  • This for me is the best Wing Chun out there. I can't recommend enough going to visit Sifu Ng Chun Hong for the opportunity to train with his students. Their standard is exceptional!

  • can someone tell my what is music in background? thx!

  • Very Good my friend ! You Know...

  • great stuff but what a funeral music

  • wow thanks for these cool stuff from melbourne australia

  • Truly Inspirational Gor Sau. As soon as I get that job, I'll return to the gym. I used to study Wing Chun Dynamics (Wing Chun with elements of Shaolin Styles: Iron Shirt and Golden Bell). I was impatient and lost faith in Wing Chun because I didn't believe it was applicable in real life situations. Now, I've realised that I simply have to train harder and train more to see the results. Again, thank you for an inspiring video.

    HD

  • beautiful wingchun

  • Very impressive!

  • The left guy in 3:00 is very good!!He realizes how wrong is the bong of the other and he slips..That happens because we DONT do bong!!!Bong must happen by enemys force..

  • Beautiful Chi Sao!

    Really nicely done!

  • nice video..if you want see my wooden dummy too..

    /watch?v=UkhyhZzxIlk

  • 2:51 Such a simple trip. Really nice.

  • Alan Lau, Thanks for this video it refreshes my faith that Wing Chun works with Gor Sau.

  • Cheers Paul, it also adds to my faith that there are more and more people out there able to appreciate what we do.

  • nice

  • by the way greaaat video, i like your wing chun, its very soft ^__^ this is how wing chun should be instead of those hard ones, wing chun should flow like what you guys are doing , not using brute strength like some other schools. Respeeect

  • Yes, the first rule of Wing Chun is not to use force against force. The power should come from the speed not your strength. But regarding the neck jerk, one way to make it even more effective is to not just jerk, but strike with the palm to the base of the skull. This knocks the opponents silly while the jerking motion brings them to meet a strike. That kind of force against force is allowed - when the opponents head is between the two forces!!

Looks like you have good concentration.

  • I've had the honor to train with the people in this video. I am happy to say they are all great guys, very knowledgeable, and helpful. Remarkable job everyone!

  • I know of a teacher who doesn't feel that the neck grab is a legitimate technique, because it's better to punch than grab. He said that one of Yip Man's sons took it out of the wood dummy form. Any truth to this as far as you know?

  • What you saw in the video is not a grab but the use of the hand to control the position of the neck. If you can strike the neck, head or body from where your hand is, then of course you don't use this technique.

  • not sure i understand then. if you can control the position of the neck by seizing it, couldn't you just as well strike it? I'm referring to :59 in particular.

  • I think you mean the neck pull at 1:02. I seized the neck after striking the face using my forearm. Upon seizing the neck, my other hand had a fist to his face. If I had struck him, that would be the end and Fai will not train with me any more.

  • well, really I was referring to the hand grabbing the neck itself....

  • hai egglot, i dont want to argue or nothing but as wing chun goes it actually should be anything goes aslong as you win, in wing chun we are given the tools to use in fights, either neck pulling or eye jabbing , kick to the balls etc, soo even a head butt when you are close 2 ur opponent counts. i dont knw why your sifu would take out the neck pulling and i dont kno why yipman's son would take it out from the form to because its useful i mean yipman kept it and this is his style in a way

  • i actually agree with you. i like this technique a lot ,but one of my teachers disagreed with its usage. thanks for your perspective.

  • hi egglot, you know if you are sparring with someone and they try to jerk/pull your neck towards them try this 2 counter (maybe your Sifu dont like it bcoz of something like this)-they're pulling you towards them you could one way counter by putting both your arm on their hip or stomach and push foward while moving foward, you will have to move all the while they will always try to recover their balance, they wont be able to kick or punch because they are moving backwards.just something to say lol

  • i'll give it a try, sounds like a sort of horizontal po pai technique

  • the counter to a neck pull is an inside gate pak sau

  • see for instance at the 58 or 59 sec the arm was traveling on his opponent arm towards the head, if this was in a real fight he would hit the head but its sparring, then after the hit connects his arm is resting on the neck, now why should he pull his hand away and go for another hit when we are taught the technique of neck pulling?so he pulled the neck if hewanted to he could hit a knock out hit punch plus the force of the neck being pulled makes the punch more powerful ^_^

  • plus its not really grabbing,it neck jerk, you actually jerk the neck towards you instead of grabbing it, if done properly can be really painful and hurt your opponent badly, also by jerking the neck towards you and you add with a punch that creates massive power, could break the neck, remember to that in wing chun we dont want to stay at a distance in fight, we want to invade you space and stay in and fight close, neck jerkin can be very useful but hey if you think its no good then its your call

  • @egglot12

Every Wing Chun school have their own opinion. But in the way I was taught, once a person gets your neck it's basically Checkmate. The neck is a vital part of the body. The neck grab isn't really just grabbing the neck. It's pulling the person toward your fist. The impact will be more powerful than just punching the person.

  • seen it a dozen times or more - very very nice - I love the give and take in your school - also very nice manners in all. Great commeraderie is evident. Superb. Also great to post 'without hesitation'.

  • Great clip Alan, nice to see Wing Chun performed properly. Cheers!

  • I love this wing chun!!!!!

  • Wonderful presentation of Wing Chun. Much thanks....

  • I see no strukture in the center,

I mean pelvis and lower back ect !

You can see it in the footwork, their movements look astable. You can't see

where the power goes in.. ..!

this kind of wing chun does not work under preasure !

Easy and soft does not mean that there is no power and strukture !

Sorry guys, but that is my opinion !!

  • Good observation. However I must stress that this clip isn't about how we would use Wing Chun in a real combat situation. All it is is a collection of footage showing two practitioners being assessed on their abilities to use various Wing Chun techniques in gor-sau and whether they can apply these techniques appropriately in a free flowing situation. (to be continued...)

  • (cont'd)

Furthermore, to ensure the gor-sau is conducted safely, both practitioners must exercise lau-sau (hands that retain upon contact) and without ill-intent to injure. Understandably, without the intention to injure, the use of horse stance or structure to generate force may sometimes be overlooked. If in the assessment we do not lau-sau or lau-lik (energies that retain upon contact), injuries to our si-hing-dei will occur easily. This is something that we do not wish to happen.

  • could you talk a bit about the differences seen when using the wing chun in a real combat situation? are there different chi sao drills?

  • Very impressive..........until you meet someone with real POWER!

LOL, only joking. I liked the clip very much. Smooth & flowing

  • Hi chisauking, glad you like it. As I'm sure you'd agree, if kung-fu only emphasize on power and ferocity, no one would be interested in learning Wing Chun or Tai Chi.

    (to be continued...)

  • (Reply to chisauking cont'd)

Aspects of Chinese kung-fu that make it so special are the ways energies are utilised in various forms; the yin-yang elements that are incorporated in the techniques; and the chi or energy that is generated using the concept of 'swallow and regurgitation'. (to be continued...)

  • (Reply to chisauking cont'd)

This is something that very few people, even the average Chinese, can easily understand or comprehend. (I believe you had the fortune of experiencing this when Sifu chi-sau'ed with you a few years back in England.) Myself and a few others are still in the process of putting this into practice.

    (to be continued...)

  • (Reply to chisauking cont'd)

Possessing good kung-fu, as portrayed in movies, isn't about how strong you are or your ability to resist force with force. It is about good techniques and how you can make use of your techniques to achieve your goal. Wing Chun, as we see it, is no different.

  • I love these lunatics!

  • Excellent clip Alan!

  • Thanks, bro.

  • Thanks, Yusif.

  • I done a little bit of training in Hong Kong, the experience was amazing, very soft chi sau, No EGOS, just mellow chi sau, that clip says it all.

  • Good GoSau training, keep up the good work!

  • Amazing clip. thanks for sharing.

  • This my friends, is real wing chun

  • Hiya Stranger, finish your studies back home in Canada and return to Hong Kong to resume your training. A lot of the guys said your motivation and hardwork had rubbed off on them.

  • Will do, and I am honored they would say that :) I cant wait to get back, ill do my best to keep my skills as sharp as i can. Say hi to Sifu and all the other Sihings for me! Ive got to say Sihing, really inspirational stuff, see you and take care. And great job on the editing and music, very well done.

    T

  • Good demo thank you.

  • very good clip!

sooner or later, i'll come to HK and train with you and your sifu, could I?

  • Thanks. You are welcome to do so.

The reason Sifu allowed us to post this clip is to 'open up' to the general public the flavour of his Wing Chun, as that of the 1960's and 1970's in HK as learnt from his 3 sifus (CHIU Wan, LOK Yiu & WONG Shun-leung), as an alternative to the 'mainstream Wing Chun' of today.
