This is a great good ole rock tune with '70's poignant lyrics. As far as the performance; there is something weird going on with the accents; I don't know who is to blame, Jimmy usually rides the drummer to try to form that tight connection, but he seemed to be very relaxed about the whole thing.. Hey, its all about having fun. And this is a fun song (and challenging) no matter how you look at it.
love the Coda, this song the most, but you can easily hear that one half of Led Zep is missing... especially Bonham, damn, this guy is just unbelieveable.
Agreed - others are busting on the drummer - but you know what? The kid acquits himself well and one has to remember the audio for this is not accurate in terms of what the human ear would have heard in such a large venue. And yes, we all know there will only be one Gonzo...so this kid had some extra large balls to even play this song. So what is this young drummer's name? Anyone know?
I think it's Michael Lee (bloke who played on the Plant and Page stuff throughout the 90's) and sadly no longer with us. People shouldn't blame the guy - he was a fantastic drummer (did some brilliant Bonham-style stuff on the album "Walking Into Clarksdale"). Folks should blame the engineer in charge of the drum sound here. He totally doesn't understand Zeppelin, or rock'n'roll, whoever he is!
@Zebonka This was Chris Blackwell on drums (Michael Lee joined the band later). His playing was solid here. It's just that this was a huge outdoor show, and the sound quality is never great at those types of shows.
Oh true! I got him mixed up, all I saw was really long hair and a guy who was looking ridiculously happy to be there, which was Michael Lee's oeuvre during the Plant-Page tours.
There really is no excuse for the drum sound, other than that maybe they couldn't be bothered changing the setup for the Plant-Page set. Great playing though, I worship this song.
@Zebonka It's unfortunate, but if you watch the "Live from Knebworth" DVD, all of the bands and artists that day had a pretty thin drum sound. Oh well....
A melhor parte deste DVD, sem dúvida nenhuma, é ver Robert Plant e Jimmy Page juntos.
Puro Rock and Roll nas veias.
