No. Atheists do not say that no one should join groups, 'Atheist' simply denotes someone who does not believe in a God or The Supernatural. There is nothing wrong with forming a group of like minded free thinking atheists, we simply like to point out that religious organisations REQUIRE absolute subscription to irrational beliefs, the problem comes not with a group itself, but with the way in which the group is run. It is not a belief that God does not exist but a belief that those who claim God does exist are making an unsubstantiated claim. The burden of proof of God isn't on the non-believers, it's on the believers. Just as the term appears, Atheism is the rejection of theism. Atheism. We aren't presenting anything that we would need to prove correct.
So, wait, wait, wait! Your whole argument was basically: "Ooh atheist are assholes, they're bad because they tell the truth and what not" (okay maybe not that part about the truth, but still). Actually I'm a Christian, but a gay-friendly one, if it means anything to you. I don't knowingly lie to my subscribers though, so that's also a plus.
