Thank you Tom Woods for educating an idiot like Dennis Miller. Really...Dennis Miller is an incredible idiot...yes.....look at the Paul's....they are real Americans.
Great interview Tom. Miller is actually very intelligent, clearly has some libertarian leanings, and is wasted on O'Reilly. I was impressed with his willingness to listen and hopefully learn something new. If he actually does read Rollback he'll be confronted with some hard truths about the Military Industrial Complex. This is coming from a former conservative who for years bought the empty argument about the "untouchable" military budget. Keep up the good work Dr. Woods. You're an inspiration.
If Woods would have stuck a knife in the "Americas global military adventurism" sacred cow that Miller holds dear, this interview would have gone south in a hurry.
I posted 3 posts in a row. Not certain to which you're referring. I'll assume...
There were several posts along the line of 'entitlements' just going to those who paid in, as if it were a private ins or investment program. So it was meant for specific posters. Sry.
Ron Paul is THE VERY LAST HOPE for this country before it heads over the cliff. Either rally behind him and get him elected, or as Tomas Woods says--vote for the dolt from "central casting" and pay an awful price. You choose. As for me and my house, we'll be choosing the side of Liberty and MUCH less gov't and rallying behind both Pauls...
@propanes It looks like you have to be a member of the Dennis Miller show to download the Rand Paul interview. I got the Tom Woods one up because the Mises Institute put an mp3 on their website.
How is it possible for people who pay a net zero or even negative in taxes to be 'entitled' or 'robbed' by the ending of a program. Damn... you idiots are stupid!
It's all I.O.U.'s...Alice in Wonderland, Fantasy Island..There IS NO MONEY PEOPLE. What do you think GAAP accounts for, double column treasury accounting all banks and courts businesses use this. Money of account is a balancing act that doesn't include hard currency, IT'S ACCOUNTING Money of exchange is done privately. When you exchange your money of exchange (you receive from your labor/work equity) for bank credit, YOU LOSE ALL EQUITY, same with a house, car..etc Wake up already.
@dragonflychainsaw The problem is that no money is actually available to pay back these entitlements. What government has done is make promises they could not possibly keep for the short term benefit of re-election. Individuals are indeed being robbed. However, to allow these "programs" to continue is to only further the robber in the long term. Unfortunately, the US government is essentially broke.
The funny thing is Tom didn't even say anything mind blowing and Miller is impressed. They're going to have to scrape his brains off the ceiling if he ever gets around to familiarizing himself with Paul.
Absolutely agree with Tom Woods--- Nope, Romney, is NOT viable and is truly another 'plastic man who looks like something out of central casting' lol; great comment Mr. Woods!
If Dennis comes around I will love him again, with a twist of caution because he looks like he goes with the wind like Beck but hopefully he is just getting educated
I live in Sweden and our system collapsed in the 90s. We had to extensively reformed our pension system because the money simply wasn't there. Same has happened with sick leave now and is basically happening to all programs. They've tried to solve it by immigration but that doesn't work because of all the stupid laws that make it illegal to get a job in this country (or rather make it so expensive to employ people). We truly are moving away from it, but probably not fast enough.
@Visfen I only wish more from Sweden would speak openly about their problems like you have, including the detrimental impact of universal health care as a main culprit.
I'm a big fan of Tom Woods, and I thought this was a great interview: Miller let Woods do most of the talking, as it should be when you have a guest on your show, and at the end, Miller admits that he doesn't know enough about Ron and Rand Paul, and he's going to make it a point to learn more.
@gavinovz Yeah. You have to understand that when you're a radio host, you HAVE to steer the show, or it will turn into chaos from time to time... so it's best to ALWAYS steer the show. Miller didn't interrupt, and did a good job of just asking questions, and listening to the answer.
I'll give Miller one thing- he's willing to change his mind. It's just too bad that before he hears another opinion, he snidely rails against that which he is ignorant of. Conservatives need to drop the Reagan-worship: bu any measure President Reagan was an immense disappointment! If you call yourself a conservative, you need to support candidates who have a track record and aren't bought and paid for! and we all know who that is...
@RonPaulFriends Dennis has already come a long way, actually. If I remember right, he used to be a hard-line leftist... now he's a hardish-line right winger. NOW we get him to go from the Statist Right to the Libertarian Right. :)
@thedemoboy that would be good, but please don't call it libertarian-"right". the philosophy transcends the Left-Right paradigm illusion that the elites use to manipulate the masses.
@Hylanvahr Actually, I will call it the Libertarian "RIGHT" because there IS a "left and right" in politics (think of it as an "X" axis). However, there is also a Libertarian and Statist (think of it as a "Y" axis). Most libertarians are still right-leaning - although there are a few leftists in the Libertarian camp. If you are straight up on the libertarian train of thought, you border anarchist; but as Madison said, "If men were angels then no gov't would be necessary" and we sure aren't.
I love Dennis Miller. A genuinely brilliant satirist and just as importantly and open minded intellectual.

It's the people who are in the know that need to start refusing.
Refuse to listen to the whine of the know-it-alls who want to live forever like it's 1988.
