2 GB of RAM is minimum to multitask with Vista considering Vista takes about 800MB-1GB all to itself. Your duel processor and video card is also going to help you tons. With most of the bugs fixed, I would suggest going with Vista for its reliability and future use. This is coming from someone who used to HATE Vista and love XP.

dont listen to them. vista is not slow. i only have 1 gig of ram (because im lazy and keep forgetting to buy another gig) but anyways, i have 1 gig of ram and it isnt even slow then. it stays between 55% - 80% usage. depending on what programs and how many programs i have opened. and unlike xp, vista doesnt get bombarded by viruses, spyware, malware, or anything of the sorts. and i have yet to have compatibility issues with any software or hardware i have.

best thing to do is try to upgrade your RAM or graphics card. I had about 10fps in SW before and when i upgrade my old PC's RAM and GPU it went up to 25-30 fps. Give it a try

And at the time, M-Audio's customer service rep, said that they would be focusing on their relationship with mac and that vista drivers were not a big priority. You should of never bought a PC, they suck ass your better off with a MAC. They run faster, never get viruses and they never freeze up on you, you can run over 100 Apps. Once they got a large portion of bugs and compatibility issues hammered out buy it and duall boot with xp or reformat and install just vista. If you know how that is. Better to rely on a product you know has been worked on extensively then to care just about DX10. Besides most pc games still don't use DX10 and there is very few that are worth playing at the moment. Hey mate. I used to have this PC: 1GB RAM, Geforce 7100, AMD64 6800+. With those specs I was able to have a nice framerate while playing F.E.A.R. with Windows XP. Then I upgraded to Vista and I wasn't even able to play F.E.A.R. online anymore, and I got quite a low framerate on singleplayer, with the same settings used on XP. All I'm saying is that Vista seems to require more memory than XP, but I really shouldn't be a problem with your PC.
