Does anyone find it curious that the only two responses below with their pathetic attempt of somehow looking down on Rushdie can not even write comprehensible English. Rushdie does not need your pity and he certainly is not dirty simply by writing a book, which was misunderstood by so many and continues to be misunderstood by both Westerners and Easterners. I assure you a vast majority of the people that have negative or even positive opinion of Rushdie can't come close to understanding him.

She was the body of Britain, the avatar of the State, and he had chosen her, joined with her; she was his Beloved, the moon of his delight.". Chamcha refers to the character of Rushdiie himself. Amazing, he writes about conjoining with the Queen and the Queen awards him with Knighthood. Amazing!!!
