I have the same truck but on full size truck axles. Ford 9 in in the rear and dana 44 in the front straight axle on 35 13.50. With a 9 in lift. Its a great setup

Great truck. I have one almost identical to yours. I noticed your gas needle was down. If its messed up I know how to fix it, mine had the same problem.. unfortunately its the fuel pump. You've gotta replace the whole assembly. And while your down there it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the fuel filter as well, just be sure not to break the little plastic clips.

So, I've never understood why people get skyjacker. I have an "85 ranger sittin on BFG Mud terrains, 35x12.5 R15, with ONLY a 4 inch lift from Rough Country. That truck has 9" of lift, and mine sits just as high with only a 4"... ?????

If you ever even engauge 4wd drive your gunna snap your dana 28 and 7.5 like a twig with 35's and if you do your plan of an 8.8 and a dana 35 with a 302 your gunna grenade them too. Be smart and sas it with a 9in and dana 44

Nice Ranger, and a good trade btw!! Ive got an 89 Ranger Custom 4x4. Im running a '96 2.3L, '84 4spd, stock t-case, stock 7.5 and D28 open diffs with 4.10's, 3" body lift and little fender trimming, 35's. even with bald tires it will still go just about anywhere I point it.

Biggest thing I ran into was the cross member to support it all.

Custom driveshafts, little bit of cutting some welding and you're golden.

With 33's you will probably be ok, but with 4.56 gears that is that much torque you are applying to the axle shaft itself. It really comes down to what you use it for. DD/occasional weekend warrior (light use) or hittin rubicon style trails all the time. I plan on using mine in the florida mud, so i need a stronger build. the rear would probably hold for a while, but in the end it would be wiser to just upgrade, get the better axles with better gears and construction and run those.

they aren't junk really, just not rated for 35's plus no aftermarket support on the rear. they make a locker for the dana 28 front, but its tiny(the axle). An explorer (box style) has an 8.8 rear with trak loc, (usually) and dana 35 front. aftermarket support is great for the 8.8 plus its a stronger axle. The dana 35 has a larger ring gear and better shafts. Not to mention the exploder stuff pretty much bolts right in. Thanks for the comment.

i got yeah y dont you just drop the gear ratio down to like 4.56 or 4.88 or something or are u talking about the axle itself not holding cuz on my 89 i wanna put in a 4 inch rough country and i will be able to clear 33 12;50 and i was told that i could go with 4.56 and that would be good at least that's what i have been told..
