Ed Hochuli is a decent ref but he's a tad egomaniacal and comes off like he knows more than the average fan. I heard a time when he was giving a lecture about officiating to Big Ten referees. He was quoted as saying, "It's your game! Own up to it. Because it's yours!" The game isn't yours, Ed. You don't pass, catch, block, or kick on the field. It's the players' game. Not the official loving the spotlight trying to "own" it.

As a Charyers fan, I hate to say this, but he actually is an extremely good referee. He's only human. We make a mistake every once in a while. I think he hated having to give the ball back to the Broncos, but in the end, SD still made the playoffs. something about bygones being bygones?
