well to kirant its a tradition that hawks fans had off out screaming the organ. In 1992 i think it was the war with terrorism they were cheering for there troops throughout the anthem. But if you think thats disrespectful Calgary booed threw out the national anthem for us so that's disrespect.
You're right about the Gulf War that started the tradition for Hawks fans. I must stand up for Calgary fans, though, In my 17 years of going to Flames games, I honestly cannot remember any number of Flames fans booing the Star Spangled Banner. Usually, they are very respectful.
Even as a Hawks fan, i definately respect the love that the fans in Calgary show their team. Can't beat being passionate about your team. Great series so far! You guys definately lift this team at home, as do we. Gotta love playoff hockey!
Quick question then: Did the 'hawks fans really not know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, or is it just a tradition to make unspecified noise during the anthem?

Even on the TV, the United Center sounds loud! It's been a great series between great teams with great fans! I just hope it doesn't end tonight. ;-)

That would be me. Hearing myself, I realize I'm awful! But I'm a proud Canadian and a proud Flames fan!
Thanks for the compliment!
