I worked for a media company that did executive media training which taught that a person being questioned have certain rights like not being crowded by a camera or a microphone. Sometimes, with other media persons, it could be called assault even battery.

  • In your state you could move to a different state that had laws that were more to your preference. I am all for libertarian leaning views (like gay marriage) and misc. laws that don't have to do with harm to others but Purist Libertarian strains I think wrongly conceive of this idea that the United States were founded the same way. They might have heavily leaned toward that spectrum but if they all were and intended it to be they wouldn't have included state structurs, powers+delegation

  • Generally I agree with Adam Kokesh on about 99% of the topics he does interviews for but I really do believe that him (and purist Libertarians) have twisted this thing pretty far. If anybody does their history they know that the individual states were laboratories for democracy and that it was up to them (and their population) to legislate in their own states, reflecting the majority of views held within that state. The fact is that it is meant to be a country where if you don't like the laws

  • Honestly I think he has pretty solid points. His defense of the power of a majority and his little episode when you tried to keep him on topic may have been over the top, but I think everything he's said COULD be justified under the constitution. The "general welfare" and "defense" sections come to mind when I think about these things.

    All in all, I think libertarians should stop directing people to the constitution and start educating people on the principles that inspired it instead.

  • @adamkokesh 8:35 i think that guy is an airy fairy, but you should have made the argument that when alcohol prohibition went in they needed to amend the constitution ,the 18th amendment ,and when the repealed prohibition that had to get rid of the 18th amendment, so where is the amendment for the prohibition of MJ?there isnt one ,so it is an illegal law,there is no difference on the prohibition of alcohol vs MJ heroin or any other substance,though there is the narcotics act for heroin and opiate

The power in a Republic is God to the People, the county, the state and then the Federal. Our current form is the opposite, the Federal Government is at the top, it's all upside down.   • I don't get his arguments about the right to privacy. The right to privacy ISN'T just the 4th Amd., it's a byproduct of the "penumbras and emanations" of the 1st, 3d, 4th, 5th-8th, and 14th Amds. It covers things like a right to send your kid to private school, to use contraceptives, etc. His argument fails for that reason alone.

In a Democracy, those rights and privileges are free for modification whenever it suits the majority. in a Republic, positions of power owe their allegiance to the people. In a Democracy, the people owe their allegiance to whichever leaders promises and delivers most.

How do you expect business to conduct authentic Free Trade in which competition reigns (voluntary) and not by government cronyism and favoritism? If government is bought out by business, which of the evils do we eliminate, business which creates jobs, products and prosperity, (voluntary) or government which creates nothing but favoritism to their friends?

  • @SonjaSmith there's no such thing as free trade--it's impossible to ensure that overseas competition is on a level playing field. they cheat in every way--do you dispute this? we need fair trade. Ross Perot was right: free trade agreements have sucked all the good manufacturing jobs out of the country. tariffs are required to bring them back.

  • @SonjaSmith no thanks, they go too far. i believe that government is essential in the struggle against serfdom and plutocracy. it's the shield of the people against tyranny. interestingly, they're quick to identify fractional reserve lending (aka usury) but stop short of ending it and instead propose a gold standard to somehow constrain it, yet history shows time and again that gold only works to the advantage of the rich. the greatest depressions occurred when gold stds were in place.

We need to become individuals and free ourselves from all systems that propose a tyranny over others by force. Democracy,( Mobocracy), Republic, Socialism and Communism are all systems by force. Voluntarism is the only evolved solution against slavery from force of will. The Constitution is also flawed as it can be changed by the mob. Don't stick to it.

I like the idea of a pure/direct democracy because it is a realistic option that we can do now that could take the power away from the minority groups and give it back to the people. I believe that if given the option, mankind will choose peace and fairness instead of tyranny and that a direct democracy will naturally evolve into a Voluntarism system. It is the minority groups that have to use tyranny to keep their power.
