If everybody had to raise and kill the animals that they were to eat themselves, the world would be a better place. i have seen worse methods than this, this was a good way, she was professional and did it quick, she killed the chicken in just 30 seconds using all her might , she held the chicken firm, did not let it go inspite of it trying to escape for its life anfd finished off the bird quick. I have seen people use knifves and make the chicken suffer for minutes giving it a painful death chopping its head and making it run, this was a really good kill although a bit merciless

What is the issue with simply cutting off the neck? We do it with goat as well, which is obviously much tougher and you need a good knife. Always believed that chopping off the bird's head is the most efficient way.

I start at 0500 and don't get in bed till 2300 swimming, milking, feeding, moving chick tractors. And livestock, tending gardens, running the sawmill, hualing timber. You just can't got that many hours that hard with out easy to use protein fuel. I am probably the healthiest person I know!

To all the people complaining. Is it cruel for a lion to a crush a deer's windpipe and kill it? Is it cruel for a komodo dragon to leave it's prey to die from infection for days? Is it cruel for an eagle to dig it's talons into a snake? I didn't think so. Morality and humanity is all good. Peace for me is the peace in my heart a find when I follow God's laws and have a close relationship with him. Jesus declared all foods clean! We don't all have to agree, but we also don't have to attack one other when we see something disagreeable to us. I raise my animals humanely and dispatch them humanly, follow a vegan diet, as long as we are both happy and have inner peace who cares?

@loverplease my wife and I do a 30 day meat fasr once a year and even with a properly balanced diet (made by a dietitian) I run dead by about 4pm. I start at 0500 and don't get in bed till 2300 swimming, milking, feeding, moving chick tractors. And livestock, tending gardens, running the sawmill, hualing timber. You just can't got that many hours that hard with out easy to use protein fuel. I am probably the healthiest person I know!

@loverplease A very long time ago though, we have evolved with the need to eat meat. I wouldn't say eating meat is particularly vital though, not anymore at least since we can survive with more ease. Perhaps if we were still running wild we would need meat on occasions (when times are hard). We are omnivores 'now' however, we're no longer herbivores. But we do eat far too much meat, more than what we need. Meat is supposed to be a luxury, not taken for granted and mass produced.

To all the people complaining. Is it cruel for a lion to a crush a deer's windpipe and kill it? Is it cruel for a komodo dragon to leave it's prey to die from infection for days? Is it cruel for an eagle to dig it's talons into a snake? I didn't think so. Morality and humanity is all good. But there is a fine line between killing what you're gonna eat and unnecessary brutality. If this didn't happen I guarantee you that chicken wasn't going to have a peaceful death at a ripe old age anyway.

I base my standards of what happens in nature. The brutal killing has long been part of norm. "Humane" killing as we know it is an emerging trend that only been around for a few hundred years at max. You can't expect everyone to spend the time blindfolding the chicken & using the most painless method of slaughter. Kudos to the people who do. But do you really think predators in the wild go oh... It is our moral duty as modern human beings to use the most painless and quick method of dispatch and animals in the wild of course do not have access to such methods or indeed understand suffering so rather ignorant of you to use such an analogy. If you want to apply methods of killing from over a hundred years ago - how about medical/dental treatment of humans in that time? - bet you would want the most painless,humane up to date treatment available in an operation to save your suffering eh?

I wouldn't say it's a responsibility. But we certainly do have the privilege of making informed decisions like that. Hey the world would be perfect if everyone did. But see the world isn't perfect. And I believe that modern medicines are making an unnatural number of individuals survive. Frankly it's fucking the planet. Now here's a responsibility. Have less kids. If you want to have the luxury of using medicine shouldn't you give something back to keep numbers within the limits?

I agree about controlling numbers of kids but you missed the point entirely and that was about suffering - 100 years ago a dentist drill was pedal powered and very painful but now dentistry is virtually painless, same applies to operations. Even the electric chair or lethal injection is much more humane than the way animals are treated by some. what I`m saying is that unless you would want to suffer like that yourself, you should not put any living creature through suffering when it is avoidable

I understand what you're saying. But you're missing my point mate. I have personally never killed anything or hurt any creature necessarily just for the record. All I'm saying is no species in the world would ever uses it's physical adaptation to help something they were trying to eat. I don't see whats so wrong about us not doing it either. Granted it's not nice and if you had any sort of a conscious you wouldn't do it. But humane killing is far from a responsibility.

I do understand what you are saying, but the point is that we are (supposedly) far removed from animals as a species on a higher level and we DO have an understanding of what is cruelty and what is not and (which animals do not) so where we can kill with minimal suffering, we should do so as we understand pain and suffering. Animals kill with the only tools they have but actually are pretty effective at quick kills generally. We have no excuses whatsoever to let animals suffer unduly nowadays
