  • WOW..that kid is great!!!!!

  • In terms of electronic styles, scratching is not always great. Certain types of music are more friendly to it. Trance is shite, House is okay, Techno is better again and while Turntablism is, as the name suggests, the very art of scratching and cutting on decks, the music played is not as mixable as other electronic styles, by its very nature it's not as fluent in the mix.

Personally I think Techno is the perfect in the middle genre. Nice to mix, challenging and friendly towards scratching.

  • much respect for his dad or who ever told him to do this on this age this kid is awesome

  • hes good..... better then when he was 5

  • damn..give this kid maybe 10 more years..

and he'll probably b another Craze.

  • he's a pro at his job )

  • Once again, Frankie 'Hollywood' was funny as hell as always. Looking forward to the next MixFest. My son and I both had a wonderful time... We felt a lot of love... It was great.

    Peace

  • I like to scratch during my House music sets. Bad Boy Bill is my biggest influence because being a DMC dj, I feel we are kindred spirits. He scratches a lot in his sets with his own signature style. I use that to integrate into my style of scratching. Check out some of my other battle vids w/ me house scratching.

  • I just want to add, and I solely agree w/ lrmxr1 by "Not limiting one's talent", that scratching adds to that final punctuation to the track that everyone is dancing to and it also tells the crowd that a pro is @ work. Respect the pro and enjoy his creativity. It's part of entertainment and isn't that what djing is all about?

  • house music djing is about the songs that the dj plays and when he/she drops certaining songs for the best responce from the crowd, not scratching as a house crowd want to hear the music not some egotist scratching and probably spoiling a good song.scratching has its place in hip hop!!

  • Have you ever heard a really good scratch sequence in a House music set. It's sounds great if the dj can actually do it. Check out Bad Boy Bill's scratching during his House sets. Djs who have a problem with House scratching are those who actually can't scratch.

  • So True! My favourite is Terrance Parker , he ROCKS the House , cutting and scratching thru it

  • was a response to JP GUNNz ; Have you ever heard a really good scratch sequence in a House music set. It's sounds great if the dj can actually do it. Check out Bad Boy Bill's scratching during his House sets. Djs who have a problem with House scratching are those who actually can't scratch.

  • House crowds are not into scratching is true but...as a DJ - why limit yourself as of skill? Farley is not going to hear every song released but...to hear a song and narrow down who did it is great. If I publicly stated all the white lable stuff I did, i'd have the R.I.A.A. on my back again. Nothing I said is to diz anyone - for the most part I am saying dont limit your talent. Many DJ's can dance, Few dancers can DJ.

  • Farley "Jackmaster" Funk did a party this year during Martin Luther King weekend. Tony Mundaca was the opening DJ. Tony played a remix done by Leonard "Remix" Rroy of "Love & Happiness" (that Farley never herd before). Knowing when he hear Leonards style - Farley says to Tony "That's Leonards Remix isnt it" Tony replies "Yes It Is".

That is how unique we were back in the day...what happened to that in the 2K House Music Era as of DJ's?

  • You are entitled to your opinion but some crowds that love House music really aren't into scratching. Farley is not going to hear every song thats been released. Give the man a break. DJs respect other DJs for having their own style. Hell, we have to go out and enjoy listening to someone also.

  • 80's Chicago dance crowd could listen to the radio and tell which Hotmix 5 member was spinning without their name being said.

    But wait...theres more!

  • The Art of DJing is more than just blending two songs together...House Music DJ's have become Bougé and are afraid to take chances. Ron Hardy was a chance taker and every other Chicago DJ of that era had a signature style. Now days one can't tell one DJ from another and that shit is sad!

  • In response to (((djlmonte))) Enhanced Scratching Skills go hand in hand with edit / re-edit skills IE: a DJ hear a song in their head doing things that they cannot do on turntables via TURNTABLE-ISM so...they do it on Soundforge then play it for their crowd.

    see next comment too.

  • this kid is seriously ill, thanks for posting this.

  • I herd somebody Yell "I'm A HOUSE DJ" they a weak dj if they have no turntable skills!!!! Leonard "Remix" Rroy made his bones back in the day with Mad Turntable Skills. Lil dude is on point!!!!! and shame on grown ass (Think they DJ's) who have no turn table skills.

  • Word.....

    Peace

  • I have to disagree with you. I posted this video and was at this fest. DJs have various styles. When a DJ main focus is House music his crowd is not turned on my scratches and tricks. House head want to hear the music blended. So there is no real need to enhance scratching skillz. DJ L'Monte

  • This goes out to the guys who post their kids on youtube who just scratch (or hardly scratch)... Stop fakin'!!! This is a REAL SKILLs exhibition from a child... Recognize!!!

  • hi hi hi hi!! Good ,good!!!
