I don't know if it's more of a muay thai thing, but I've heard several others say you shouldn't stand too "side on" as well. They gave several reasons for it, so not sure which is best.
i saw a video of Bas Rutten teaching his stance and he said to not stand too 'side on' to your opponent because it leaves you vulnerable to kicks to the thigh. Are you able to check kicks with the stance you show in this video? In kickboxing do you block kicks using the shins or just with the elbows?

yes you can check them, he says it's more of a 45 deg than 90 deg stance.

if you are too side on you cant put as much power into your right cross cos you are not getting enough torquer from rotation of the torso

Nice stance - but I usually put my front foot facing to the left, so it's like facing my opponent, is that ok to do?
