Hey i just bought a B-52 LS 100 solid state half stack and the mother fucker sounds damn good! I also have a JCM 900 50w hi gain dual reverb half and that thing is the best of the best imo. But yes there are some damn good ss amps out there.

@slashowns102938 , I would agree that there are "some" good solid state amplifiers out there, usually the one's that are modeled after a tube amp. Hell, I own a SS amp, but what Im saying is, Zakk, saying you could record an album with one. Maybe you or I could, but not him. After owning a good tube amp, you dont want to go back to SS amp. They just dont breathe and articulate like a tube amp, they cant, they dont have tubes.

@6112turbo get a couple pedals and a solid state amp and youd be supirsed about the tone you could get with a solid state amp, dimebag darrell recorded everything with pantera on a solid state randall and his tone was awesome.... that being said though tube amps are better

@jimistephen, All right, here is the skinny, Dimebag used Solid state randalls because he was paid to, he then used Krank amps (the tube 0nes) because he was paid to. All I am saying is, If you have your choice of amp, the majority is going to use a tube amp. I never said solid state amps dont sound good or cant be tweeked to a aquired sound. AND I have played these cheesy amps...THEY SUCK! I will take my JCM800 over any solid state amp!

The plate currents run differently, and in same cases will short out (which is a whole board to replace). Marshall tubes are soo touch and go, and funnily enough they sound better with vintage 30's over the gt12-75's.

Man you are so right. I sent back 3 new Marshall heads in the last couple of weeks cause they didn't have the sound. I found a stock hand wired 1973 JMP 50 watt head... It was the greatest amp I have ever played. I bought it. The new Marshalls are nothing like the old ones. IMO
