@tedudeskin I think it's a spear because the player is upside down, as in his head is beneath his ankles. With a dump the player is lifted, and then put down, without being tilted.
Sam has always been a tough defender. 150% effort in the line. When he hits you, you know it. I dont know if this was a cardable offence. It may have been pulled up as a penalty in the southern hemisphere as well but I think refereeing is terrible in general anywhere you go these days.
Im all for big tackles but there is no need to up end a player like that!
That was not a soft yellow card at all. In the eyes of the law thats lucky its not a red.
These tackles are potentially career threatening and totally unnecessary...had Tuitupou hit him hard as he did, or lifted him and driven him back then its fine, but the fact he up ended him and drove him 'upper body' first into the ground is unnacceptable!

It wasn't front on though...I agree if it was front on i doubt it would have been much, but that is like arguing with the ref after you have driven someones head 3 feet into the ground that if the guy had landed feet first it wouldnt be so bad...

Looks like a dump to me. A spear is when the player being tackled is upside down. Tuitupou is a really aggressive defender is all.
