True video games are not about graphics. Its easy to pick up a controller and shoot zombies, but true classic video games were more like puzzles. puzzles that kicked ass! Just because the ps3 has a blue ray player does not make it a good video game system. Its a piece of crap if you ask me. I would rather play a genesis, and I was a nintendo kid.

that's true in the 90's because 16 bit graphics looked like how generic graphics should look, so developers focused on the quality of the gameplay rather than graphics, but today everyone is competing for the best graphics and are completely forgetting the reason why video games were invented, because they were fun!
I own a NES, SNES, N64, and Gameboy Color and I always find myself playing them more than my 360 ^_^

@TaInTeDlYnX Actually you're wrong. I played with NES for many years before and "during" playstation era, because as a child I couldn't buy a psone because it was so expensive. And for fun i still do play 8-bit and 16-bit games on pc with emulator etc. But when I want gaming to be more than running in one direction with defeating enemies for many hours without oppurtinity to save the game, I will pick up the games of today for sure.

I didnt find out about a gamecube ps2 and xbox until 2 and a half years after their release, and now i keep up on gaming i still play the nes and i have a wii ps2 psp ds n64 virtual boy snes gameboy and more

Back in the day, some of the games with the lousiest graphics had some of the best gameplay mechanics, while games that had wicked graphics (for the time) often fell flat in terms of the overall fun factor and playability! Seems like things haven't really changed; only difference is nowadays people care more for the graphics than anything else :(

@sonicnator You are wrong twice. First console to use cartridges was Fairchild Channel F. First console in general was Magnavox Odyssey, but it was not "programmable". It is not that I dislike the NES (hell, I love it a lot, even more than the Super Nintendo), but your comment was incorrect.

Whereas the NES may be gone, itll stand the test of time now than the original playstation will when it has its 25th birthday. Nintendo is just a better gaming company than Sony is and I've been satisfied with all of their systems (except the Wii) and many many of the classic games. You would be surprised just how many NES, SNES, and N64 games are on people's top 10 lists and how few Xbox and Playstation games there are.

I didnt find out about a gamecube ps2 and xbox until 2 and a half years after their release, and now i keep up on gaming i still play the nes and i have a wii ps2 psp ds n64 virtual boy snes gameboy and more

I wasnt around yet when nes got released but got it as it my first console in mid 90s and it was awesome. Still it is. Also played n64 in stores that was awesome too.

I havent seen that Nintendo commercial before. Consoles nowdays doesn't have commercials like that, what a shame :( .... Fun video etc, I dont have problem with that.
But seriously. So many people are saying that 20 years old nintedo games are better than games today?? Of course everybody has their opinion etc, but come on. Those games were good when they came out. But today? Nope.
And dont get me wrong. I grew up with Nintendo and played hundred of hours of Super Mario bros etc.

@joona1992 Games today offer so much more than games in the past. But there is one thing that I miss from "nintendo era". People back then didn't complain about graphics so much. SERIOUSLY? Are the gamers today choosing their games by their look? Damn, some gamers will miss some awesome titles if they chooose games by grpahics :P ...that is something that pisses me off some times. But then again...everybody has their opinions etc. Some persons experience graphics as important thing...i guess

I have a PS3 and I love it, but I got to say, the classics will remain the best!
Back then, they had a large selection of games and nobody cared about the graphics.
Now, everybody whines about graphics and complain. Most games today involve shooting (ex: Call of Duty, etc.) which in my opinion are un-original and lame.
Like what most people here said, Classics will remain the best. =)

@GhidGan83 yeah i like the ps3 too but i think the classics were just plain awesome!! i mean who likes to kepp dying and dying on a shooting game (dont get me wrong i do like games like cod) but the classics are more adventurous like zelda mario dk etc. besides its not all about graphics its all about how good the game is. my friends play cod games and one of them says zelda sucks (my fave series ever!!) but i dont care.its more fun then dying one too many times =)

@GhidGan83 So true, I hear so much crap about graphics these days and in most cases the graphics seem to dictate the 'quality' of the game...SO sad...
Back in the day, some of the games with the lousiest graphics had some of the best gameplay mechanics, while games that had wicked graphics (for the time) often fell flat in terms of the overall fun factor and playability! Seems like things haven't really changed; only difference is nowadays people care more for the graphics than anything else :(

@Shomanification Yeah but u realize that the NES or Nintendo Entertainment System was the foundation of gaming. Sure the PS3 has good graphics and good sound but YOU need to realize that NES started it all. ALL. you need to think SMART.

@gamax92 Firstly, I am SMART. I know that NES cannot levitate a house. I like NES (mostly SNES) but, it is obsolete. Let me give you a good question: If all the NES systems and cartridges were destroyed, would Nintendo will produce new ones? See, If you like or don't NES, It's your opinion. I give the facts. Lastly, NES did contribute to the foundation but, it is not the foundation of gaming. Atari 2600 is "officially" the first video game console. Think rationally (think smart).

@sonicnator You are wrong twice. First console to use cartridges was Fairchild Channel F. First console in general was Magnavox Odyssey, but it was not "programmable". Successful pre-NES consoles includes the Atari 2600, the underrated Intellivision, the Colecovision, and in some areas other systems, like the Philips Videopac. It is not that I dislike the NES (hell, I love it a lot, even more than the Super Nintendo), but your comment was incorrect.

Responding to your "NES obsolete" comment.
Whereas the NES may be gone, itll stand the test of time now than the original playstation will when it has its 25th birthday. Nintendo is just a better gaming company than Sony is and I've been satisfied with all of their systems (except the Wii) and many many of the classic games. You would be surprised just how many NES, SNES, and N64 games are on people's top 10 lists and how few Xbox and Playstation games there are.
