  • Were the fx from the MC 808 possibly? :) if so, I love the reverb :) this still. Blows me away! I wish Image Line FL Studio had an SH 201 clone =) maybe in the future perhaps

  • Nice, it shows you've put in the time.

  • do you ever release stuff ? I'd be interested in releasing some on my label

  • Hey jackstar,

i would love to release some of my tech stuff. That would be more then dope. Tell me more :)

    Cheers

  • good job!! i really like your sound

  • Such a dirty dirty sound... I love it... You know I like it dirty.....

  • Christ! Whatever you did with that SH201 patch you have there is Fabulously Abbrasive! Nice sound indeed bud =)

  • Hey Plasma, for some reason im still suprised about this patch myself ;) only time i did get the 201 to sound so badass and that is even without any external FX added.

    Cheers bro

  • 4.5??? well it prob cant hurt 2 give it a 5* again with my 4th account :)

  • damn thats a nice controler!

  • very nice!

  • Great stuff...I'm trying some of this myself using all the synths to control GB/Logic patches and analog factory. It's loads of fun.

  • How would I get my sh 201 to control my mc 808 because I have got a patch I made and I wanted to get the sh 201 to a sound of the mc808 please reply soon thanx and If you could put it in my inbox that would me brill

  • hey dfhawk,

thats pretty easy. All you have to do is set one of the trax to the midi channel of your sh201, you can then sequence the 201 like it would be an internal sound.

    Cheers

  • that drum machine looks awesome... I can actually see how it works just by looking at it, and I've never used a drum machine

  • then its time to get one i would say ;) they are actually pretty cheap on ebay these days.

    Cheers

  • yea very good track!!!love you 'r styl...hope you gonna chek mine if you have time...o'pleasure

  • echt geil geworden!

  • hahaha duuude! craazy stuff! u raped the mc 808!!! really, props for this one bro. keep it up. keep on trippin ;)

  • glad you like it bro ;)

  • how do you sync them together

  • they are synced with midi clock and the 201 is sequenced from the 808

  • sehr geil, anfang und schluss finde ich haben was von anthony rother....

  • Danke für das Lob :)

  • uuhhhhhhhhhhhh! absolutely sick! i like this one a lot. your creeping death track is pretty good too, but i kept waiting for choppy/mechanical 16th note hihat patterns to erupt and push through the track and they never came :-( maybe i just have a predisposition to cram too much into tracks instead of leaving them be in a more minimal state. nice work regardless!

  • wow my two favourite roland machines in one video thank you man thats awesome!

  • very nice layed down! I dig it ...

  • über geile sache!! auch das elektro death geil!!

  • schraaaaaaaaanz!

  • hey. just a question. is this a live synth to 100%? or could you first play a melody and edit the midi and tempo of it in a sequencer?

  • To be honest i dont really understand the question. What do you mean with live synth? The MC-808 is a sequencer/synthesizer/sampler combo and can be tweaked in real time. Hope this helps :)

    Cheers

  • nice job man! i still have a mc505 myself, its good 4 standallone but it didnt stand up with the rest off my gear,it allways sounded too 'thin' are the sounds on the 808 warmer/more analoge than on the 505? is that a Fizmo on the background?

  • Thanks for your kind words. I also owned the 505 for many years and yes compared to the 505 the 808 really offers more punch and phatness. Still i only use the 808 for sampling and drums (which i really love). The Synth in the back is the Roland SH201 Synthesizer also a nice and cheap toy to tweak. Cheers

  • Hi!

Is it possible to use the MC 808's internal sequencer also for external synths? Sorry to bother you here, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere on the internet :-/

Perfect track, by the way ;-) Minimal with industrial touch, just as I like it ;-)

  • Hey unison,

yep its possible, you can use 16 midi tracks for that :)

    Cheers

  • Damn i have to get my self a groove box , but they cost a lot of money .

  • Hey Jack,

you are damn right there ;) actually they should be quite cheap theses days. You can also get some good deals on ebay. I would always choose a groovebox over ableton live or some other daw and they are a lot cheaper than an mpc.

    Cheers

  • i like how the groove box makes the beat sound more organic ,than if u were to make it on a daw even though its electro. But yeah thanks for the info i'am going to ebay and see what i can get.

  • Some nice underground techno/acid sound in here! Respect!

The mainly 'percussive' sounds you hear at 4:55, are from the mc808?

  • Hey Tim,

thanks for the nice comment. The percussive sounds are indeed from the 808. Gotta love the drumkits this machine has to offer ;)

    Cheers

  • Yeah i'm really considering to buy the 808, but i also really like the sh201 sounds haha. I don't have too much money, but enough to buy one of the two...

I think im going for the 808, because i already have a simple (cheap) keyboard.

Can you tweak the sounds in the mc808 good? Got any tips? (im a beginning techno/minimal producer).

  • The 808 really is a good buy but if you are lookin for some real extreme sounds you should have a look at the Korg emx. If you are fine with some great drumsounds (real punchy) and dont expect too much from the synth - then this is the machine. I like the way you tweak it and you can always use the sampler for some more xtrem stuff.

  • Hey, i've gotten my Roland Mc-808, but for some reason, the length of my parts increase, like they might be set to 4 bars then they randomly change to 9 and i cant get it back to 4, can you help me?

  • Hey drclown,

you should initalize a fresh new pattern first and while you go into record mode the first time set the appropriate length. If this is not working you should contact Roland Support cause ive never heard of an issue like that wiht the 808. Also google for Roland clan forum and post your question there.

    Cheers

  • awesome :) thanks man :D

  • Wow! Great tune! Question: what is your setup? You control the SH-201 via MIDI only for clock, or also for notes?

Other question: is it possible to download your music somewhere?

    Keep going on, it's great!

  • wowzers!!!!!!

    very good.

  • this is your best work, listening to it is a totally immersive experience.i'd love you to do more of this style

  • Thx a lot for the comment. Funny that you mentioned it because i feel the exact same way. This is the only track so far which i like myself too. Guess this happens if you dont have too much gear and focus more on the music instead of playin with all the new synths ;)

  • See, this is what I meant in my comment on the other video, you are useing the faders to adjust the sound in this one, but you weren't in the other video.

  • hey fivefoflow, now i understand what you mean. You mean the modulation of the sounds :))) Got it.

  • Anal Pleasure,

Just kidding, not my kind of music.

But keep up the good work.

  • It really barks at ya.

    Nice work bud.

  • Thats phat for sure.

  • Fucking awsome track!! I like ur style! 5/5

  • Is the downgrade of the 808 any good or does it lack a lot of the features? I want to buy one but i dont have a large enough budget. Cool track by the way. Do you base your live set up around the 808 or do you have more hardware? cheers

  • Hey lamond. The 808 is actually quite a good tool for live performances. It has great drumkits and also the sampler is ok for what this baby costs. If you dont have that much money to spend on gear get an 808. Also the Korg Electribe is worth a look.

  • awesome gear dude

    have you played an emx?

is there any notable differences between your MC and the EMX-1?

  • Hey funny that you asked about the emx, cause i just ordered one which should be here on tuesday next week. Gonna keep you updated but so far i guess the main difference is that the 808 can do sampling and the emx sounds more aggressive and has some live features more. Cheers

  • realy diggin your sounds! do you have any longer mixes to download somewhere ?

  • Hey Evil Shades, im working full time on my new Set at the moment. Club Tour starts this march so end of march there will be some live mixes available on my upcoming website. Will post more stuff soon....

  • Check out my new myspace account. There you can download some new tracks. Aciiiiidd :)

  • So does the 808 make a lot of really good robot sounds? I want to make lots of robot sounds.

  • Depends on what you call robot sounds, but you can get a lot of weird fx sounds out of it and you can also sample millions of robot sounds ;)

  • That track was bumpin'. I like how you ended it with the robot sounds. Makes me want a MC808 right NOW but I'm still saving for one.

  • Thanks Craigwa190E,

you wont regret getti an 808 its really fockin nice for the preice you pay :) So looking forward to see your 808v vids

  • That sounded great. I remember wanting to get a MC808 years ago but didn't end up getting one. I might have to pick one up now that I got some money.

  • Thanks Monnie,

yup the 808 is a great piece of gear, takes some time to get into it but once youve mastered it then it will rock for hours and hours :)

  • nice track

  • coooool ;)

  • NICE TECHNO!

  • Twisted...techno...madness...

  • very very nice!!!

  • Vielen Dank :)

  • Totally man, I've just watched this video now and...damn, that is some good stuff!

  • Thx Jeff, as i said the MC-808 rules ;)

  • hey my roland-brother! great video!

    big kissssssss, vivi.

  • Hey Roland-Sister :) Thanks for the kudos. Hope to see some new tracks from u soon. Cheers to Argentinia

  • Wow - just thought I would jump over and see if you were making videos too, I'm impressed! I love this track - it's so filthy, you manage to make the 808 sound really raw. I'm looking for a new synth - the 201 sound well nice here. Really nice production man, you keep it interesting all the way through. Keep it up, I will check out your other vids!

  • Hey siedgey, thanks for ur kudos :) Actually the 201 is really a nice companion for the grooveboxes. You get a lot of good sounds for such a cheap price.

  • This track is great! Dark techno! Just the way it should be.

  • Thanks sitonka. This was exactly what i had in mind while programming the track. Dark TEchno ;) Like ur style too. U have really a nice studio setup.

  • is this in exile vinyls?

  • This is completely live :)

  • Any more Comments? Please tell me what u guys like / mislike about my music. Im really interessted in your opinions :)

  • yeah raw roland power

man you have put some nice elements in this one i really get the groove 5*

  • Thx, yeah i really like this one too :)
