I got the role of the mock turtle for my school play of Alice in wonderland :] does anyone know if that's a huge role of the play ? I just wanna know honestly :] lmao
@SaraSuicide13 thats because you CAN'T perform the jabberwocky without sounding british XD Even I'm sounding a bit british when I'm trining it and I'm german X'D
Alice is too bitchy and the Mock Turtle not sad enough. Also, why are they laughing at their own jokes? It's supposed to make perfect sense to them; all Carroll's jokes are based on logic and...I'm sorry, this is just a bastardisation.
I totally agree. Alice seems smug and lacks innocence...she's meant to be learning things as she goes through the story, but the way she acts its as if she already knows it all....and watching the Mock Turtle is painful...he's like a washed up cabaret actor who laughs at all his own jokes...the jokes are funnier when they aren't laughed at by the person who is delivering them...more subtleness required!! Hallmark version = MY FAVE.
no offense, but the 1999 hallmark version is way better than this(well its the best version of alice in wonderland ever) gene wilder is the mock turtle, and the same goes for whoever played the griffin with gene
Hmmm. I seem to recall the Mock Turtle as a sad creature who was very serious in what he said. He looked sad in his depiction in the book.
I always thought the irony of it all was that even though every word that came out of his mouth was a joke, he was actually dead serious about what he was talking about.
As mouch as i love that they use the scrip of the ogrinal book, but i hate her american accent. Alice is supposed to be a little victorian girl. My favourite mock turtle is Gene Wilder
Oh, my boyfriend did the Mock Turtle in his school play of Alice in Wonderland. "ONCE I was a real turtle...*sobs*". But why isn't he getting upset ever second like he is in the book.
her whole costumes perfect . . . i so want one exactly the same.

i think them laughing at the jokes ruins it. the point is they're all mad. in my opinion they would be saying it seriously.

As long as they don't have American accents. Half the puns don't work that way.

too bad they couldn't get peter sellers to reprise his role as the march hare-best one to date.

yes, I believe they were inspired from illustrations from the book.

That woman's strong american accent just slaughters Alice's young, english, school-girl character.
