As a shmup developer, I love this review. Just for inspirational purposes, I'll try this game and pick out which elements I like most. So far, the premise of the defensive strategies (i.e placing walls for defense) actually balances out the available strategies quite well. My initial idea was to go with a classic, one-hit death on players but I think I'll leave that for the hardcore modes. Powerups doubling up as health works. Great review, thanks for sharing!

I am also a fan of this game. Have been playing it on and off for a few months. I started on Hard difficulty but that was too insane. Normal is hard enough, especially at higher levels. As you play the game, you must vary your strategy for different enemy attack methods. The levels are also designed to require good playing in earlier levels (extra lives, powerups etc). Caven was the hardest level for me...more firepower means death for you. I use a mouse to move and keys to shoot. 1 level to go.

Went to the website and their were blank screen ans SQL errors, so I just gave up. Many time small developers die for everything except the quality of their programming. I have 20 years in marketing and thought if I could get couple/three hundred a year from 20 or so small developers I could advise them and pass on my knowledge. 3 responded. It this amateurism in the non programming field that lets small developers down sometimes.

Wow, this looks great! Thanks for the review. It seems a lot like a game called "Alien Outbreak 2" that was on this computer as a demo. It had the same health/level system, which I think is really cool and it was so fun! This looks better though!

Why would fire in space be impossible? If the spaceship shoots fuel and oxygen at the same time in the right proportions, and heats the mixture, why can't it burn?

Try googling this: shmup ps2. Sorry, but I don't know ps2 games because I only played any with emulator. If you are OK with these flying superhero types, Mobile Light Force 2 is pretty good, or if you are into the spaceships, and side-scrolling is good too try one of the Gradius or R-type series. I haven't found a good vertical space-shmup for PS2, but I wasn't looking, since I'm a PC person. If you have X360, GC or DC try Ikaruga, that's the best shmup ever! (BTW anyone have sg similar 4 PC?)

Just looking at the video there's no sense of movement at all.

Now I understand this is an independent game probably with one or two people as programmers... but still, there needs to be a sense of motion in a game like this.

Don't think of it as a flame thrower. Think of it as a plasma gun. Hot ionized gas can work in space where flames can not. Just a thought. Great game review as always.

Hey I played the full version of this game. At first it does seem like a good game, but it is not. You repeat similar level forever, and it tkaes a relaly long time to progress, it just becomes tiresome. Its good art and graphics, but really slow.
