I never saw this before until 6 weeks ago on Netflix. What is the matter with these stupid studos not releasing decent old movies instead of crap like Kill Bill (well, anything with snotty Uma Thurman) and that Resident Evil crap my boyfriend watches? This movie is charming and sexy without the overt innuendos!
McShane sure was handsome when he was young here--but I also love the way he has aged. He is still very handsome and has an amazing voice--better now than when he was this age. He's a fantastic actor.
Also, if anyone here has a Netflix account, this film is avaible to watch instantly on the site! I've seen it so many times already lol I do wish they had it here in the US!
This movie is such a classic! An innocent young woman Brydie (Hayley Mills) with the mind of a child, and having no recollection of why she is the way she is. Then comes the brooding gypsy Roibin (Ian McShane) who can't help but fall for her tenderness and innocence and then their romance starts to blossom throughout. This is a film that explains a lot in the beginning, but the humor and timeless characters makes this film an instant classic <3
@PeacenikChick I know right? I've mostly seen him in the Pillars of the Earth and soon in the new Pirates of the Carribbean! He was so handsome back in the late 60's lol
@adrix3ana Deadwood is another great HBO series with Ian McShane. I watched it initially being aware he was in the show, but I ended up liking it altogether. I was happy to hear he'd be in the new Pirates, myself. Good choice.
This seems to be a good, poignant film from what I gather watching the clip alone. I would love to see it entirely but unfortunately the DVD release is only in PAL format which I cannot play in my DVD player since I am from the USA where dvd's play in NTSC format. Hopefully, someone will share this entire movie in YouTube soon.
@wowier Yes, this is a little gem of a movie, one of my favorites, made in color in England in 1966, a snapshot in time of the English countryside as it was then, and is a beautiful plea for tolerance... it was on YouTube but may have been removed due to copyright reasons.
