The basic idea here is, tap your foot and in the same motion upon withdrawing the ball of your foot then come down with your heel. Practice enough and you redouble your kick speed by making 2 hits with 1 fluid motion. If Roddy used a ghost, that drum would asplode.

u guys are handicaps, hes not using a ghost pedal, im 14 and i can play those, theyr heel rolls, which if u do them right, with one foot u can play double kick basicly, they use them in common songs, just not that fast, in dr feelgood and walk this way they use them in the intros.

Why are some people so amazed at this. Take away his double bass drum stuff (which is really fast) and his top half would put you to sleep. Very basic, nothing technical up top and no dynamics what so ever. He has fast feet but that is it.

Sounds to me more like normal practicing rather than a solo by definition. But nice none the less. He is fast, but he seems to have trouble keeping up the intensity in a few of his blast beats. As good as that was, he's not quite up there with guys like Pete Sandoval and Flo Mounier, in that he's lacking the technical skill and creativity these two posess.

Speed is important, but not everything.
