  • When CB was fun I had a Lafayette HA-150 portable with interchangeable crystals, very civilized! But you needed a license. KKD7414

  • Great video, Bill. I remember spending my paper route and lawn mowing money at Lafayette, Allied and Radio Shack in West Hartford. My first CB radio was a Realistic TRC-5. I couldn't afford the Lafayette HE-20c although my neighbor had one...I was so envious. I still have my Realistic Little Six transistor radio. I think it still works.

  • I loved going thru these as a kid... Thanks!!

  • that was great !

  • that was a great 8 minutes viewing :)

  • @brainz90 Thank You, glad you liked it.

  • @old64goat

Hey do you have any lafayette catalogs from he late 1970's I am looking for the 12" Trixial woofer that had yellow foam surrounds and the wizzer cone along with the tweeter in the middle. it looks similiar to the sk-312 however the sk 312 had the cloth surrounds with different baskets. can you please help. Great video by the way! My father had all the Lafayette catalogs but were thrown out when he passed away

  • @vnicotra I do not think so, I think I got rid of them all except the 1963, that one I kept.

I will check when I get a chance, but I doubt it.

  • Hi Bill Thank you for taking the time to show your catalog. I love looking through that old stuff. There sure was alot of quality and quantity of choices back then. Just like the stores that used to be in our area. We had Murphy's 5and dime/ Ames/ Jamesway /Fishers Big Wheel / Western Auto / Montgomery Wards/ Hills dept store/and everyone was closed on sundays ! now it's just walmart kmart & target. the old days were better . take care ///Ken

  • @kenjet86 Hi Ken, Yes there were some great stores back than, we had Barkers, Bradlies, The Fair, Artistic Wire Factory Discount, Frances Electronics and many other local stores.

We even had a REAL Radio Shack where they had sold tubes and had a bargain table of you-fix-em yourself.

    Those were the best days.

    Bill

  • Very interesting catalog!

  • @JeffN727 Thanks Jeff, it sure was.

  • nice video Bill, some of that stuff looks like it was very expensive for 1963

prices, when someone would make a cople of dollars a hr back then

    thanks Brendog67rat

  • @MrBrendog67rat Yes it was alot of money back than, I made about $1.25 per houre back than washing dishes in a restaurant.

I had to save up for the stuff I wanted to order from Lafayette.

    Bill

  • THE GOOD OLE DAYS. GREAT VIDEO!

  • @ncautoman57 YES they were!

  • What a LOVELY walk down Memory Lane. Do you have any Allied Radio catalogs?

    ~Cindy! :)

    ..

  • @CindyBradyTooh Hi Cindy, Thanks but sorry I got rid of every other catalog when I started to clean up the shop.

    Bill

  • Very interesting. That catalog looks like it's in good shape. I might have had one of those too when I was a kid, and I'm pretty sure I had an Allied catalog also. Btw, I'm an og too, just hit the big 6-0 about a week ago.

  • @Barnekkid Yea there were Allied. Olson Electronics, Poly-Paks, Fair Radio Sales and others back than.

    Bill

  • Yes Bill, I did enjoy that video. Those days are gone forever. Remember when Radio Shack sold just about every component needed for electronics, from resestors to tubes. Now, it's cell phones, plugs, and wires. THANKS BILL, C.W.

  • @harleyhawgn Hi C.W., yes I remember when radio Shack WAS a REAL radio shack, when I lived in New Haven I would go to it, my dad would drive us there.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Bill

  • cool video bill thanks..

  • @RAYGproductions Thanks Ray.

  • 5:20 I did and do have a Lafayette HE20c CB. I will repost my vid of it.

I also like the EV microphones.

The problem is when I look at my old catalogs, I want to get on ebay and do some treasure hunting!

  • @umajunkcollector I know what you mean, that stuff was real cool.

  • Great video, Bill. Was Lafayette strictly mail order, or did they have stores as well? When did they go out of business?

    Thanks for posting this.

    David

  • @lzdsl0 They did have some local stores but it was mostly mail order.

I think they went O.O.B. in the very early 70's

  • HE-20C is the tube CB i have, still has a few bugs in it but shes coming along.

  • @FelixTheHouseFreak They were good sets, but the reciever was not very selective, got a lot of slop over from ajacent transmitters.
