Verizon thinks we are all stupid. Personally, I will agree with them. I think anyone who does business with this company is absolutely dumb! That is why I dropped them for good last month and had Cox hook up within 1/2 hours afterwards. Yes, trading one devil for the other, but the moment of liberation was unbelievable!
Another bad commercial is that yogurt one where the woman is on the phone talking about dessert and the guy starts going through the fridge looking for it and she say, "Babe what are you doing?" like he's a 5-year-old retard. I loathed these Verizon ads when they were shown. It is so utterly wrong to continually depict husbands and fathers as infantile buffoons, unable to grasp simple concepts or make decisions. How many ads have we seen where the kids and wife roll their eyes, as 'stupid Dad' has no clue what he's doing? As others have said, reverse the gender and see how funny it is.

TV adverts are no better here in England. Men are portrayed as idiots who cant do simple tasks. Women are always "no nonsense" types rolling their eyes in the background. In one advert a woman pours a can of lager over everything dirty in the house and the man uses his tongue to lick the beer up, cleaning the house in the process. I think it was a Carlsberg advert.

So glad they banned this commercial. One of the problems is The Simpsons -- as funny as it is, it always shows men in a very bad light, where as at least half of the female characters show concern and good virtue. This reminds me of another Verizon DSL ad where the guy buys DSL to play games but tells his wife it's for the family so she will approve and permit him to keep it. He then looks to see if she leaves and yells something at the screen, she thinks he said something to her and she's like "What did you say to me?" and he's like, "Oh no, I'm in for it now."

So glad they banned this commercial. One of the problems is The Simpsons -- as funny as it is, it always shows men in a very bad light, where as at least half of the female characters show concern and good virtue. We are being indoctrinated every day to believe that men are stupid and emotionally immature.

Awe... I wish men and women in America had a better relationship. As someone who is not from America, I want to say that your men seem to not have any honour or sense of manhood, and your women have lost touch with their feminine hearts. Maybe it's a loss of tradition for both genders. I am only speaking as a foreigner.

It seems that women wish to be men, and men... don't always know what they wish to be. I wish we could be far more secure in who and what we are. I am VERY feminine, and wish that more women could be that way. It is possible to be strong AND soft at the same time - so many of us lose sight of that.

The idea isn't that being a masculinst means being an anti-feminst. Both are misnomers. Really masculinists and feminists are both arguing that people should be represented fairly without the misogynist depictions of women as sex objects and the misandrist depictions of men as animals. They are NOT opposing views. Its simply that neither have actively sought to bridge the gap between them. This commercial is clearly part of a larger movement toward depictions of men as fools, for whatever reason

This is the "drip, drip" effect in action, the ads before and after this one no doubt showed men in a negative light also, drip, drip.

This reminds me of another Verizon DSL ad where the guy buys DSL to play games but tells his wife it's for the family so she will approve and permit him to keep it. He then looks to see if she leaves and yells something at the screen, she thinks he said something to her and she's like "What did you say to me?" and he's like, "Oh no, I'm in for it now."
That stupid look he has while he's waiting for her to leave made me want to puke every time I saw it.

This commercial stems from a culture, a culture that is destroying this country (the US) with its bastard children, single mother households, and lack of responsibility.
Women want it both ways, and cry foul on the rare occasion one of their own does not measure up. Women of yesteryear had class and were feminine. Sophia Loren, Judy Garland, women that were strong of character, and were proud of being women...not girls trying to be men.
