  • B8 or B20.

    It your choice.

  • zildjian

  • the paistes sound too much like cheap cymbals.. like sabian b8s for example

  • @432drummer They sound better than Zidjian don't mind Zidjian just like Paistes better

  • @432drummer That's because the Paistes they're showing are their mid range ones, or outdated. Their top of the line ones are AMAZING. Check out the Signature Reflector Heavy Full Crash 18, for instance.

  • @432drummer thats cause they are.. this is paistes cheapest line of cymbal. And they still sound better

  • i love the sound of ziljan k custom crush 18, very classic

  • @throbbingmember ... well , for a long time they were the only games in town ... then sabian came along ...now you have meinl , bosphorous , dream , and others that i probably havent even heard of

  • they both sound like ass compared to Meinl Byzance ... Bosphorous ..and Dream Bliss

  • Sabian sucks!!! Zildjian and Paiste FTW!!!

  • Comment removed

  • paiste the best...

  • personally im a paiste person

  • paiste.

  • Lame comparison because they picked the wrong cymbals to compare ea. other to! No vintage 2002s or 602s. Fundamentally wrong.

  • That is like comparing Ford to Chevy. Who cares as long as the cymbal you are using fits Your Sound. Personally I've owned Sabian, Zildjian and Paiste. And I prefer Paiste Signature and Dark Energy Mark 1, by far. But that is everyone's personal choice! You may find your sound by mixing and matching!!

  • Paiste for me.

  • Paiste and Zildjan are the best cymbals ... no of them is better than the other one ...

  • ZILDJIAN!!!!!!!

  • If you're going to compare Zildjian to Paiste then at least use Paiste high end cymbals like you did with Zildjian. Paiste Signatures would pawn those Zildjian K's any day of the week.

  • Give me that K Custom Crash...

  • i like sabian, come at me

  • I have Zildjians AND Paistes on my kit..

  • As a personal preference, I much prefer the paiste... They just sing so much more than the zildjian...

  • you cant compate zildjian k to paiste alpha.. and you cant compare other brands which would be better.. IT IS A FUCKING PERSONAL PREFERENCE! ITS EVERYBODYS PERSONAL PREFERENCE! i would say zildjian, im an oldschool guy thats why i like zildjian.

  • Paiste

  • Paiste crashes definitely have a glassier sound to them. Both companies make excellent cymbals but I prefer the smoother sound of Zildjian since they sit better in the mix and don't overpower the music. I do have a Paiste 22" vintage Formula 602 cymbal that I use on occasion and like it very much.

  • oooooo.... i guess it depends on the kind of music you like

  • Check out Anatolian. You'll be amazed. Price, durability, quality, at less than Paiste and Zildjian.

  • @gert123456 That´s true anatolian ultimate series is perfect for metal! Sound durability and price for sure! Sad they´re so unknown!

  • Paiste is nice but i dont like the sound of alphas. "2oo2s are way nicer sounding. Zildjian K are nice too.

  • paiste is way better.. i clicked on this vid just to say it

  • It's not just difference in bright or dark; Paistes all have a certain shimmering that none of the other companies do. I wasn't even looking at the vid while typing this comment, I could tell which company was which without an issue even with that. Everyone that prefers Zildjian is just stuck on the brand (Though I'll admit, the A Customs are pretty good).

  • paiste....here is what i have....14" pst5 medium hi-hats, 16" 2002 thin crash, 12" alpha power splash, 18" alpha medium crystal crash, 18" 502 china, 22" 2002 heavy ride.....i also have a zildjian 10" trashformer and a street fx 12" factory metal...

  • I love both Zildjian and Paiste.

  • sabian winz

  • comparing Paiste Alpha's with zildjian K custom isn't really fair, but it proves Paiste is way better: Alpha's sound just as good as K's in this vid, only Alpha's are the "starter" cymbals of Paiste, K's are Zildjian's absolute best

    Paiste Rules!

  • @metallifukinca also the zildjian seemed all "broken in" and when you break in a cymbal it sounds better and alphas seemd new!

  • sabian is the best

  • both sound really good and he is rich. all depends on the type of music you want, i currently have 2 paiste cymbals (ride/crash and hi-hats) but i've played zildjian and i like the feel of playing them better on average

  • Paiste is good but I've never really liked their rides. Zildjian is what I have now, and they're pretty awesome.

  • The Paiste's look heavier and cooler and they sound darker

But I think the Zildjian's sound better

  • Paiste is a beast cymbal company I currently have a 18" thin crash a 16" thin crash and a 10" splash all of the pst 5 series i would recomend these symbals to any moderate or advanced drummer

  • paiste, no doubt about it

  • Paiste wins every time !!! Best cymbal company in the world !!!!

  • The Paistes just has some sort of shimmer that the others don't. It's not something ya can really explain, but it's there, on all their cymbals, for whatever style and price. Is Paiste ridiculously expensive, yes. Are the other big three companies still good, for sure. But Paiste's just the best.

  • I like the Paiste cymbals more. Paiste cymbals on this video have a beautiful, long-sustaining ringing ;/

  • you cant compare and alpha to a K

  • PAISTE WINS

  • For me, it DOESN'T matter what brand the cymbals are. The only thing important is The Sound.

For my wishlist, Crashes = Paiste 2002

Rides = Zildjian K, K Constantinople, Sabian HH Raw Bell Dry

    Hi-Hat = Sabian AAX, Paiste 2002, Zildjian A Custom,

China = Paiste Twenty, Zildjian K, Zildjian Z Custom,

Splash = Zildjian K, Zildjian K Custom, Sabian HHX Evolution

As you can see, it's mixed brands :) Brand doesn't matter! :D

  • definatly like paiste more :)

  • I like the Zildjian cymbals more. Paiste cymbals on this video have a nasty, long-sustaining ringing ;/

  • PAISTE ! for much

  • paiste ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ wins

  • Wow I really like those Alpha's, especially the China. I liked the K crash a lot better though. People who choose their cymbals solely because of their brand are really missing out! Use your ears, not your eyes - after all - a good sound is what you're after, not your fancy cymbal collection from a certain brand which you're loyal to don't you think?

  • I'll never play anything but paiste. Ive had some Sabians which were alright, but wont touch Zildjian, had one zxt and it started cracking in just under a month. Still have my sabian b8 pro sonix hats(which i plan to replace w/ paiste metals) but everything else is Paiste. Well my bell is a Stagg which is an amazing bell for the price, sounds just as good as a Z-bell for almost half the cost.

  • can't stand zildjian. they're too much "machine" now.

  • @passion4drums I would prefer a cymbal that sounds better that was made by a machine than one that was handmade and sucks.

  • @sweetdrums295 which is why i don't like zildjian. we all have opinions, but here's mine. they just can't pull it off anymore.

  • @passion4drums paistes are more machined than zildjians

  • @tylerhudson1 maybe. i use neither. i'm just saying.

  • that paiste alpha china is orgasmic

  • Paiste wins in a landslide.

  • pAiStE!!!

  • not a fair comparison.

  • PAISTE!!!

  • Paiste!

  • This video is showing a intermediate series in the paiste cymbals aside the crystal crash, and showing zildjians top lines of k... it isn't a fair comparison

  • definately zildjian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • China: Zildjian

    Crash 18: Zildjian

    Crash 17: Paiste

  • I would like a rezos for hi hat and rides and rudes for crashes

  • zildjian is better

  • I have zildjians but wan paistes but their so fuckin expensive, and this video shows why.

  • That first K China sounds awesome! I didn't expect it to be that dark, but then again I've only heard it in sound samples on Zildjian's website. Maybe I should try one out...

  • paiste has a brighter, less "manufactured" sound.

  • @NickRoelsConcerts13 WTF are you trying to say? Paiste is a low quality cymbal manufacturer? Haha you're a fucking ape.

  • @joshuachan56 wow way to take what i said and turn it around dipshit. if its brighter and less "manufactured" sounding...its flippin better. no shit sherlock.

  • paiste is the better out of the 2, sept the A costoms. other then that meinl is my favorate cymbal company

  • paiste

  • that k custom crash pwns the sound formula one

  • @sweetdrums295 agree

  • Paiste

  • the zildjians sounded like you didnt have to hit them as hard

  • Paiste for sure (Y)

  • I use Sabian just cuz they came with my kit. But personally I like Paiste the best. The 2002 are the sexiest cymbals ever! They always seem to make their rides crashable. But I wouldn't say they're the best, it's all preference.

  • Zildjian all the way

    Paiste all the way

    Sabian all the way

    Meinl all the way

    Bosphorus all the way

    Istanbul all the way

basically saying all cymbal company's are great.

  • Zildjian - Brighter. Paiste - Darker.

Personal preference. No one company is better than the other.

Now you all can suck it!

  • @rm2racer other way around dumbass

  • Sabian all the way.

  • compare cymbals do not know, they mix it sets that are not equal, if you're looking to compare sounds the same series, the same bronze and the same alloy as the only quality that will stand out is the manufacturing attn: Hans hilfreich Luthier and specialist Cymbals

  • sabian beat them both!

  • anyone else notice the paiste cymbals sound like sabian b8s? just more pristine

  • I love both... I mean the ZIldjian flagship is the A Custom and K Custom and then Paiste has the Signature and the 2002 AND the Twenty... all of which sound great. I think Zildjian makes better core cymbals but Paiste has the edge in effects.

  • and i love that crystal crash!

  • Paiste and zildjian are my favorite cymbal companies :D

  • i have alphas too and theyre awesome! and i have solar hihats and crash/ride, which are soon to be replaced, they dont deserve to be near my precious paistes!

  • I liked the Zildjians more

    inb4 i get flamed

  • Hahahaha, the alphas sound better than the k's, this is why paiste is vastly superior to zildjian.

  • @Protesthedrummer7 lol dude are you on crack? Paiste alphas dont even compare to K's, I love paiste but alphas are just mid level cymbals, they have that gongy sound and blend really horrible.

  • the zildijan china sounded like a china, the paiste china sounded like a crash

  • @wp08021 but paistes 502 18" china (not in production anymore) sound the BEST

  • its all about preference i personaly think they are both amazing, paiste is nice but ive played a bunch of zildjian and i love em :D

  • seems like folks are mixing up dark and bright with wet and dry...I will clarify...Paiste sounds darker...Zildjian sounds brighter...Paiste sounds more wet...Zildjian sounds more dry...I play K cons, K istanbuls and formula 602's, I also play A's and Sabian Legacys...All very different but all really nice. Love the Zilds and the Paistes.

  • i think paiste and zildjian are both great, but i like the zildjian crashes better.

  • The Aplhas have a sharper sound that the K's. I have love Paiste for yearsand will countinue to think they are the best cymbals money can buy. Dose any one esle agree?

  • @paulwall1981 Yes i do. I ALWAYS trust Paiste :)

  • @joshuachan56. Good glad to have you on my side. Paiste rules.

  • in my opinion the paistes sound alot worse than zildjian but thats just my opinion, of course some paistes sound good like the signature series

  • paiste has the biggest variance in models out of any cymbal company i've seen.

  • I never tried paste, but the only problem with zildjian cymbals are, they are way too bright. They don't have a dark sound with any of them. (Go with sabian guys)

  • @thepeacedrummer ummm......... zildjian k dark series, lol?

  • @TheBeatleDrummer just becuase it says k dark series doesn't mean that it actually have a dark sound. (i was meaning in general)

  • @thepeacedrummer From my experience, almost all Paiste have a brighter tone than Zildjian when comparing to the proper types in each company. Especially in the overtones, Paiste are very bright sounding.

K Custom Darks, are very dark sounding, so I'm not sure where you are coming from on that.

    My opinion though I guess.

  • @rollerghost615 In other words, (from my opinion) go with sabian guys.

  • @thepeacedrummer I like cymbals from all cymbal companies, but for crashes and chinas, I definitely like Sabian the best.

For rides, splashes, and hats I'm a Zildjian man.

For effect cymbals and gongs, I like Paiste and Hammerax.

    :)

  • @rollerghost615 I know this is off the topic that we were talking about But i think wuhan has pretty chinas too(trashy). I use a 20" wuhan right now but i wish i could buy a sabian.

  • @thepeacedrummer I want the Wuhan 27" China. That thing is beastly awesome. Like owning a thunderstorm. :)

  • @rollerghost615 they make a 27" china?

  • @thepeacedrummer Yep, only cymbal of theirs that I truly like. Looks up Memphis Drum Shop's demonstration of it. :)

  • WE PAISTE CYMBALS FIRST CAME OUT , A MUSIC SHOP IN IRELAND SENT 6 CRACKED CYMBALS ...BACK,,, THEY NEVER SOLD PAISTE AFTER THAT,,,

  • That Paiste Sound Formula Crystal Crash is junk.

  • Paiste sounds really dry compared to the Zildjian cymbals. Of course you have to know what you like more.

  • YES paiste are better than zildjians but you have to give zildjians credit. i mean they make good cymbals to even though the are not as exsplosive and dark as a paiste they still have a good quality sound...but dont get me wrong paiste is my faviorte hands down, but i have had both paiste and zildjian on my kit and niether one ever let me down. but if i had a choice....I WOULD MOST DEFFINATLY GET A PAISTE!!!!!

  • PAISTE ALL THE WAY

  • ARGH MY EARS!!

  • honestly the comparison between various series don't compare all that well on there own charts like Z custom should be compared to like signature and avedis to like 2002 :)) but PAISTE all the way!

  • Anyone notice that the paiste's sound bright, but the zildjian's sound mire darker?

  • @mythkid1208 opposite man, paiste's sound darker, zildjians sound brighter.

  • paiste alpha crash rules

  • paiste sounds lighter than the zildjians and zildjian sounds darker than the paistes. i prefer the zildjians but have no problem with paiste.

  • Alpha since they sound lower pith which I like

  • zildjian is nowhere near paiste, especially the Giant Beats

  • @aeronirvanazeppelin Its all taste.

  • Paiste All The Way !!!

  • PAISTE of course! (Signature, 2oo2, Traditional, Twenty, Soundformula)

  • Yeah!!!!!!

    Zidljian.......

  • Zildjian, by far

  • I like the Paiste so much better

  • i think this is unfair, they are putting alpha series (intermediate level) up against K customs (professional level). I would put paiste's signature series up against anything, they sound crazy.

  • Paiste cymbals sounds like a simple piece of metal, zildjian hace the perfect sound for any kind of music be crash, be ride, be hi-hats zildjian is the best and you can check it many of the most famous drummers use zildjian cymbals like Vinnie Colaiuta Simon Phillips Dennis Chambers Steve Gadd Steve Jordan anyway here just matters the likes that everyone have

  • Sabian

  • Paiste's ride and hi hats are way better than Zildjian or Sabian to me, but I don't like the crashes much, I stick to Zildjian Armand or K

  • I love both zildjian and paiste. They are different cymbals, but both sound great.

  • Paiste or Zildjian.... hmm, I'll go with meinl :P

  • Am I the only one that prefers bosphorous?

  • @aNoReXoRcIsT610

I use a Zildjian K for my ride, but my crash is a Bosphorous Antique, and my hats are Bosphorous Traditionals... great cymbals!

  • Top end Paiste vs Top End Zildjian, Zildjian loses every time (may tie on some ride cymbals)

  • 2002 series from Paiste are the ultimate cymbals.

  • i preferred the Zs but I'm used to Sabians so perhaps I'm biased

  • I own paiste's and I think they crack easily. My dark crisp hi hat cracked very fast, and my full ride has cracks all over it.

  • nope still like zildjian better no matter what u guys say. Call me ignorant but i still think they are best sounding. People now adays love that tone thet cymbals have. guess what! that tone isnt suposed to be that loud. If you play in the wrong key it can fuck the whole song up.

  • zildjians are better but 2 lesos run zildjian now :(

  • mm I dont know about u guys, I had paistes and loved em but, I just got tired of their sound, so gongy and "metallic". Zildjian sounds more natural and that comes from a Sabian fan.I lol at the comments, I mean, "paiste china, paiste crash, paiste crash again, so paiste is better" oh come on you cant be serious, paiste china!? that sounded like shit, the crashes sounded decent but the zils eat em alive. I love paiste dont misunderstand me, but they are the most overhyped cymbal company ever ...

  • @luiggiibanez No actually Meinl is the most overhyped, and for the wrong reasons. I have to agree on what you're saying. I've been playing with zildjian A custom and Armand. Recently I bought 2 2002 crashes 18" and 20' and a giant beat hihat, but I have to say, even tho i love the sound.. Live I prefer my zild. They cut more through the mix and sound more open.

As for this video, not meant to luiggi. It's ridiculous! It's like comparing apples and peaches! None is better it's the sound u want.

  • Zildjian had that long sustain, and dark sounding. Paiste is much brighter, thats why i love it so much!!!

  • Back in the late 70's the zildjians ruled the world. The sounded great. I loved them. So i bought an advedis set that i didnt play cause i thought that just like all other big companys they would only get worse. Now years later the zildjian has lost quality. 2 years ago i replaced my k custum set with my advedis from the 70's. My god they sound great. used them non stop for 2 years and theres not a single crack.

I wish they started making quality cymbals again.

  • im going with the lucianisidro dude i have 2 zildjians with huge ass cracks in them and 5 paistes on my set and they sound amazing with even any damage!! and paiste actualy has a tone to it!! . . . . zildjian just sounds like it rings out???

  • It's all personal preferance. Personally, i like some zildjians. specifically, the Z Customs. Better than any paiste cymbal out there in my opinion... However, i do believe Meinl has better than BOTH zildjian AND Paiste. just my opinion though, as all of these companies make both good, and bad cymbals.

  • I like a splashy, washy sound... 2002's deliver perfectly, better than any Zildjian cymbal

  • zildjians sound alot darker and sounder

paistes are bright and kind of sizzle

  • paiste!!! ftw

  • paiste china, paiste crash, paiste crash again, so paiste is better

  • PAISTE are way better sounding and much tougher than Zildjians. When I started drumming professionally back in 1980, I had a set of Zildjians and ended up splitting them along the lathing lines, then cracking them, and finally knocking great big chunks out of them - all within a few short months. I saved all my money and bought a full set of RUDES - the first in the Bay Area. They sounded awesome - dark and explosive - and lasted 5 years or more. And I STILL have the 22" Ride - undamaged!!

  • @lucianisidro so true mate. Love your comment! The best comment ever! "Zildjians and ended up splitting them along the lathing lines"

  • @lucianisidro YEAH RIGHT PAISTE ROCK CRACKS VER EASILY SO SHUT UP ABOUT YOU COMMENT

  • @lucianisidro

I have been considering switching to Paiste for a while now. At the moment I have a pair of vintage 14" Zildjian hi hats, about 30 years old, a 16" A Zildjian medium crash, and a 22" Zildjian K ride. I play a lot of upbeat indie/punk kind of stuff... i was thinking about getting some 2002s, but what would you recommend?

  • @gdrugg2006 get the 4th crash on this vid lol. Its like the best sounding cymbal ever, well at least to me :D

  • @lucianisidro what zildjian line of cyimbals did u by

  • @lucianisidro PAISTE all the way

  • @lucianisidro yeah all well and good but saying you havnt cracked a ride isnt a good example, most rides are that thick, if you crack it your doing something very wrong

I ve had a zildjian ZBT for 6 years and that still hasnt cracked and thats very cheap

(and before you say anything I only use it at home I use different cymbals for gigs)

  • @lucianisidro durability wise, i agree paiste will win... however, he bone i have to pick with paiste is that there is no motion in there cymbals, it is too stiff. zildjian feels like your hitting a softer cymbal, in my opinion, zildjian sounds better because of the motion the cymbal gives when you strike it, i just hate the fact that all paiste's cymbals feel like thick steel. however again, Paiste makes really nice chinas.

  • @lucianisidro Tottally agree, ive had all types of cymbals and the longest lasting are paistes not to mention there great sound

  • @lucianisidro zildjian stinks

  • @lucianisidro ive been using zildjians that have been in use for 30 years, not even a crack has started.

  • @sweetness295 Any tips for hitting to preserve cymbals?

  • @johnpie2 well first make sure they are not to tight on the stand. Second, always use felts and those plastic things you put over the stands. The plastic things really help because then they dont have metal to metal contact. And when you play, hit them at an angle instead of straight down

  • @lucianisidro god i never realised how good paise are way better than zildian
