No in Capoeira height does not matter I am tall and my Instructor is short but he is great. there are advantages and disadavantages for either short people as well as tall people.
Is that a Meia Lua De Compasso or another kick? It seems abit weird since I always see Meia Lua's being performed like if the heel was to strike the opponent.
@theprinceofspain I'm not sure of what you're meaning. If you're talking about the kick at 01:04 which seems a meia lua de compasso but reversed, that is actually a martelo, many calls it "martelo rotado"(spinning hammer) or "martelo no chao"(hammer from gound), but in my group we call it "chibata"(whiplash). Bye.
Hes an Old School mestre and his teathing methods are kinda old school too i mean he still beliaves capoeira its a fight not a dance and its to be feared cuz its not to be taken as a joke.
well i know Mestre Bandeira personaly he was my Mestre Mestre he learned capoeira with good old Mestre Corisco witch was one of fist mestres in Sao Paulo/Santos on that time they had to "fight" for their space and many times ppl from other places like Bahia and other came on their roda to beat them and break their berimbaus so he was teatchet to defend himself his mestre and the name of his Shool above all ASCAB.
U wish u played half of what he plays... try search a bit capoeira its not to be biutifull its to be efective and believe me he is effective in his play style
I practiced capoeira for 5 years, and I swapped it for more efective martaial arts. Capoeira if traind hard and propely can give you very good basis for high kicks and some takedowns but nothing more. For what I trained and experienced, and what I seen and know I can assume that capoeira is good against capoeira. It was deadly effective in the times and place where it was born, but with evolution of martial arts capoeira with its more original form is not very effective.
Nowadays capoeira is more like a folclore and a culture than a fight, but we cannot underestimate it as a fight. Capoeirista against unexperienced person on the street can be deadly dangerous, so saying that capoeira is a dance not a fight is also wrong.
Mestre Pastinha used to said that " capoeira is a dance when person is happy, but on the street in danger capoeirista express capoeira as a fight".
They don't seem to do much acrobatics do they ?

Neither do you apparently, real capoeirista's are never so egotistical and harsh, the spirit of the art doesn't allow it
If someone says something wrong or assumes something ridiculous just let them bask in their own stupidity.
