@spookyomansions1 The reason Rollins is interviewed alll the time is because he give his opinion so straight forward. he can asnwered questions better than most, especially most rockers. he's just concentrating.
I am not particularly fond of Black Flag, and I dont particularly like Henry Rollins' stance on a lot of things, or his way of expressing certain things, but I do admire the way he almost allows himself, being seemingly somewhat more open and comfortable with the press, to be a spokesperson for the other musicians in his scene who might be less comfortable with the media. Kinda like Chris Cornell was with the grunge guys. I dont love Rollins but I do have a lot of respect for him.
"...when Henry's life feels his life is getting out of control, he works out and watches his diet." Good advice for those who are addicted to drugs. You have a choice to make good choices. It's NOT a disease. Cancer is a disease.
There's something very Ultimate Warrior-ish about Rollins. I refer to the nonsensical public speaking part of Warrior's career, not the sweaty-squeeze-games part.
The withdrawl of funds by his record company at a time when he lived just down the road from a streetful of prostitutes and lazy hotels could not possibly have been related to his temporally close and subsequent death then could it? Brutal hardly begins to describe that withdrawl and refusal to capitulate on it.
kurt cobain did not kill himself,he got murdered, and the one who kill him did make it pass like it was a suicide, check the mentor signer interview for more info about thise
@satan666691 Shut. The. Fuck. Up. you uneducated hipster jumping on shameful hipster bandwagons. ''omgz cobain wuz murdered!"!!!!1111111'' NO HE WAS A DEPRESSED DRUG ADDICT UNDER A HELL OF A LOT OF PRESSURE FROM IDIOT NASTY FANS LIKE YOURSELF AND HIS FAMILY HAD A HISTORY OF DEPRESSION AND SUICIDES, HE KILLED HIMSELF, GET OVER IT.
I never understood why people bother trying to understand why others kill themselves. If you have to ask yourself, you don't get it, and probably (hopefully) never will. It's a completely different state of mind. Suicidal people are just "wired" incorrectly, so to speak. It's unfortunate and flat-out fucked up, but it's how it is. There's a reason why some of the greatest artistic minds are/were completely self-destructive. They see things in a way most people don't, and they don't want to.
I think Kurt and Henry are similar type of person in quite a few ways.
Both have a fierce sense of justice and tightly held morals, hate sports and machismo, prefer art & music over pretty much all else. Both are also intense personalities is most ways as well. They just obviously handled things quite differently (though they were handed different things). That said, I think you can really tell that Henry is intuitive enough to be able to relate to Kurt and definitely feel sympathy for theguy
The thing that no one knows until they actually get there, is that life is very different at 27, than it is at 50. Problems seem bigger, hurts seem to hurt more and your relationship with the world is just so much different when young. If asked if I'd like to be the young tearaway I once was, my answer would be "No way!" I might not survive a 2nd attempt at it, and sadly Kurt didn't make it through the first.
Rollins really nailed it. Obviously Kurt's brain just wasn't wired the same way as the average person (which is why he was so creatively genius). He probably felt things in a deeper way than most of us could imagine. Combine that, with the things Rollins mentioned, and he lived a pretty heavy life. People might say he had everything and lived the dream, but everyone knows those material things don't make you happy long term. It's only a testament to his strength that he lasted as long as he did.
I like Henry, I listen to alot of the things he says. if I didn't know any better I'd say his demeanor is very in your face, brash... almost macho but, he can speak on behalf of the more introverted quiet kind of people and not sound pretentious or insincere. I think everybody could use a friend like Henry.
@motocarnage615 Well said Sir. I want you to know I never send people messages like that but I always had the same ideas about Henry Rollins but couldn't articulate myself as elegantly as you managed to. Right on.

Courtney tried to get Kurt to meet Henry Rollins when they were both backstage at a gig together, but Kurt refused. He said it was because he was high, and Henry is Mr. Straight Edge, and so Kurt was afraid of him.
@blastofo - Kurt was really layed back and Henry tends to be pretty wound up but they probably would've gotten along great if they ever got to meet. It's too bad really.
It's not a judgement, it's a statement of fact. Kurt did Heroin, he did it multiple times, Kurts wife (Courtney) did heroin, they were enmeshed in a junky lifestyle.
When Nirvana left Subpop and signed a massive commerical record deal, they basically became the very opposite of what they wanted to achieve. Fact.
Sure Kurt made some amazing music, the cover of Bowie's "Man Who Sold The World" on Unplugged is one of my all time favourite songs.
@Parag0n "When Nirvana left Subpop and signed a massive commerical record deal, they basically became the very opposite of what they wanted to achieve."
So they signed to a massive commercial label... to achieve becoming massively commercial... and... they failed? They... wat.
@runnersdialzero333 They were making millions under the guise of "Alternative Rock"
The image of the 80's, Motley Crue cruising around on Harleys going to strip clubs and massive excess is what they termed "Rock and Roll Elite" or Established Rock and Roll.
The excess that they grew to hate ended up consuming Nirvana, they signed to a mainstream label and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" suddenly threw them into the spotlight, that song was mainstream and put Nirvana on the cover of Rolling Stone.
@Parag0n they made millions being themselves. that's all there is to it. why should it be of any of our concern if a band signs to a major label and then, god forbid, wants to make money and not starve for the rest of their lives?
@runnersdialzero333 Sorry but really the only person who could answer the reasons is Kurt himself and when fame came to him like a freight train he was clinging on for his life, which in the end he took.
@Parag0n Just as Kurt is the only one who can answer those reasons, Kurt is also the only one who could actually blame fame for his downfall and death. Just sayin'.
@TrollHunterKing I agree with you although Kurt on several occasions said that his stomach pain basically forced him to become a "Junky".
He felt like he was dying, and in an interview you can find here on YouTube he tells the reporter that he may as well do some Heroin if he was going to die, he had manic depression.
If only Kurt had sought help but it's impossible when you're in an enmeshed relationship with another Junky (Cuntrey Love) who is slamming dope while pregnant.
@kingnat2 Im not straight edge and I still call Kurt Cobain a heroin junky. Because he was. You dont respect junkies you simply tolerate them, you respect them if they manage to have enough balls to turn their lives around, not turn a shotgun around.
@Parag0n i knew it from the first moment i saw all these aggressive, fast cars in your channel i just knew it that you were a surprise enthusiast who is into safekeeping presents with anal use,
@skropomakos9 Dude chill out, he called Kurt a junkie... big fucking whoop you can't always equate junkie with the general consensus of what a junkie supposedly is. He could have called Kurt much worse, taking his two year old daughter into account... asshole seems like a legit word.
@OnlineMusicSwap look man i told that ausie fuck that i know kurt was a junkie, but even when a bad person is dead is bad to talk trash about him or her but i can understand it if that person harmed people when he or she was alive,in this case kurt wasn't one ok, and the circumstances of his death are shady. so there is no need to say he was a junkie ,we know, everyone does, it's like what's the point?
@Parag0n Yeah, he had a drug problem, so? Does this somehow make him less of an artist or really say anything damning about his character? If you lose respect for any artist simply because they didn't live a perfect, clean, moral life, there wouldn't be anyone left. Burroughs was a junky, as was Hendrix, Kerouac was an alcoholic, as was Hank Williams, Van Gogh was all kinds of fucked up, Carravaggio killed some dude.
@yerk3 Continued: Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Lenny Bruce, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, all had issues with heroin. Subtract from the pantheon of great artists and musicians the crazy, the drug-addled, the hedonists and the crackpots, and you have very little to work with.
@yerk3 Did his heroin addiction make him a bad person? No. I never said he was a bad person, I called him a junky. I've got narrow minded people saying "Fuck You!" because I pointed it out.
It was not a judgement on Kurt in anyway, it was simply a statement of fact.
However, Kurt and Courtney shooting heroin while she was pregnant, that's not only irresponsible but really fucking stupid
Killing yourself and leaving a child to grow up without a father is a selfish act, but it was his decision.
@Parag0n You're the narrow minded one. You somehow think that someone having a drug problem is in any way relevant. If you didn't, then why would you be bringing it up here? You have no place to judge people who commit suicide until you have actually been there. Otherwise, you're just a self-righteous prick trying to hold yourself above people who are in situations you don't know the first thing about.
@yerk3 Thanks for the paragraphs of tears, I bet you're seething. If you don't like it don't read it, I can't fucking help that my statement got a shitload of thumbs up, but I guess that speaks for itself.
Now I have a queue of shit smeared cunts that are still in mourning leaving comments that make me laugh.
@Parag0n What the fuck are you talking about? Tears? I'm not crying, I'm not even breaking a sweat. I wonder if this inane speculation about my emotional state is a coping mechanism you've developed to take the edge off of constantly being made a fool of on the internet. If your comment got a "shitload of thumbs up," it would be up in the top comments, next to the one instructing you on how to insert something into your rectum.
@Parag0n If it is not a judgment, then why are you posting it here? You haven't explained how it is in any way relevant. What are you trying to prove anyway, other than that you're a useless drain on society? Blocked? LOL! You're really that stupid? You can't block a comment section, and if you think I ever had any intention of following you to your channel, you're delusional.
@sooper2dooper3 yea that was half of it. definitely. but not all addicts commit suicide. he was depressed even before drugs. plus being famous bothered the holy hell out of him. the drugs heightened his depression. but yea if he never did drugs, he'd still probably be here.
@sooper2dooper3 Your a fucking idiot, you really think that there wasn't a reason he took drugs? It was probably the same reason that he killed himself.
"The money, the Attention, The Hype, The Hysteria, all of that, perhaps something in your own life, might rise to that occasion, and that might get out of your control."
I thin anyone that knows about Kurts earlier life can see Rollins is talking some real sense here.
I didn't pay Henry much attention because I thought he had kinda gotten a bit too fluffy and given up some of his human rawness by doing MTV and branching off in to a "career" as a character on TV, but what he just said there is a really relevant piece of testimony for anyone who is intelligent AND intuitive enough to ache inside from empathy and the knowledge of what the world is really like. I've done some writing for indy media and the research always turns up things I wish I didn't know.
He even touches on Cobain here - he descries himself - he's an egoist - a magnificent egoist - but NONE the less - should not be eulogizing Kurt Cobain. Was nearer to getting outside himself last time he kneed himself in the nose and bled brain matter through his nose.
but see your missing the point. It wasn't about being famous it was about HIM being famous and that what he was into was now considered normal and that's why he killed himself, not cause of being famous in general but cause he felt someone like him that's 'different' shouldn't be accepted in a mass way by people who actually understand what he's about.
@Ekimusman2-LMFAO! If Rollins ever did himself in, he would most likely do the deed via his own weight bench, in the style of whoever the hell that batshit crazy wrestler suicide was.
fuckin cobain took himself out cuz he didnt wanna deal with the hype , he didnt wanna become what he fuckin hated, and he knew it was inevitable so he took his life
@whitedwarf13 It's probably true man, Cobain would beat himself up about being really skinny when he could have just picked up some weights and started lifting a bit. I think the P.C. people fucked his brain up like that Kathleen Hanna bitch so he hated himself for being a white man (he said so)
@dubified89 Cobain was suffering from depression and he was also a heroin use which is even worse when you already have a mental illness. So it's not like everyone was out to get him, the press and the media tend to behave like bullies anyway but not all famous people who serve as their target have committed suicide.
@GeeWizzers1 you are so stupid, I hate these fucking conspiracy theories, they are all bullshit. He was a drug addict and was depressed. He already tried to commit suicide in March 94. Just face it, the man didn't want to live anymore!
@coltsuperocean10 I don't know why you worshippers of Cobain ignore the evidence that he was murdered, you'd think you'd want to catch the killer of your hero. I guess if he didn't off himself, then he's not the god of emo anymore, or something?

@skropomakos9 Dude chill out, he called Kurt a junkie... big fucking whoop you can't always equate junkie with the general consensus of what a junkie supposedly is. He could have called Kurt much worse, taking his two year old daughter into account... asshole seems like a legit word.
OnlineMusicSwap 2 weeks ago
@OnlineMusicSwap look man i told that ausie fuck that i know kurt was a junkie, but even when a bad person is dead is bad to talk trash about him or her but i can understand it if that person harmed people when he or she was alive,in this case kurt wasn't one ok, and the circumstances of his death are shady. so there is no need to say he was a junkie ,we know, everyone does, it's like what's the point?

Parag0n 1 month ago
@Parag0n Who'se crying? I don't see anybody crying.
yerk3 1 month ago
@Parag0n Yeah, he had a drug problem, so? Does this somehow make him less of an artist or really say anything damning about his character? If you lose respect for any artist simply because they didn't live a perfect, clean, moral life, there wouldn't be anyone left. Burroughs was a junky, as was Hendrix, Kerouac was an alcoholic, as was Hank Williams, Van Gogh was all kinds of fucked up, Carravaggio killed some dude.
yerk3 1 month ago
@yerk3 Continued: Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Lenny Bruce, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, all had issues with heroin. Subtract from the pantheon of great artists and musicians the crazy, the drug-addled, the hedonists and the crackpots, and you have very little to work with.
yerk3 1 month ago
@yerk3 Did his heroin addiction make him a bad person? No. I never said he was a bad person, I called him a junky. I've got narrow minded people saying "Fuck You!" because I pointed it out.
It was not a judgement on Kurt in anyway, it was simply a statement of fact.
However, Kurt and Courtney shooting heroin while she was pregnant, that's not only irresponsible but really fucking stupid
Killing yourself and leaving a child to grow up without a father is a selfish act, but it was his decision.
Parag0n 1 month ago
@Parag0n You're the narrow minded one. You somehow think that someone having a drug problem is in any way relevant. If you didn't, then why would you be bringing it up here? You have no place to judge people who commit suicide until you have actually been there. Otherwise, you're just a self-righteous prick trying to hold yourself above people who are in situations you don't know the first thing about.
yerk3 1 month ago
@yerk3 Thanks for the paragraphs of tears, I bet you're seething. If you don't like it don't read it, I can't fucking help that my statement got a shitload of thumbs up, but I guess that speaks for itself.
Now I have a queue of shit smeared cunts that are still in mourning leaving comments that make me laugh.
Parag0n 1 month ago
@Parag0n What the fuck are you talking about? Tears? I'm not crying, I'm not even breaking a sweat. I wonder if this inane speculation about my emotional state is a coping mechanism you've developed to take the edge off of constantly being made a fool of on the internet. If your comment got a "shitload of thumbs up," it would be up in the top comments, next to the one instructing you on how to insert something into your rectum.
yerk3 1 month ago
@yerk3 It is in no way a judgement.
It is a statement of fact.
To have to explain the difference to you, proves that you're a fucking halfwit cunt. Blocked.
Parag0n 1 month ago
@Parag0n If it is not a judgment, then why are you posting it here? You haven't explained how it is in any way relevant. What are you trying to prove anyway, other than that you're a useless drain on society? Blocked? LOL! You're really that stupid? You can't block a comment section, and if you think I ever had any intention of following you to your channel, you're delusional.

what a load of crap...it was the drugs that did it.
sooper2dooper3 3 months ago
@sooper2dooper3 yea that was half of it. definitely. but not all addicts commit suicide. he was depressed even before drugs. plus being famous bothered the holy hell out of him. the drugs heightened his depression. but yea if he never did drugs, he'd still probably be here.
scentless2apprentice 3 months ago
@scentless2apprentice Yes, that's true actually. Behind most drug addiction story there's the reason FOR taking the drugs in the first place.

I thin anyone that knows about Kurts earlier life can see Rollins is talking some real sense here.
moonsugar1 3 months ago 19

If Kurt Cobain had worked out and watched his diet more, he'd probably still be here.
whitedwarf13 6 months ago 12
@whitedwarf13 It's probably true man, Cobain would beat himself up about being really skinny when he could have just picked up some weights and started lifting a bit. I think the P.C. people fucked his brain up like that Kathleen Hanna bitch so he hated himself for being a white man (he said so)
dubified89 5 months ago
@dubified89
Man, the way say it makes you seem like an idiot. To me.
Letterbombkid 5 months ago
@dubified89 Cobain was suffering from depression and he was also a heroin use which is even worse when you already have a mental illness. So it's not like everyone was out to get him, the press and the media tend to behave like bullies anyway but not all famous people who serve as their target have committed suicide.
CheekyLad9 4 months ago 4
That guy didn't commit suicide, he was murdered.

"Dickhead", heh heh, what are you, five?
