damn...thats some fast punches...delivered either stun opponents then a quick elbow/kicks/knees...but I could also see that those punches delivered using the knuckles or the back of the fist are also damaging, special if it accumulates...
@TheKamehaus Your speed is outstanding! As long as those strikes don't scrape down but go forward, A lot of WC guys scrape down with their punches, go for speed rather than power or effectiveness. Good job! You will always have haters here talking trash about Wing Chun guys demonstrating, until they get dropped with a quick 4 hit combo. Ask Bruce lee's victims, many are still around!
WT is about continual moving forward and attacking opponent/s center. The chain punches are delivered as the base and body move forward, the apex of a triangle. Not just the power of the straight punches but force of body weight behind them. Infinite adaptability. No thought. The 'fight' is over before the opponent can react, much less get 'angry'. This video just demonstrates speed. Thanks!
i train WC for only a few months so i don't know my capabilities and never had a fight since i started training, but even with one straight punch i hurt 120kg guy wearing protective gear. if executed correctly one punch in the chest can stop the heart - chain punching = concussion, broken ribs , dislocated jaw etc.
@CAallday209 Yes, I did have the "chance". 7 or 8 times and some difficult situations as a bouncer. In two fights my fast first moves made the decision. Chain-Punches are just a tool. In the end it is lot about stability (stance) and stopping or interrupting the opponents intensions. All repetative motions is only for automation of that skill, in a fight you may not see for example one sequence of Chain-Punches...
...there is one other factor to those chain punches,..you may consider them week, but they are not, however, if you facing some tough oponent, used to recieving punches and have some high pain tolerance, chain punches can be used to provoke some raging reaction and blind counter attack, which even average WT fighter can use to deliver more devastating WT technics than chain punches.
in this demonstration he is probably very close to around 40 foot pounds per strike doing 4 to 5 strikes so even on the low side of 4 strikes that would be
40+40+40+40x4= for registered impact of 640 FP , if 5 strikes that jumps to an even 1000 fp "1955, Rocky Marciano had his punch measured at a USA military installation, where it is believed that the test was conducted on a ballistic pendulum. Rocky achieved a score of 925 foot-pounds whilst wearing a 12oz. boxing glove." 700 is a knockout
@MrMentalflossed ...would like to believe that... as I have studied sports at one of the best Sports Universties in the world I would say muliply it in the end... from my side I never said that there is knock-out power behind those punches... it is enough to break a nose, to get in contact with an agressor as fast as possible...
@TheKamehaus there is a dif between actual force exerted and percieved force by the nervous system , its the same idea as a person going into shock from multiple cuts by small shards of glass,.. none of the individual cuts cause enough pain or dmg to cause the effect but the cumulative effect upon ones nervous system is the end result,.. its really hard to land 5 as usually by the 3rd strike the target is going down and dazed pretty as well.
@MrMentalflossed Still, for knife fighting I can follow you... even one cut, and some blood can lead to shock, I think this is a mental reaction, not a directly from the nervous system, the shock in most cases comes through realisation of blood and cuts, that is why sometimes the shock comes after the fight... when you have time to realise... but I don´t want to keep on talking against my own striking power. Fast punching is a great thing...
@MrMentalflossed I loved your response on what you just said.. That a perfect way to explain.. I myself use wing chun mix with another kung fu with it and its a great way to really work at the right time when attacking n defenensing yourself
yeah i agree with you ... wing chun punches does not give a total knock out but a total break of the vital point or wherever you hit them at the points....
Impressive.......I like the speed. YOu obviously have good focus and concentration when you train. This kind of tactic can come in handy when a single blow is not enough
I'm not complaining coz that guy is absolutely amazing but although the speed was good he didnt have barely any power... it was pretty cool to watch though.
@lost36souls thanks, by the way – This was just about speed... a MMA friend asked me after training to show some fast punches... that´s it... for example: fast jabs in boxing are not as hard as one focused upper-cut...
@TheKamehaus Yeah...but if they're well targeted...they can put some hurt. It'll throw the attacker off balance for the bigger strike anyway. Awesome speed and vid
@lost36souls a thing to keep in mind about power and speed is this, when striking even just 4 times per second the human body can not tell the diference of each blow, the effect is not only added to one another, but multiplied at the end, that is to say by the time nerves register the impact it is overwelmed by the cumulitive effect of ALL the punches, so in effect 4 strikes of say 5 footpounds of energy is not worth only 20 foot pounds, it would be 5+5+5+5x4=80 footpounds of effect.
Einfach unfassbar schnell. Egal wie oft man das sieht. Geht ja denk ich mal gerade darum zu zeigen, wie schnell man sein kann, langsamer sind die Schläge bestimmt auch noch härter... Meine Fresse, die will ich nicht abbekommen! :P
the chain punches is not about power but to distract your opponent and make him scared and confuse...your opponent will be surprise and stun how fast it is, then you will give him the almighty punch with power like bruce lee....like bruce says, power does not come from swinging you arm but to use you hip to create power to the arm....
@vincentthegreat82 Well, technically it's not about power but also what you said AND where you direct your strikes. If any one of those hit someone's throat or neck or nose than these have more than enough psi to be effective
