what the ffff.....I thought the zombies cant go out into the sunlight and yet they when out in a sunny time, take a look at the background and mirror reflection
@Budiman448 First of all there not zombies, if your going to compare them to anything they are vampires, secondly, if you have watched the film, the scene was in night time, the "glow" was fire burning outside the house.
@SoreNitchy Those who get infected WITHOUT dying are intellegent. The whole point was of 'I am Legend' is that Robert Neville is the last human, thus legend. The official ending completly misses the point... well its a hollywood ending. This ending is more in line with the book.
in the book, Robert Neville is executed by the now fully sapient vampire mutant beings in the 1954 novel, that was probably the reason why he died in the original cut.
this would have been a better ending - i hated how neville dies in the original one, it seems unfair that he worked so hard and he lost everyone he ever loved just to get screwed over like that, he deserved to live in the end
Guys I know you think this should be the ending but that means the movie wouldn't be called I am legend. The original scene is more based to the story and if he didn't kill them he wouldn't be as brave and won't be known as a legend. He was known as a legend by saving the world. If not the world will still be in danger
@ExtraCrisppy No it's wrong, in the book he realizes he's the Legend in the minds of those things. He's the monster that took their "family" members away.
This ending makes way more sense because there were loads of scenes earlier in the movie that connected to this like the fact that the vampires seemed to have leaders and that they set up really detailed traps.
@AntoniCofara not the one where he sees the mannequin out on the street then accidentally steps on the trap they set up. then the dog gets attacked. and near the start when he first captures the female the male steps out into the sun to defend her because hes her mate and the leader of the soceity that these creatures have set up
@SyKoTiKSnYPer Because, honestly, think about it, they hype up all the "dark seekers" (vampire people) and for them to have them be like, "Oh..ok, thanks for the girl back..we'll leave you alone now" at the end would be an..."ohhkayy??" kinda ending. The fact that he killed himself to kill all those "creatures" made him the "legend" he was to be, (even though some argue that that's not the reason he's considered "legend" in the book). The first was more of a "O_O whoa." kind of ending.
An actual STARGATE/PORTAL-THING was caught on film in New Mexico. The footage can be found within the short-film entitled "SUDDEN PORTHOLE", which is parked at the PROJECT CAMELOT YouTube page (it's under the George Noory video).
I'm not selling anything…I'm just trying to spread the word about the unseen-dimensions we find ourselves embedded in.
My BLOG contains peripheral data regarding the movie and is where I reply to the "debunkers" (use search words "SAM ZURICK" & "BLOG"). THANKS!!
i liked both endings the original ending because he sacrificed himself to protect a cure for the kv that he finally found after 3 years of research plus losing everything that he ever knew and loved and the second ending because the mutants were actually pissed because he kidnapped the leaders mutant wife or something and he wanted her back
@djfrost12 ..This ending that you just watched was originally the original ending, and the ending where he blows himself up was made after this because pre-screen test showed a lot of people didn't like this ending. They ended up making an "alternate" ending which was the one that was used in the movie, the one where Neville blows himself up is actually the alternate ending....
He had nothing to live for. He lost his wife, his daughter, and his dog. So I can understand the original ending. But the alternate ending isn't bad either.
I have mixed feelings about this ending... It was a lot more tense, yeah, and there was a lot of emotion in the lead infected's eyes and face, and it was a lot more human for all those involved, but... It kind of changes the way the infected had been acting the whole movie, or at least how they'd been portrayed- totally feral and hungry. Plus, it made the ending kind of flat, and got rid of my favourite line, "Light up the dark."
At least they let him live, At least he acted civil towards the mutants, but i think the alternate ending is better than the main ending all for the reason that pulling a pin on a grenade and blowing heaps of infected up is uncivil in a way that he could of stopped it all which he did in the alternate ending so i think this ending is deep and makes allot more sense.
I think that this version leaves way more holes in the story than the one they ultimately decided on. This doesn't explain why the lady and her son stayed in hiding from the mutants even before they became associated with the main character. They also showed no signs of humanity throughout the entire movie, but acted completely civil as soon as the door was opened. However, if this could all be explained, i would prefer the alternate ending which has a deeper meaning.
@norwenglish he original book ends with Neville being executed by the infected, because some infected after awhile become sane and build their own culture. Neville regarded himself as 'I am a new superstition entering the unassailed fortress of forever. I am legend.' What that says is he is now a myth and this infection has created a new civilization and society.
I couldnt help but laugh when those infected people were hissing ready to bite him... I kept thinkin that I bet their breath was hella funky and I thought Will Smith was going to be like DAMN!!! Yo Breath Stank!
That moment you read both of the top comments and realize you prefer the fiery death that made Smith look like a total bad-ass over this sentimental crap.
I much prefer this ending. It is far more logical, and thought provoking - and much more true to the source material, incidentally. I really wish they'd kept it, it would have made it a much better movie as a whole.
I dont like neither this nor the hollywood ending. Zombie/vampire/mutant NOT eating Smith? I mean c'mon. Also... It destroys the whole meaning of surviving the apocalypse. You're going to survive it in either way. It's just that you're gonna be a frickin' cannibal mutant or a normal human. Ahh! Too complicated! I like the normal zombie apocalypse more. -__-
@NjamiSumpor that's not the point of the novel this movie was based on. The idea was the guy figuring out that in fact he is a legend, he is the monster in a world full of vampires, he is the human who comes and kidnap and kill their loved ones. it's not just a post apocaliptic movie/novel..
I prefer the suicide one. These darkseekers or vampire-creatures were made to hunt and not care about life. Unless because the Alpha Male who was the leader was more human-like and not like his followers who were vicious and hungry all the time.
Clever and more of a happy ending. But I can see why people didn't like it, and why I personally thought the other one was better. This one seems less logical because the vampires (or "darkseekers") continued to further regress. So I don't see how they could adapt again. Either ending suffices
@tarjay35 Still not will smith if thats what youre saying. because remember all the innocent people those monsters have killed. they started killing first if will smith sees them kill his family or anything or his friend he isnt gonna think therye gonna be friendly so of course its reasonable what he did.
Wait so are they even like zombies or infected things at all. I mean the big infected guy like is happy to see the girl and so the can love are they just like really weird humans and their not infected at all. I dont get it
This ending is a lot better than the "Oh look, these creatures that showed signs of intelligence by setting traps and the male that came all the way here for his mate are actually just mindless monsters."
This ending has a much better ending and actually shows the meaning behind the actual story.
@Silverknight16 your a moron. they show compassion? robert neville decided to stay in the deadly nyc when it was quarinteened for one reason to save everyone. quoted shrek? he was the only man alive on the planet, thats what he thought. noone has any idea what kind of mental toll that would cause. most would quit and go suicide, instaed of testing on them what do you think he should of done? sacrificing a few monsters to save all humanity is the right thing to do bud.
This endind was so brilliant. It had a twist. For once, the human was the actual monster. Even though he wasn't aware of it at first. Endings with twists like this and e.g The sixth sense are what makes great movies. This should have been the official ending.
@PeachIntoxication But the monsters started with the attacks first. And Neville was just one man pursuing them (mass killing them). What about the others who died to monster attacks who were civilians, who had nothing to do with Neville? It was an instinct to kill, so Neville was in fact the one who retaliated.
Of course this could be fixed if we actually got a prequel in which it is shown how the military violently eradicates the infected (who are still conscious and aware) --a motive.
@unbeatable24 If you want a mindless popcorn flick with your stock happy ending, go watch Independence Day. These "monsters" communicate with each other and show compassion. Neville quoted Shrek for 30 seconds rather than acknowledge the other human beings in his room and routinely experimented/killed subjects with a cold, clinical efficiency.
In short, in trying to cure the "monsters" of their disease, Will Smith's character became a monster in his own right. He lost his own humanity to it.
This one is completely and totally better!!! He blows himself up??!! Seriously!!?? He is legend because he did find a cure!! And did anyone else notice when she yelled in his face, both of their voices were better?? Not just hers!! The entire movie was pointing straight at this ending and the fact that they used the other is completely absurd. Mommy you see the butterfly?? No shit sherlock thats the fucking firl dumbass?? Dont run at them with a damn grenade????
This ending makes more sense, frankly. The way the male kept hunting for him was clearly that of someone trying to get their mate back. Moreover, it illustrates that his obsession with curing this disease was blinding him to the truth -- they were sentient creatures that had mutated. That he was taking their loved ones, the very way his were taken from him.
The fact that the "monsters" LET HIM LIVE proves that they have more humanity that does by that point. And THAT is the point.
@MrMerks2kgrime You are why they changed the ending; you've completely missed the point. Strictly speaking, the book should've been called "I Am Infamous" because that's what Will Smith's character is revealed to be to these Dark Seekers. He is legendary TO THEM -- he is their monster under the bed, their boogeyman in the closet. He is THEIR legend. And the signs were there, he just refused to see them.
The whole thing could be seen as a vague analogy to religion, probably. "I can save you!"
@Silverknight16 -- no, actually, you've missed the point entirely. this ending is a crock of shit because it perfectly illustrates the liberal fallacy that everyone means well (even fucking zombies.) While it's unfortunate that "sentient" creatures fell victim to the disease, they are sentient no more. The point is that the protagonist finds the strength to sacrifice himself, in the face of hope, to protect that very hope.
@Pontoon64 They're sentient enough to let him live with the knowledge that he killed dozens of "people" in some fashion for what amounted to no reason. And you've still missed the point -- how far are you willing to go, how many ideals are you willing to shred, how monstrous and inhuman are you willing to become to achieve what you feel is a noble goal?
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That's hardly a "liberal fallacy"; that's a cold, hard reality that is illustrated every day.
I personally Luke the original ending a lot better.
1-the original explained why he was the legend
2- the original established there was a cure and showed that there was a safe haven
3- this ending is generic
4- the original ending made you feel something maybe not good but not bad it made you feel as if dr Neville was so important to society and this ending made me feel nothing
I am happy the stuck with the original ending cause frankly I hate this one
@theroseandpearl Actuely the first is generic, this one shows that the "cure" was not needed because this creatures have feelings too. It shows you that he was a legend to them because he abducted there family and friends to experiment on them. And ended up killing so many of there loved ones trying to find a "cure".
So no its not generic.
Yes it shows why he is a legend.
This one might make you feel worse about society but its a much better ending.
@theroseandpearl This is the original ending. The one shown in movies was reshot after people didn't like this one. There are actually 'clues' to this ending left throughout the movie that they never cleaned up. It made the movie silly, as the whole thing was building to this, and then he blows himself up.
To anybody who said that they were vampires. Clearly you are stupid. The movie is based upon a virus that got air born. They were not vampires. So stfu
how ever says this ending is the worse is idiot. The entire movie ever subtle expression of the main vampire gave the feel that he was doing all of this to get the female vampire back. Like when smith's character captures the female vampire and the main vampire sticks his head out the window and scream... almost sounds like "NOOOOOO!!!". Made Smith seem like a idiot "There more aggressive" no you kidnaped the alpha female!
its more better, because it shows that there is no humanity in them mmonsters!

@leopoldvs Why not?

@unbeatable24 Fuck off. You have no idea what he meant. Don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about.
TheManMostMysterious 4 months ago
This endind was so brilliant. It had a twist. For once, the human was the actual monster. Even though he wasn't aware of it at first. Endings with twists like this and e.g The sixth sense are what makes great movies. This should have been the official ending.
PeachIntoxication 4 months ago 2
@PeachIntoxication But the monsters started with the attacks first. And Neville was just one man pursuing them (mass killing them). What about the others who died to monster attacks who were civilians, who had nothing to do with Neville? It was an instinct to kill, so Neville was in fact the one who retaliated.
Of course this could be fixed if we actually got a prequel in which it is shown how the military violently eradicates the infected (who are still conscious and aware) --a motive.

i thnik this ending is stupid, he is a legend to the humans, not the zombies, he dies for the cure, the regular ending is much better
unbeatable24 4 months ago
@unbeatable24 If you want a mindless popcorn flick with your stock happy ending, go watch Independence Day. These "monsters" communicate with each other and show compassion. Neville quoted Shrek for 30 seconds rather than acknowledge the other human beings in his room and routinely experimented/killed subjects with a cold, clinical efficiency.
In short, in trying to cure the "monsters" of their disease, Will Smith's character became a monster in his own right. He lost his own humanity to it.

i like this one better then him dying.

Personally, I think both of the endings were really good.
JunkArmor99 4 months ago
This ending makes more sense, frankly. The way the male kept hunting for him was clearly that of someone trying to get their mate back. Moreover, it illustrates that his obsession with curing this disease was blinding him to the truth -- they were sentient creatures that had mutated. That he was taking their loved ones, the very way his were taken from him.
The fact that the "monsters" LET HIM LIVE proves that they have more humanity that does by that point. And THAT is the point.
Silverknight16 4 months ago 58
@Silverknight16 This completely takes the legend fact away from him... him dying protecting his race and giving a cure was much more legendary..
MrMerks2kgrime 4 months ago
@MrMerks2kgrime You are why they changed the ending; you've completely missed the point. Strictly speaking, the book should've been called "I Am Infamous" because that's what Will Smith's character is revealed to be to these Dark Seekers. He is legendary TO THEM -- he is their monster under the bed, their boogeyman in the closet. He is THEIR legend. And the signs were there, he just refused to see them.
The whole thing could be seen as a vague analogy to religion, probably. "I can save you!"
Silverknight16 4 months ago
@Silverknight16
I still wanna know why they did not do this in the first place.
brenndon1 4 months ago
@Silverknight16 -- no, actually, you've missed the point entirely. this ending is a crock of shit because it perfectly illustrates the liberal fallacy that everyone means well (even fucking zombies.) While it's unfortunate that "sentient" creatures fell victim to the disease, they are sentient no more. The point is that the protagonist finds the strength to sacrifice himself, in the face of hope, to protect that very hope.
Pontoon64 4 months ago
@Pontoon64 They're sentient enough to let him live with the knowledge that he killed dozens of "people" in some fashion for what amounted to no reason. And you've still missed the point -- how far are you willing to go, how many ideals are you willing to shred, how monstrous and inhuman are you willing to become to achieve what you feel is a noble goal?
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That's hardly a "liberal fallacy"; that's a cold, hard reality that is illustrated every day.

Guys they are FUCKING!!! vampires if you read the book it also says that and the book ending is very different from the movie

I am happy the stuck with the original ending cause frankly I hate this one
theroseandpearl 4 months ago
@theroseandpearl Actuely the first is generic, this one shows that the "cure" was not needed because this creatures have feelings too. It shows you that he was a legend to them because he abducted there family and friends to experiment on them. And ended up killing so many of there loved ones trying to find a "cure".
So no its not generic.
Yes it shows why he is a legend.
This one might make you feel worse about society but its a much better ending.
kikyouwuv 4 months ago
@theroseandpearl This is the original ending. The one shown in movies was reshot after people didn't like this one. There are actually 'clues' to this ending left throughout the movie that they never cleaned up. It made the movie silly, as the whole thing was building to this, and then he blows himself up.
rodrye 4 months ago
To anybody who said that they were vampires. Clearly you are stupid. The movie is based upon a virus that got air born. They were not vampires. So stfu

how ever says this ending is the worse is idiot. The entire movie ever subtle expression of the main vampire gave the feel that he was doing all of this to get the female vampire back. Like when smith's character captures the female vampire and the main vampire sticks his head out the window and scream... almost sounds like "NOOOOOO!!!". Made Smith seem like a idiot "There more aggressive" no you kidnaped the alpha female!
