Magnificent football - especially Dave Clement's goal. Sadly no footage exists (to the best of my knowledge) of the 6-1 win on Jan 31 1978 FA Cup 4th rd replay. 1976-7 was a come down after the heights of 1975-6 but it was still a wonderful team playing fantastic football with a great run in both the UEFA and League Cups that season. This 2-0 win at Upton Park was very sweet after Frank Lampard's appalling tackle on Dave Thomas in the 1st minute that resulted in Thomas being stretchered off.
@fiveminutestotroll I read about that match in Stan Bowles's book, him and Don Shanks had a massive bet on it, so from playing rubbish all season, they suddenly go and beat West Ham 6-1 and the boys are quids in, lol.
As a City fan, always wished Collyhurst lad Stan had stayed, I never saw him play for us but he was brilliant at QPR.
Dave Sexton was superstitious. He didn't fancy the team's chances in the hoops at Upton Park, so they changed to white.
We had a great run in the League Cup that season, which all came crashing down in the semi-final replay at Highbury against Villa, made worse by Arsenal fans who had got in to cause trouble. If they'd played away goals back then, we'd have got to the final.
