I love INFP's, they're very bubbly but subtle with it... I'm an INTP, so yes I see humor in pretty much anything and for some reason when I see INFP's I sort of get the implication that they giggle a lot much in the same way I chuckle at almost anything. Also the idealist thing is cool because INTP are known as the thinker and I get the feeling that INFP daydream a lot just as I think a lot

I definately day dream a lot and imagine up crazy ideas, my view on it though is that its merely thoughts which aren't as bound by logic as the INTPs are. It's imagined first with nothing to get in its way and is only subject to "logical analysis" (through crude Te) a lot later on. Tbh I would prefer being INTP

Reality is just a distraction as far as I'm concerned. I pay no attention to it until it slaps me hard enough to start getting on my nerves. Then I reluctantly take care of the real-world nonsense so I can escape back inside myself, where I clearly belong. INFP here btw. Very good video. :)
@Damienf77 Lol, I sometimes feel that way too:) Earlier today I was actually thinking about how ideas are amazing and I can spend hours just reading, watching social commentaries, and thinking about random ideas but I should always remember that ideas are important because of reality... because they reflect it, have the power to change it, and affect us all whether we notice or not! Perhaps those of us who love ideas have a special purpose to bring to light that which so many overlook=o)

I just find it frustrating sometimes that, though we do have perhaps an uncommon ability to change things for the better... it is often like trying to turn lead into gold. It seems like it should be possible, but the distance from dreams to reality are often so far apart that I usually end up wishing for things to change rather than helping them along. I do love nothing more than seeing people inspired though. :)

Thank you. I have been having trouble with women understanding me all my life. Its a kind of weird relief to realize its a problem for other male INFPs. I give up on women (so much easier to say at 52 than it was when I was driven mad with desire as a younger man). I enjoy acting as a counselor to women often. While some women appreciate my sensitivity, most if not all see it as weakness.

i don't think i'm that much of a dreamer but my friend says i appear dreamy most of the time. and i'm EXTREMELY disorganized. and i AGREE with the deadline thing. When yo udo it the last minute it feels like you've done your best although it still doesn't seem perfect. Being a male INFP is very very difficult. People assume that we are soft . And, we are in a sense because we take almost everything to heart and are hyper sensitive when people don't see things from our perspective.
im not sure if im INFP or INFJ i feel more like an infp but i'm usually pretty organized when it comes to school stuff like i use a planner and my binders are organized and sometimes i would do projects earlier because i hate the feeling when you procrastinate and have to do it all at one time XD so im not sure if it's more based on feeling or what...what do you think??
I think personality tests are very interesting. I was required to take one when I was a junior in high school and scored as an INFP, and my enneagram is a type 4. Taking a reliable personality test can really help people understand who they are and the way others are. I am happy to be an INFP. I always find that I am getting into my own fantasy world thinking of things like the possibilities of how the universe came about, or thinking about things artistically. Emotion is a powerful force to me.
I scored as an INFJ awhile back, which seemed to fit me okay, but I took a different online test just now, and I scored INFP. Now that I've read some of the characteristics of an INFP, and I've come to this video, I think I've found my correct Myers-Briggs type. I'm definitely a daydreamer, always running up against deadlines, sensitive and socially awkward, but I'm a pretty good writer, generous to a fault, and I can usually perceive and understand both (or all) sides of a given issue.

I am an INFP and many people tell me that I am very Wise and have a lot of Insight and Perception that most people lack but I am not Intelligent by "traditional" means whatsoever and I am horrible at Algebraic equations... but it doesn't really matter to me. I lack social abilities Horribly and relationships are an abyssmal endeavor for me and always fail within a month because I am so distant and laid back. I would also much rather read a book than go to a social gathering.

@HarmonyinJesus Have you ever had this entire train of thought go on in your head and all of a sudden you blurt out your conclusion to the person next to you with no explanation as to how your brain got to that point. Then the person turns to you and pretty much gives you the "WUT?!" face. Then you have to work backwards and explain. I think that might be an INFP thing. I do it a lot to my best friend. She thinks I'm odd. ^_^

Or I'll say something that really is logical and makes sense... if the other person had been in my brain to see how I arrived at the conclusion... only to have them look at me like I'm nuts and then have to explain the whole thing. What took only about 20-30 seconds to think takes about 5 minutes to explain. :P Sometimes it's just not worth the effort and I just let them go on thinking that I'm a little loopy.
@romanticspirit I used to post a lot in an INFP group on facebook and there was a lot of discussion about it in that group. There were certainly at least two or three members who mentioned they had some form of either ADD or ADHD, but I don't know whether "mild ADD" is just a description of some aspects of our personality, or whether we are more prone to ADD than other types...
@romanticspirit I wonder how many INFP girls are so unbelievable cute, cause many of the videos I've seen of them make them make me want to hug them. Granted I'm an ENFP and that's to be expected from us, but the sort of quiet-yet-silly way many INFP girls talk seems to banish all my negative feelings.

I felt a lot of my own thought proces being "spelled out" here; in your words. There's no other way to say it. I got
tested by Jungian psychologists when I was 15 (a process which sucked the time) and I came out as INFP (the tester seemed more than a little surprised... why?). Every other (online) test has since been the same. In the present situation, I feel tests hold less meaning than we think.. Trust your own intuition (if it's truly good); that's the most important thing I can say.
I took the test when I was 16 or 17 for some school program. Everybody else had these certain personality types and I felt weird that I was the only one with Healer or INFP. It was pretty funny because my teacher goes "Wow so aren't there any Healers?" before I had to go and share mine. When I read it was of the more rarer bunch I knew that explained a lot but I still doubted. I ended up taking the test again online some time later and I scored as INFP again.

I find that I am either super OCD about stuff or incredibly relaxed and slack! Motivation is a big struggle sometimes and I can be a bit of a camealeon depending on the situation.
Im contradictive cos I think i come across as confident but am actually a bit nervy in social situations.

Oh I agree with you! I do the same types of things. For years I was always known as the outgoing one. Just a loud, talkative girl. But now I've winded down ; I couldn't keep up and it's so weird to be in a social situation now that I don't constantly put on a happy face for people, pretending and acting like I'm somebody else.
It's so hard to be motivated about something. When it doesn't move me, I don't want to do it or see it or hear it
INTP here. I find the Myers Briggs personality test as an interesting concept. I'm always researching about my personality type to learn more about myself. It's cool that I got the same personality type as Brian Griffin. lol
She took the words right out of my mouth - I've taken the Meyers-Briggs sooo many times & I've always been an INFP. She describes me to a T - which is nice to know there are other people out there who are INFP. Most people don't think I am b/c I work in an environment which requires me to be very vocal and outgoing...but honestly it drains me sometimes. I have had a book for a few years called "Please Understand Me" which goes into great detail about the Meyers-Briggs types....it's a great book

Hey I'm an INFP and I'm taking Psychology in University. I've kind of been running around getting all my friends to take the myers briggs personality test secretly trying to find another INFP. But unfortunately INFPs make up only about 1-3 percent of the population. But here you are, an INFP, just like me. I guess I just want to say I liked your video.
I read that INFPs are specially gifted at personality development.
I think that as two advanced development exercises (the beginner one being to develop your auxiliary function, in your case Ne), one should develop ones tertiary function (Si with you) and the opposite of the weak function, so as your weak function is Te, develop the Ti.
I met a 28-year-old INFP sometime ago who was very well developed, with both Si and Ti being relatively strong; it was beautiful to observe.
Sorry for delay. She is pretty intellectual, studied philosophy and studying physics. Has a pleasant idea of how to enjoy life (my current thinking is that prob her Se, rather than Si, is comparatively well-developed). Has travelled a lot. Would like to save the world a person at a time (I totally bow to this) or maybe in other words to noticeably reduce human suffering. I did sense a certain tragic element present in her life tho ...

im an INTJ, i dated an INFP and it was horrible - she was what i like to call 'retarded'... i was disturbed by her in general, none of her thoughts were logical, she lived in a world that didnt exist and was just well... a stupid person in my eyes... to this day i cannot stand her. altho i cant say she is like every INFP in the world... some people are just mmmm different. being an intj i know what its like to live in my own world, she was just weird.. never again!
the personality test shows what methods you use to think and how you see the world it does not make everybody the same. Any one can be strange or creepy no matter what personality type.
Overainbows made an interesting point. We all seem to be soft-spoken, change topics readily (can't be helped the way our minds work!), and look very young for our age. I get that all the time, but never associated it with our personality type. Hmmm... Interesting. I know 5 INFPs... and we all seem to be this way. We have other things in common, too, like playing Chess. Is that a personality thing? Any other INFPs out there that love the game of Chess??

wow. ur completely right about the whole last minute project thing. im 17 and last year i had 3 big projects in 10th grade. 1 science and 2 AP euro. i did the science report the day before it was due. it took me 4 hours but i got a 96 on it. the euro book reports i did the same thing except i didnt even read the book. took me 6 hours but i got a 98 on it...go infp haha.
I've been consistently scoring as an INFJ on the MBTI test, but conceptually (i.e. descriptions and comparisons between perceiving and judging types) I fit better the INFP description.
Disorganized perfectionist. That is a perfect way to describe me! Though, compared to other floormates at my college, I'm viewed as having one of the neatest rooms on my floor! Maybe it's because I don't have much stuff.

yeah i'm an infp too and love being an infp and meeting and learning about other's like myself even more. anyway google infp global chatter its an online forum for infp's and its one of the greatest websites i've ever discovered! oh and i'm an disorganized perfectionists as well! i have never worked on a paper in advance because i care about it the most during crunch time and thats when i do my best work.
About grounding. I find grounding through awareness best because it shows the nature of the problem and how things really work. That's valuable as an INFP's in 2 ways, first, in depth knowledge on how things work allows us to be more understanding and considerate. Second, it develops our intuitive sense of reality. I think that can be our gift because Idealists can often suffer the most, finding this helps us to find happiness and courage to share with others in the way we always felt we should.
I'm an INFP as well. I liked this video, i think it shows a lot for your character and you seem very balanced. It seems like you are learning that the key to success for an INFP is awareness; if I have interpreted correctly.

Disorganized perfectionist? totally. my procrastination kills me. i usually can't focus unless the deadline's looming so close. i dream way too much. sometimes i have trouble paying attention to my surroundings. i also find that i'm not a very verbal person. i mean, i can express myself much much better on paper than by speaking. for some reason, i'm pretty bad at organizing my thoughts. i need to work on that. always think before speaking! okayy. i ramble too much too. heh.
That's what I do. I've certainly noticed my scatter-brained-ness, and I don't quite like it. Writing things down on paper allows us to read our own mistakes and correct them before we end up looking like fools by saying something particularly inappropriate.

The ADD theory is quite interesting. I watched another YouTube vid and he said he had ADD. I have recently wondered if I have it. It seems at least two people on this video may have it. Curious.

I think personality tests are very interesting. I was required to take one when I was a junior in high school and scored as an INFP, and my enneagram is a type 4. Taking a reliable personality test can really help people understand who they are and the way others are. I am happy to be an INFP. I always find that I am getting into my own fantasy world thinking of things like the possibilities of how the universe came about, or thinking about things artistically. Emotion is a powerful force to me.

I scored as an INFJ awhile back, which seemed to fit me okay, but I took a different online test just now, and I scored INFP. Now that I've read some of the characteristics of an INFP, and I've come to this video, I think I've found my correct Myers-Briggs type. I'm definitely a daydreamer, always running up against deadlines, sensitive and socially awkward, but I'm a pretty good writer, generous to a fault, and I can usually perceive and understand both (or all) sides of a given issue.

I am an INFP and many people tell me that I am very Wise and have a lot of Insight and Perception that most people lack but I am not Intelligent by "traditional" means whatsoever and I am horrible at Algebraic equations... but it doesn't really matter to me. I lack social abilities Horribly and relationships are an abyssmal endeavor for me and always fail within a month because I am so distant and laid back. I would also much rather read a book than go to a social gathering.

@HarmonyinJesus Have you ever had this entire train of thought go on in your head and all of a sudden you blurt out your conclusion to the person next to you with no explanation as to how your brain got to that point. Then the person turns to you and pretty much gives you the "WUT?!" face. Then you have to work backwards and explain. I think that might be an INFP thing. I do it a lot to my best friend. She thinks I'm odd. ^_^

Or I'll say something that really is logical and makes sense... if the other person had been in my brain to see how I arrived at the conclusion... only to have them look at me like I'm nuts and then have to explain the whole thing. What took only about 20-30 seconds to think takes about 5 minutes to explain. :P Sometimes it's just not worth the effort and I just let them go on thinking that I'm a little loopy.

@romanticspirit I used to post a lot in an INFP group on facebook and there was a lot of discussion about it in that group. There were certainly at least two or three members who mentioned they had some form of either ADD or ADHD, but I don't know whether "mild ADD" is just a description of some aspects of our personality, or whether we are more prone to ADD than other types...

I felt a lot of my own thought proces being "spelled out" here; in your words. There's no other way to say it. I got
tested by Jungian psychologists when I was 15 (a process which sucked the time) and I came out as INFP (the tester seemed more than a little surprised... why?). Every other (online) test has since been the same. In the present situation, I feel tests hold less meaning than we think.. Trust your own intuition (if it's truly good); that's the most important thing I can say.

I took the test when I was 16 or 17 for some school program. Everybody else had these certain personality types and I felt weird that I was the only one with Healer or INFP. It was pretty funny because my teacher goes "Wow so aren't there any Healers?" before I had to go and share mine. When I read it was of the more rarer bunch I knew that explained a lot but I still doubted. I ended up taking the test again online some time later and I scored as INFP again.

I find that I am either super OCD about stuff or incredibly relaxed and slack! Motivation is a big struggle sometimes and I can be a bit of a camealeon depending on the situation.
Im contradictive cos I think i come across as confident but am actually a bit nervy in social situations.
Im crap at making decisions and yes I do care a lot for other people and want to look after them. Too much!!

Oh I agree with you! I do the same types of things. For years I was always known as the outgoing one. Just a loud, talkative girl. But now I've winded down ; I couldn't keep up and it's so weird to be in a social situation now that I don't constantly put on a happy face for people, pretending and acting like I'm somebody else.

She describes me to a T - which is nice to know there are other people out there who are INFP. Most people don't think I am b/c I work in an environment which requires me to be very vocal and outgoing...but honestly it drains me sometimes. I have had a book for a few years called "Please Understand Me" which goes into great detail about the Meyers-Briggs types....it's a great book

I read that INFPs are specially gifted at personality development.
I think that as two advanced development exercises (the beginner one being to develop your auxiliary function, in your case Ne), one should develop ones tertiary function (Si with you) and the opposite of the weak function, so as your weak function is Te, develop the Ti.
I met a 28-year-old INFP sometime ago who was very well developed, with both Si and Ti being relatively strong; it was beautiful to observe.

Has a pleasant idea of how to enjoy life (my current thinking is that prob her Se, rather than Si, is comparatively well-developed). Has travelled a lot. Would like to save the world a person at a time (I totally bow to this) or maybe in other words to noticeably reduce human suffering. I did sense a certain tragic element present in her life tho ...

wow. ur completely right about the whole last minute project thing. im 17 and last year i had 3 big projects in 10th grade. 1 science and 2 AP euro. i did the science report the day before it was due. it took me 4 hours but i got a 96 on it. the euro book reports i did the same thing except i didnt even read the book. took me 6 hours but i got a 98 on it...go infp haha.

I've been consistently scoring as an INFJ on the MBTI test, but conceptually (i.e. descriptions and comparisons between perceiving and judging types) I fit better the INFP description.
Disorganized perfectionist. That is a perfect way to describe me! Though, compared to other floormates at my college, I'm viewed as having one of the neatest rooms on my floor! Maybe it's because I don't have much stuff.

About grounding. I find grounding through awareness best because it shows the nature of the problem and how things really work. That's valuable as an INFP's in 2 ways, first, in depth knowledge on how things work allows us to be more understanding and considerate. Second, it develops our intuitive sense of reality. I think that can be our gift because Idealists can often suffer the most, finding this helps us to find happiness and courage to share with others in the way we always felt we should.

That's what I do. I've certainly noticed my scatter-brained-ness, and I don't quite like it. Writing things down on paper allows us to read our own mistakes and correct them before we end up looking like fools by saying something particularly inappropriate.
