  • i'm not disupting weather the song is good or not but this video is sooo badly lip synced

  • @phate1489 You should never disupt the weather.

  • My favorite baked goods are Monkee clumps!

  • One of my fave Monkee's songs that very few people know of. Takes me way back...

  • Better than any song since 1990

  • my favorite monkees song of all time.....

  • Micky Dolenz is one of the most underrated performers in show business, as a singer and as a comic actor. Listen to "Goin Down" sometime

  • 5 dislikes!!! Well, I guess thoose people must have had their brains removed. And their hearts. But mostly their ears! TEAM DOLENZ!!!

  • one of my all time favorites by Micky....always loved his silly faces and what a voice....

  • Brilliant!! That impish grin..... I still remember Corky!!

Today is the day after Davy's passing, the world will no longer be the same ... a certain innocence has gone.......

  • Love this one! It's such a great song with a real meaning (most of their stuff didn't have any :P), and Mickey is the only one "into it," lol. And Mike yawning in the background :D

That outfit on Davy is adorable. He was so cute :(

  • is this song about the beatles lol

  • @kaiserkeller61 just the "4 kings of EMI"

  • @kaiserkeller61 Yes...it's about the Monkees trip to England when the Beatles invited them over.

  • R.I.P davy

  • Cheers to the memory of Davey Jones! And The Monkees were great, zany fun. Even John Lennon loved their madcap humor as he compared The Monkees to The Marx Brothers.

  • 2/29/2012 Rest in Peace Davy.

  • thay sure were funny fuckers

  • I love this song! I love Mickey Dolenz. Davy too! You will surely be missed Mr. Jones!

  • What a fabulous track - these guys were so talented RIP Davy

  • RIP Mr Jones. Thanks for all the smiles. x

  • top stuff this one

  • wtf?...scat singing in the 60's lol

  • Goodbye Davy, you were a big part of my youth.I ended up a heavy metal fan!Don't know what that tells you,but it tells me you had more than the bubblegum you were credited with.Part of pop history,an honour sir,now let's catch that last train to Clarkesville.RIP.Lesleyxx

  • Good bye Davey.

  • LOVE this song and tis even better in concert!! Highly doubt they will, but IF they do tour, it won't be the same as with Davy..'least I got to seem this past summer...may he be resting well :(

  • If you Google the meaning of this song, it is fascinating, and makes listening to it even more enjoyable!! Am soooo glad I found my way to this song, had not heard it before today!! and I LOVE it!!! RIP Davy J :(

  • que saudades ...não perdia um capítulo...obrigado filho pelo presente.

  • RIP :(

  • A precursor to Head, drugs must have been taken

  • Drugs were taken!

  • One of the best Monkees singles and a favourite of mine at the time, as a kid. Then, a decade ago I interviewed Dolenz about this and their best recordings, fascinating, will post

  • I loved this! RIP Davey.....

  • In late 1967, when a 'hit' in the UK, this song was called 'Alternate Title'!

  • Gonna miss him...

  • :( :( :( :( :( davey jones :( :( :( :( :(

  • Their finest moment!

    RIP Davey. :(

  • now there playin the monkees in heaven......here we come walkin down the street

  • R.I.P Davy! This was one of my faves, still is!

  • Alternative Title?

  • @homerjsinnott Haha...as a kid I always thought the name was "Girl In Yellow Dress" :)

  • @homerjsinnott The name of the song was given for the UK release. RSG was a slang demeaning people that came from Liverpool (Beatles)...Micky wrote the song after a heavy night of parting with the Beatles and Monkees together.

  • You will be missed Davy Jones.

  • There's more to this song than meets the ear...

  • RIP Davy Jones :0( x

  • Rest in peace Davy Jones

  • RIP DAVY

  • the first time you see Mike in the he is making faces

  • Nesmith's yawn is likely intentional, directed toward the directors of the show who are producing these programmed videos and not allowing him any artistic flexibility of his own. He fought to play his own songs all the time, you can see he is somewhat pouting with his early on mock smile (I'm sure they told the boys to smile), his stoic stance, the yawn, it's all so-Nesmith at this point of the show...they probably thought, hell, might as go with it.

  • I wonder what was with the yawn from Nesmith?

  • Filmed at the same time as Daydream Believer. Strangely, the Monks thought Daydream Believer was a B side knock off song. It became their #1 best seller.

  • This is truly amazing, Mickey is the drummer but sings amazingly!

  • his eyebrows trip me out

  • Mickey is quite the scatman!

  • Massive lift from "Flowers on The Wall"

    But fun anyway...

  • Not one of thier better songs however I do agree better than ANYTHING 2012 has to offer

  • Them eyebrow wiggles

  • I love what the guys were doing, here. Fulfillment of their contract included acting ridiculous, which they clearly exploited.

  • Ive spent the best part of 20 years trying to play the poncho like Mickey

  • saudades do passado, foi muito bom...

  • John Leguizamo borrows his facial expressions heavily from Micky..whenever he is giving a purposeful crazy look or pulling a funny face..

  • i've got to hire an assasin to go and get those three dislikers. TEAM DOLENZ!!!

  • @littleblackneko1 FOUR...

  • This is a great song...I love the monkees but man do those '60s clothes look uncomfortable!

  • BETTER THAN ANY SOING IN 2012

  • @XXXHELLZxDEMONXXX Isn't that the truth:)

  • @XXXHELLZxDEMONXXX Yeah, let's call them "songs".

  • And the Monkees were offered the song 'Sugar Sugar' but they turned it down as they thought it was too simple for what they wanted to record..thats how the Archies came about, because the writer invented cartoon characters to sing the song as they wouldn't be tempremental

  • does peter have a tatoo on his hand?!

  • @wandaluverr probably henna or something like that... in the late '60s ppl were into hanging out with my Hindi cousins LOL

  • @vashydana lol haha

  • Wait wait wait wait, did the Monkees effing invent punk rock? yes I think they did

  • @TheMonkees608 Good old Michael Nesmith: the only guy in America who can yawn and play guitar at the same time. Clearly he was bored out of his mind by the time "Randy Scouse Git" was filmed.

  • @timepoet77 I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who notices Nesmith yawning at 1:12. He was obviously bored at having to lip sync & pretend to play his guitar when they filmed this music video.

  • lol wut micky doing with his eyeborws at the begingin?! ahahahha

  • @wandaluverr He likes to play. very fun very funny

  • I love Naugahyde!

  • Mike: *oh I don;t get to sing this one...fine... *yaaaaaaawn* oh crap, we're still filming...*

  • *band

  • mike making faces in the background, peter's hands off sync with the song, and davy playing when there's no drums. Thats why i love this bad XD

  • IM 16 YEARS OLD AND I LOVE ALL THE MONKEES MUSIC! BEEN LISTENING TO THEM SINCE I WAS 5 :) I WISH EVERYONE MY AGE COULD LISTEN TO MUSIC AS GOOD AS THIS :/

  • @TheEt1995 i am o nly three weeks old and i love howlin wolf and elmore james and dizzy gellesppie better then the monkees but i sure love me some buddy holly -chuck berry and bo diddly the best

  • lol when he says time he looks @ his watchless hand

  • I really love Mike's 12 string guitar. I want to know how stole it, because the person needs to give it back to him.

  • it's never too late,.. they just toured this summer (here) ,..Micky did this song too,..

stay tuned,... g to monkees.net cheers.

  • Does anyone really......really listen to the words?

  • @cindy85123 I don't. A good song is the tune and the beat. If the words match then great, if not it doesn't really matter if the other stuff is great.

  • The Monkees rock... eeehhheehheheheheegjhfhokjiki;o

  • Mickey pulling Jerry Lewis faces. Classic! But it detracts from what is a great vocal performance on this song (written by the band)

  • Cool song. Mickey Dolenz is a great singer.

  • lol, nice faces Mike!! :)

  • always got a kick ot of " the 4 kings of EMI..." whichh was said to be referring to the beatles during their trip to the UK...

  • Comment removed

  • @chester7ism Not all but quite a few of the young Pisces males are sort of like that. They sparkle when they smile, So full of jois de vivre

  • Chip Douglas was on bass. Great song, great album ('Headquarters'), great band, great show.

  • Who's playing bass? ;)

  • I wonder whatever happened to the beads that Micky wears in this video. Did he keep them? If not, where did they go?

(I wonder about the weirdest things sometimes)

  • I don't understand why Micky is rolling and crossing his eyes like a dork in this music video. He wrote the song about his trip to England--and it was very prolific--yet he seems like he's downplaying its significance...acting like it's all a big joke.

  • @rockgirl954 Mickey was a big HAM -- it was what I loved about him -- a totally zaney guy!! I guess you had to be there to appreciate them. I saw them in concert at that time and what a blast they were!

  • Mike smiled in the song. It's rare to find him smiling in a song.

  • Ha! The yawn!

  • Getting a kick out of Mike, lmao

  • @MrGlassoniongirl Mike is the most serious one of the group. I suspect that he was trying to get into the slight wackiness of the song

  • @kzoladyj

I suppose, but just because someone is serious doesn`t mean he has no humor or no sense of fun.

Look at Elephant Parts, that shows it very well.

  • @MrGlassoniongirl I really like him, he is just not naturally wacky/ zany

  • I just want to thank my dad for making me grow up listening and watching the monkees and other bands from the 60s, 70s, and 50s. I also want to thank TheMonkees608 for uploading these videos. Thank You!

  • Bonkers.

  • I was put in the wrong decade.. i should've been born in the 40's so i could grow up in my 4 favorite decades...but no i was born in '96

damn i love The Monkees :D

  • @sallyg270 I feel for ya. I got the same problem, why am I not in the decade that I should've been in? If only, if only. I would've gone to all their concerts, seen all the shows, bought all the records... Dang it.

  • @monkee1996 It sucks D: . i would love to see them live!! i have some of there records, there hard to find

  • @monkee1996 You poor poor kids, having to listen to all the crap on the radio today. I'm old, had Monkee madeness at age 15, and I don't understand why you guys put up with the $hit that is today.

  • @ssuussaann lol most ppl do but i doubt anyone watching this video listens to that stuff

  • @ssuussaann I'm sure all the old people said the same about this in the 60s.

  • @barbarossaUK Lol, nice point. But at least 60s music had tunes.

  • @ssuussaann Nicely put. Totally agree. Btw, what's 'old'?... Is 55 'old'?

  • @K3KCT I define 'old' as being a whole generation plus, older than the target generation of the music. (I'm 58 and sometimes I'm embarrassed that I follow stuff like this, but I know I shouldn't be.)

  • so far, my favorate song of theirs... love that my kids now know and love the monkeys, too...!!!

  • im 15 and i LOVE the monkeys always have since i was 5 :)

  • I just noticed something....Mike in the back round....that's funny.

  • This song is very unique. All their songs are.

  • This is where The Monkees become MORE than a manufactured product of THE MEN IN SUITS. Sure they have something to say, and sure nobody ever took them seriously. If this had been performed at Monterey, there would have been a huge surge of hippyfied pop in the late '60s as a result of THIS SONG rather than the bubblegum that fooled all but the switched on in the hipster universe who championed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones...what a world THAT would be!

  • Had this single named 'Alternate Title' in June 67, a LONNNNG time ago now !. It had 'Forget That Girl', a great song, on the B side

  • I still love and watch the Monkees. All were great, but Micky was my fav. He was funny, a good voice and handsome. :)

  • EYE BROWS MY LORD. Pretty much the best eye brows ever.

  • look at mickeys face at 0:15

  • @pattypickle11 or Mike's at 1:08

  • Mikes eyebrows oh my god

  • OMG! Mickey's got chops!

I can hear Davy belting away in the back ground. This band was truly underated!

  • mickeys cute here also hes got the best voice of them all !!!!!

  • @angiebaby332 Well, it was known that he was the one with the real voice. He did sing on many of the well-known songs. I'd always thought it was Davy LOL!

  • Most of The Monkees tunes (not necessarily the "hits") were composed by The Monkees themselves. Especially the later creative ones after the first two albums. Jones, Nesmith, Tork & Dolenz (Dolenz composed this one) are all great writers / producers.

  • @klwewf I concur. Jones, Nesmith, Tork and Dolenz were all so gifted.

Tork and Nesmith never got the nod they deserved from the music industry :-(

  • mike your crazy!!!

  • Never understood why ppl ragged on The Monkees they had some good music... How about the scat that Mickey does on this. I also like the way the song ends thats cool. Also Davy on the drums u gotta love that.

  • mickey was funny here defintley 4 talented men.

  • LOL@Mickey! He's a nut!

  • THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER. EVER

  • Gotta love when Mickey covers his mouth because he got lost in his lip sync! I love these boys, and in my heart they will always be "The Boys"

  • @for2cents um what do you mean by lost in lip sync i dont really understand b ut if you can um lol tell me hehe

  • Best drummer ever! Seriously when I saw this like 8 years ago, I could never stop loving it

  • Such a great song. I think a lot of folks forget that Micky is a wonderful songwriter along with his many other talents. Thanks for this great quailty video. The original music video boys!

  • My Granny had that tablecloth!

  • Great quality video, thanks for uploading this. One of my favourite Monkees song.

  • I see that you weren't ever in band or ever played the drums in your life ..

  • I see that you werent ever in band or ever played the drums in your life...

  • this is the monkees that should have been. But with mike on bass and pete on guitar.

  • @ClockworkFacility1 I agree. But, they all still should have sang. And, Peter would have been either on guitar or keyboards - depending on the tune.

  • Anybody missing a table cloth?

  • Comment removed

  • This is actually the lineup when they played it live, Davy doing a swing beat on the drums and Peter playing the bass notes on his electric piano. And of course Micky on timpani

  • EXCELLENT UPLOAD!!!!!!!!

  • "The four kings of EMI (beatles?) are sitting stately on the floor/there are birds (Byrds? )out on the sidewalk and a valet (Frankie Valli?) at the door/

  • @juffan

    Not quite right.

Beatles correct, birds (girls) are waiting outside the recording studio (Abbey road) and the valet is at the door of the studio. It was Micky's impressions of his first visit to the UK.

  • That eyebrow thing.. Freaking awesome! >D

  • He plays in the most awesome way!

  • Separated at birth: Mickey Dolenz and Susan Boyle.

  • Somewhere out in the deepest depths of the known Universe, the television signals of this, first beamed away from Earth some 40+ years ago, have finally reached a magnificently-rich, prosperous, and peaceful planet filled with intelligence which, if shared, would cure all our disease and social ills. They have decided, however, that we are too far gone. I think all the others have, too.

  • the other name to this one is "Alternate Title"

  • It's a funny song and video. The quality of this video is superb.

  • Davy Jones never wrote any songs did he during the 60s.

  • it funny watchin mikes expressions throughout the song

  • @ballet953 Do you mean MICKY'S expressions?

  • @ballet953 - I've been trying to figure out WHAT he was mouthing. Given he didn't care for lipsyncing (even though music videos to this day use the same techniques), combined with the flack the show got, combined with his being a real musician in real life, it was probably his passive-aggressive attempt to cite discontent.

A shame this band, manufactured or not ("Headquarters" and "Head" both showing they were quite capable of doing their own music) aren't in the Hall of Fame. And who is in it.
