  • I am interested what you think about Bas's stance too: /watch?v=5LEQJtWap0M

  • I think that mat is increasing his bad ass factor...

  • can you be on your toes to get around the ring quicker when you use this stance?

if someone can reply by commenting my profile or whatever cheers..

  • man i wish i was as trim as he

  • I don't know if it's more of a muay thai thing, but I've heard several others say you shouldn't stand too "side on" as well. They gave several reasons for it, so not sure which is best.

  • @Oracurax Because the lower leg roundhouse kick from muay thai will fuckin kill you man.

  • i saw a video of Bas Rutten teaching his stance and he said to not stand too 'side on' to your opponent because it leaves you vulnerable to kicks to the thigh. Are you able to check kicks with the stance you show in this video? In kickboxing do you block kicks using the shins or just with the elbows?

Thanks, i'm not trying to flame or doubt you. I just want to clarify something in my own mind.

    Thanks for posting the video

  • yes you can check them, he says it's more of a 45 deg than 90 deg stance.

  • if you are too side on you cant put as much power into your right cross cos you are not getting enough torquer from rotation of the torso

  • Nice stance - but I usually put my front foot facing to the left, so it's like facing my opponent, is that ok to do?
