"fuck the commercialism , we stick to words of wisdom on the perfect rhythm"
the freshest thing about illmind's beats is he always users drums that fit the sample. these drums would probably sound wack by themselves, but they work nice with the sample...you don't hear him using the same old signature drums...
Change is inevitabvle brah! - and the replacement producer aint 9 th wonder but still keepin that sweet soulful Justice League in intune and intact - no wonder so many thought your comment sucked Ass - cause it does infact - suck Ass - LB Wont stop cant stop (Get the song brah)
I love some LB & I even love illmind, Phonte & Big Pooh they have made classics but LB is not LB without 9th wonder .. I dont give a shit what Phonte, you or anybody says. Thats like The Temptations with out David Ruffin .. Phonte & Pooh sound great with other producers. but look... now Phonte & Pooh aren't even making songs. its been a downslope since the 9th wonder split .. BRAH!
Dude! My face is over here in knots....how the hell did I miss this one! Most underrated, most slept on group in the biz....next to SFP of course! Feels like Hip Hop again!!

He's a runner - Laura Nyro. She has a very beautiful voice. Kanye West actually samples a song by her called "Save the country" in "The Glory" off of Gradution.
OMG thank you so much for telling me that. I've been searching everywhere for Laura Nyro's version that sounded like this one lol. I feel so stupid now. And it makes sense now because when Laura Nyro joined 5th Dimension she didn't sing her own songs. Thanks so much
That doesn't make you stupid! I know who's singing the song because I was a big 5th Dimension fan as a kid. The song is on the 5th Dimension's "Loves Lines Angles and Rhymes" which is the album cover above
Wow! like most of ya ive been wondering what illmind sampled...what a great find...this is one of the happiest days of my life :p ...the beat is chopped sooo incredible!
because theres underground and then theres mainstream. if underground were popularized as much as mainstream it wouldnt be underground anymore. i just refuse to listen to tthe radio and play this off my ipod.
plus its also physically impossible to put all underground on radio and mainstream at the same time..mainstream=bull shit hip hop, the underground=REAL SHIT!! I DON'T like mainstream but when you work for radio you get to understand that its all business..they make tracks to sell and be played in clubs, parties..people arent gonna dance to little brother at clubs.
WOW....I dl'ed a leak album a few months before it dropped back in early '05. I'm just finding out now that LB changed the last 8 tracks including this track. That's what I get for not buying the album.
nah man... chitlin circuit was released to help build buzz for the minstrel show. when the release of the minstrel show was delayed further, LB put out a pseudo-updated version of chitlin circuit to keep the fans happy called chitlin circuit 1.5 that had several new tracks on top of the original, including this one.
Yup, I realized after I wrote my comment that what I have is the Chitlin' Circuit Mixtape. It had some remixes, bootlegs, and b-sides from "The Listening" on it. I guess this came out before the CS 1.5 album.
yo sware to god the beginning is the best song on that album...the way illmind chopped that yo illmind is seriously better than 9th ..no disrespect illmind is way more detailed and has much better drums...no lie illmind all day
That boy 9f is wonderfull..;)

i remember hearing this joint thinking that LB would never be the same... this was kinda the beginning of the end for them.
Just cause why would a member of the group be replaced with another person & on top of that the hook says "its the start of something new" ha.
