feels more natural to me.
WOW!!! I am a trombone player myself and ive just started with the whole jazz stuff ive been doing more of the wind ensemble stuff but i really like jazz and that solo is insane!!! i really want to learn that now! and a great song over all the song was good the tbone solo was good and so was the tener solo. Just amazing all the way around!!!
lolz john fedchock was the very 1st trombone player i heard on cd i remember hearing his version of th flinstones theme and i was amazed by him and his band XD john has a very nice sound XD good trombone inspiration XD
is anybody suspicious that somebody fast forwarded that, so that it seemed his hands were moving the speed of light? XD

The tone quality of the trombone sounds weird, is it the mic?
1WFE3 8 months ago
@1WFE3 It's just the way Fedchock plays (having played with him live, it's always like that even w/o the mic)

woooooow... our bands version of this piece is the most watered-down and easy compared to this.
