@MrPeridot333 They're custom built. The one in the video (the 9 string) was built by Conklin guitars. I think he has an 11 string conklin as well. The 11 string you usually see him with was built by Ken Lawrence and he has a 12 string that was built by Ken Lawrence as well. And yes, Ken Lawrence is the same guy who made James Hetfield's main guitar.

Bass guitars aren't called BASS guitars because of their numbers in strings. Its more like, 'depth' of the note's tone. Like bass instruments will have a lower frequency for its sounds then others. I hope this cleared things for you. =)
