The only realistic way to end the civil war is to put another Saddam in power. Hold fake elections, put in power a charming 'uniter,' say he has Iraq under control, pull the troops out and write this new guy a blank check for atrocity and human rights abuse. This is probably what the white house wants anyway. I don't want it but a democracy is off the table and you can't leave Iraq the way it is. Iraq needs a dictator who the U.S. can control, even if it bites back. What are the other options?
