Record White Crappie

Sorry friend. thats no record White Crappie. If you will look in th record books you will find that the world white crappie was caught in Enid Lake at Enid, Ms in 1953, weighing in at over 5 lbs. You can also find this record and see its size at Bass Pro in Springfield , Mo. They have the mount and the writing. As far as I know, that record still stands to this day.

thats a black crappie, the spots aren't organized at all and on a white the spots are in vertical bars, i thought i had been catching whites for a looonnnggg time and just recently caught my first white.

@dakotajim How can you tell that?They both look the same the only way you can tell is by counting the spines in the dorsal fin.So how the heck did you count them when the fins are laying down?

@slimmdogg420 The white crappie kinda has some lines of spots that go up and down, while you can see the spotting patern on this one is very much that of a black crappie. Once you have caught a nice mix of them both it is really easy to tell the difference. Whites also have a slight difference in shape. I only ever catch black right now were I fish in South Dakota, but I used to catch more white.

@masonbell1 Thats actually a black crappie white crappies have black vertical stripes but black crappies have black spots. It doesn't have much to do with color it's really the markings.

nice fish, how long is that crappie.I caught one that was 19.5in long out of plum creek lake in kentucky about 20 year ago also on the next cast hooked one at 17in i never check to see if it set a record... but i do have pic, of it...i was using a 1/4 oz. white roostertail spinner with a minnow on the hook fishing for bass...my jaw drop when i pulled that monster out...any way nice fish...!!!!!
