Good day! question pleas!...im from asia in the philippines and wants to grow shiitake mushroom, what is the ideal temperature to grow shiitake?......thanks.
I do not know the best temperature. My guess is not too hot and not too cold and not too dry. You may be on the too warm side, but you should look around on the web for someone who knows. We are in the 70's and 80's F in the summer when we harvest mushrooms. We are too cold in the winter for them.
does it matter if the log is from a dead tree or live tree and can i use a citrus tree log?

@willy987s Has to be from a live tree ... best within a few weeks of cutting it. Should also be a hardwood. Guessing citrus is not good.

I'm glad I found your video. I innoculated logs May '09 and only had 1 log grow about 10 Shiitakes in May '10. So I'll have to be patient.
