@NigelDix Спорно. На латыни не говорят, финны бывают в основном в Питере и т.д. Да и азиатские языки чужды и не привычны. Для русского я бы сократил список до трех языков - английский, немецкий, французский. Не зря их нам в школе преподают. Конечно, для людей чья профессия связана с конкретными странами это не в счет, но... Ведь американцы не учат китайский, как мы английский или хотя бы немецкий?

Самый распространённый язык - это английский. В любой стране можно найти людей говорящих по английски. Даже не изучая английский язык вы знаете простые фразы. Такие, как "Спасибо", "До свидания", "Как дела?"... Откуда? Да слышали очень часто, по телеку, в фильмах, песнях, играх... Не думаю, что китайский или японский самый распространённый. Как будет "Добрый день" по китайски?! =)

На самом деле как это не крути если ты хочешь говорить по русский отлично , то нужно выучить сленг , и как это прискорбно не звучит нужно выучить мат...я не говорю про то что это дико необходимая вещь , но всё же мы довольно часто с ним сталкиваемся , Например возьмем метро , ваша станция и вам нужно выходить , двери открываются вас ни кто не выпускает из тех кто стоит на пероне , а наоборот все вваливаются в вагон , я думаю в такой ситуации вы врятли будите говорить - извините мне нужно выйти))

@AnnieTheLemon fair enough - i'm in a similar situation with mandarin. are there many russian speakers in the uk? would you be able to find native speakers locally?

@cinata Yes, there are quite a few; but I rarely come into contact with them (as most people where I live only speak English), so I don't particularly rely on random meetings to practice my Russian. Yet, I think in a way finding mandarin speakers may be slightly more straight forward; for example, in a Chinese restaurant, Chinese/ Oriental supermarket etc. you would be quite likely to find a native speaker.

Your Russian is really good! You really have to visit Russia and stay there for about a month to get rid of the accent. Then nobody'll be able to distinguish you from a native Russian! ;)

Thanks for sharing! I joined a Russian course when I was at university and that was the textbook for the class, I found it a bit dry though, actually I quitted that course a few weeks into it... I do wanna start learning it again at some stage ;)
