Without a doubt, outstanding instruction. I watch all 5 parts today and completed a full trigger job tonight. Positive sear engagement, very clearly visible, as well as virtually zero creep. My trigger now feels like my new 980S .22, tight, firm, just enough pressure. I KNOW exactly when the hammer will drop!
I followed instructions carefully mind you, almost 2 hours of smoothing and shaping sear. All safety mechanisms work as you demonstrate. Thank you! I can't wait to try it out!
Thank you your tips were awesome step by step was good my trigger was a lil different factory made than yours but filed to the angle i wanted made the adjustments as i saw fit took away more than half the creep and slack feels like a new rifle i love it
Changing the engagement from positive to negative will result to very heavy trigger pull. When pulling the trigger you are working against the trigger spring(before the hammer falls it has to be lifted a bit)The result will be 20 lib trigger pull.Just polish the sear as describe will improve things a lot
SUPER THANKS .. I had purchased a Russian back in the early 90's. At the price, who could resist ? Didn't shoot .. so I just assumed that was the way it was. A few years ago I did polish the hammer and sear block, much better. Knew the creep had to be done but wasn't sure how to do it. I would have done it "WRONG" if not for your videos. Geometry is neutral so I left it that way. Passed your and my safety checks (slamming on the concrete) and now pulls with the best of 'em.
I only polish mirroir like all of the contact surface and it reduce creep a lot, trigger pull nowcat 3 lbs and clean a clean trigger thks for the video!
I love my Chinese SKS but I hate the long trigger pull on it I don't notice it when hunting but I do at the range So I guess this is pretty common with them
Thank you so much for this video series. My biggest gripe about my SKS has always been the trigger. It was so bad I really didn't like shooting it. I watched all 5 videos and then sat down today and did everything just like you explained. My SKS feels like a new rifle! The trigger is much, much smoother and the creep is now like my Remington and Ruger rifles. Thanks again!
@esh325 I'm glad your experience with SKS triggers has been better than mine. But you're out of line to suggest I don't know the difference between a good trigger and a poor one, especially since you've never handled my rifle. Furthermore, I've shot many AR-15s which have excellent triggers out of the box. My SKS was crap compared to those. I still wouldn't put the quality of my SKS trigger up against an AR-15 but it's at least comparable and more importantly it's now functional.
I thought the AGI video was not worth the price. 15 minutes of introducing every instructor (even though only one guy is in the video). Although the background on trigger mechanics was good.
Very nice looking video, I can't wait for the rest of them. I have been wanting to take my trigger group apart but have been hesitant because I have never seen it done. I think I have a more neutral engagement but I want to try to make it positive. I wouldn't mind it being a little smoother also since I hunt with it and accuracy counts when shooting the 7.62x39 at white tails.
I've got a blog post with complete instructions for disassembling and reassembling the trigger group. Youtube doesn't allow links so replace each [dot] with a period.

@iakobos1970 I think it's because you aren't use to military triggers. I'm no noob to SKS's and every single one that I've fired has a good trigger.

Your videos are better then AGI's supposedly professional gunsmithing videos

Amen to that!

I've got many other posts on the SKS, just hit the SKS label in the sidebar.

@sailorcurt in theory this will increase the fire rate by one trigger pull?
runhorun 8 months ago
@runhorun Um...no. All this does is make he trigger pull more smooth.
