  • 2:17 hit it red

  • 7 people need a slap.

  • If I could time travel for one day, I would go visit James Dean, but i would spend my final time at this concert!

  • how can someone dislike this video? anyway amazing song that marked my teens

  • I had the absolute pleasure of attending this concert in January of 97' -- i believe it was held in madison square garden nyc--- it was MAGIC -- as her dew drop inn tour had just ended in 96'..... those were the BEST tori years ......i agree with everyone ... it was intense and raw ---- just timeless xoxo

  • so intense in this part. well you know pretty well where

  • This is from the RAINN benefit concert... 1997 sounds about right.

  • I cry still. Like the day that first discovered her.

  • @jojo324 Jojo is my daughter's name. lol. I am almost reduced to tears as if I am a little child, every time I hear her!!!! She reaches a place in me that no other artist has even brushed the surface of!!!!!

  • Beautiful and talented, really wished she had not taken to plastic surgery. What is wrong with being normal. Looks that is.

  • @snazinhouston she got plastic surgery??? really? i wouldn't peg her for the type to do so. she's so beautiful naturally. :/

  • Who is this disrespectful bastard smoking think he is. That Moron couldn't even wait till he got off stage! I am ashamed of this guys arrogance..

  • i broke out "under the pink" a few days ago, haven't listenend to it in years, way to good of an album to put it up on the shelf!

  • Didn't this air on TV live? I have a childhood memory of this particular concert... anyone know what year this was?

  • @olives937 1997, I think.

  • I love Tori :)

  • This was my FIRST TORI concert -- EVER ---- I still remember like it was yesterday! I am so excited for the upcoming HUNTERS tour - 11' this fall --- come on TORI ... I am hoping for some of that magic - just YOU and a PIANO and that damn haunting voice ~~ I will be there FRONT ROW - BOSTON MA! xo

  • beautiful song, beautiful tori, beautiful hair, beautiful dress, nothing is not perfect about this

  • truky amazing...one of my absolute favourites, i'm in love with this song (and with the tori of the first 3-4 cds). she's fantastic

  • The song is as old as me it's quite amazing and moving to listen to this.

  • 7 people dont have pretty good year!

  • GOOD SINGER... PRETTY GOOD YEAR 1992

  • 2:18 gives me goosbumps.. she so beautiful ..she sings with her soul she touchs my heart evrytime <3

  • Shame no-one's listened to this song in 2 years it seems..... it's really good!

  • wow.

    wow wow wow.

honestly the best performance of this (or any?) song.

    EVER, yo.

  • nice song. You should also listen to a version of this song by Samuli Taskinen - talented guy with great voice

  • I've always liked this song, but that's a seriously amazing performance of it. Fabulous stuff.

  • Stunning

  • Reminds me of Silent All These Years..They're pretty similar to each other expect the rock bridge in Pretty Good Year. Maybe it was a earlier version of Silent All These Years from the Little Earthquakes sessions.

  • Great Performance!!

  • it's so amazing:X:X:X:

  • I was there, an awesome show.....she gives a great performance!!

  • I'm really speechless... I bow myself in front of this woman!

  • Who is the FUCKER that dislike this??? Pure Art!!! love you Tori

  • this is just breathtaking

  • Someone should kill the audience. Am I the only one, that hears these irritating screams?

  • Oh, well. Tori seems to love them. But MAYBE! Maybe she's not running to them to shake their hands, maybe she's going to strangle somebody! Great perfomance though, "what's it gonna take till my baby's alright" gave me goosebumps.

  • wow. i find it hard enough to play the piano without singing. let alone sing it as well as she is. she looks like she is having so much fun.

  • same here Coral, my first soing and I saw her on letterman doing it live.I would love to nibble on that bottom full lip of hers, but I am sure I am one aong millions of men and I am sure a few woman who have that same idea, lol

  • I love Tori and have seen her live a few times I just wish should wouldn't find it necessary to do the high pitched heeEEEeee thing in almost every song, it gets too repetetive

  • i will take tori amos with me through life. this is such a good preformance, i love how she radiates such raw passion in her music.

  • i have no words to explain what makes me feel to hear and to see her singing this song in the way she does.

  • I agree Kyle, I see no dad connection in this song either

  • Happy 'new year' everyone.

  • 2:18 nothing says "I hate you dad" like this unnecessary outburst.

  • i don't know what that has to do with her dad - but it is one of the few times live that she sung that part in the original octave in full belt

  • what the hell does that even mean?

  • it means you're a jackass

  • of course, that certainly clears it up. very intelligent response. Thanks.

  • i miss her concerts. luv, luv, luv this woman with all my heart. she was once asked about her religion and she said something like, basically i'm just into fairies;)

  • She used to play the metal springs under her bed like a harp at age 2, 3, 4...she won a greand piano at 4 years old! Beautiful child prodigy who grew into a marvelous woman~

  • this is the song that introduced me to Tori Amos also via the Letterman show a very long time ago. I am still as moved by her passion and voice noiw as I was then

  • This is the song that introduce her to me. There's a naked, hysterical ego hidden in the dark side of us.

    Beautiful song.

  • @coralinehue For sure, good call. Takes me WAY back. I taped this song off my VCR so I could have a tape in my car, lol. Beautiful song, still makes me tear up.

  • I hit it.

  • she can belt out a tune can't she. Boys for pele is a very good c.d so so is'nt the rest of her stuff, but I have to say putting the damage on from BFP is a awesome fucking tune.Goddamn Tori is awesome, and am I the only guy here that wants so nibbnle on that luscious bottom lip of hers while giving hyer a passionate kiss? I bet now,lol

  • My favourite Tori song too. Beautiful.

  • ya know greg was really burning cds tori wrote this before u could do it on a computer shes the lyrical gansta i love her

  • @sirex02 - lyrical gangsta.... ha, love it.

  • My favorite Tori song.

  • Same here. <3

  • This version of the song always, always moves me tears. Such an intense version of the song and always very special to me since it was this song that introduced me to Tori.

  • From the comments I've read here I guess I should get Pele.

  • that would be an outstanding idea.

  • beautiful!

  • I didn't know who Tori Amos was until A sorta fairytale, fell in love with the song, purchased Scarlett's Walk, connected to many songs on this, especially Gold Dust, which is quite amazing. Drifted and bought Choir Girl Hotel, it was eye opening. My hubby got Welcome to Sunny Florida and found some great songs to download and now I am picking and choosing songs to download all the time. I am currently addicted to 1000 Oceans.

  • if you got the balls

    buy "boys for pele"

it is life changing i'm not fucking kidding

  • I didnt see your post, I just recommended that someone buy Pele as it will blow her balls off!.

  • You've got to get Boys for Pele next! I think it's her finest hour. It will blow your balls off!

  • Fel in lov with Tori in 1992

  • This is the first song I seen Tori do when I was introduced to her via the David Letterman show a very long time ago.I fell in love with her from that moment on, and I love her dearly to this day. What an incrediblly gifted singer, pianist songwriter this woman is.

  • I had this on vhs tape.. i worn it out by playing it so much! beautiful i love this song! i wish i could play piano as beautiful as she does

  • dis song makes me cry!!

  • I love her even more.

  • I love how she does that at 2:18 Soo innocent and soft and then just erupts with anger and furry.

She is a true song writing visionary...

  • she's one of the few musicians who sound good live as well as recorded.

  • 1994 was the year my partner died. i carried this song with me to remind me that because of his life, even because of the pain, it was a pretty good year.

  • This has to be one of the best versions of this song ever! Especially love the 'what's it gonna take?' bit.

  • Excellent!!

  • i love ths song so much im doin a solo to it for dance

  • Shes a genius...they come so few and far between.

I love you Tori. U R my inspiration.!!

    ~ s.

  • That's indeed the best live version EVER of PGY! SO moving!

  • did you ever see the version on "TAles" collection

the DVD she does it for a sound check

and she said she did it for this boy that had cancer and he asked her to play it for him.....

    it ws really sad.

  • oh yeah, I have TOAL and that version also moved me greatly. But this one...can't really tell exactly what it is, maybe it was the occasion of the RAINN concert, but it carries a very unique vibe:)

  • The most beautyful song coming from the most beautiful female voice all around the world. Unique. Thanks Tori

  • Thanks Dan, I will check that out.

  • what a voice beautiul

  • This is a bit of an off topic-but has anyone seen a Tori video where she's sitting in a lucite box-hair's super matted and there's a police riot in the background? I was in it and have never seen it am an a huge fan of hers. Don't know the song title-obviously. Thanks

  • oops forgive me i meant to press reply, that could be 1000 oceans lolac, check that video

  • wow that scream was really off key near the end

  • I think that was the point. Raw emotion doesn't care if it's pretty.

  • Chills baby, chills.

  • I've got so such sentimental attachment to this song. "Greg he writes letters and burns his c.d.'s They say you were something in those formative years. Hold onto nothing as fast as you can..." :Tear: I am such a feminist in training. All I need is a baby grande and a butch...

  • People buy this video it is brilliant!!'Live in new york'

Tori at her best!!....like always!! hehe

  • This is just too beautiful.

    I love this concert. : )

One of Tori's best songs I guess..and definately one of my all-time favorites.

By the way, this guys should shut up.

    Their screaming is awful.

  • This concert was the best TORI offered for RAINN,I wish it was release on dvd!

  • I never get tired of this song. It's one of my favorites.

I love it how she makes it seem effortless, and the "what's it gonna ta-e-ake" part is even better than on the record.

  • ♥ this song!! and Tori!!

  • why isn't this loading for me?

  • this is my fave song!! i listen to my ipod alot! except my version has no words and its volin

  • can you spell tourettes??

  • each time i see this call it my manic coming into play she brings tears of joy, love ya girl

  • I am guessing this is from around Pele time because of the Harpsichord

  • Pele came out in '96, right? Yeah. This concert was in 1997.

  • i love the stream-of-concious song AND melody, the melody alone tells a story

  • Does she still tour?

  • Tori is currently (9/07) on tour in Australia. She is scheduled to return to the US in October. I plan to see her in DC on 10/26.

  • Arguably the best performance of this song. EVER.

  • If we could only have more song writers and or prodigys from "three years old" maybe the music today would have the substance to last at least the next decade. Can you imagine a generation or centuries? think about it.

  • It's the bit's in her live songs that are improvised that truly make her stand out, like at the end of this one. It's makes your hair stand on end and you just think oh my god, what the hell did she just do, that's incredible! That's the sign of a true musical genius:)

  • I think Tori also deserves a Fashion award- She has such a unique sense of style its weird but cool

  • I heard her play this song in 98, she messed up part of the song, and covered it up by singing "Pretty good Smear", which was an absolutely great way to recover from it. Good sense of humor to be sure.

  • tori is great singer and she has a great personality!!

  • tori is amazing! she rocks! ;-)

  • WOOOOOW! No need to say more...

  • Amazing, her voice and piano playing, really wonderful.

  • Tori is simply...Phenomenal.One of her great songs ever.

  • Tori is the best singer and piano player. New record coming soon...

  • Tori is superb-- in person and in concert. She seriously deserves the Nobel Prize (for Superb Musicianship and Personality.)
