  • im youre family xxx love u still in all these years,x

  • you can see the drummers playing but you cant hear them. Did totp film a silent video then add the music in?

  • @jaggass TOTP always used to have their performers lip-synch.

  • I know it was common to mime on the 80's Top Of The Pops, but I have heard Adam sing live a few months back, and he can actually sing live. Not like some artists now who sound great on an album but cannot sing in real life.

  • i have yet to hear another band that has such a brilliant tribal drumming sound, the band has always been awsome.

  • Adam and the Ants were my first true love.....I still lovingly have each and every album, and still remember all the lyrics!

  • no one will ever come close to duplicating Adam!

  • loved this song played it over and over........

  • awsome band so original in their day ,and prob still are one of the great bands of all time.

  • 1981-Adam Ant = Chicks = Left-overs = ME!

  • Youtube arguments?! On an Adam and the Ants video?! Disgraceful. Shame on you.

  • Po co mu ta kamizelka?! xD

  • The Ant sound was amazing in this period, Antmusic, Kings, Stand n Deliver..........true pop classics!

  • people who slag off other people who have mental illness are cunts.

  • drums drums drums .fucking awsome

  • false acting!! we all agree, but my god what a bloody classic x. everyone is exatic with the beat!! and the beauty of adam, what a brilliant record and adam is a ledgend xx

  • dont hate on me cus tbf i am abit thick if i didnt know this but do they mime on top of the pops??O_O? i know sum ppl sound like they cudnt actually be singing it but they must be that good at it but do they relli mime?? x

  • This ain't a hate comment cos I love Adam and the ants, but I'm sure their miming. it sounds a tad too much like the cd version I have...

  • @BringMeSunshine31 No hate, they ARE miming. A common practise on Top of the Pops in the 80's.

  • @BringMeSunshine31 Exactly what I was thinking before I read your coment. Love the hell outa them but no way thats live. Exacly like the LP.

  • @BringMeSunshine31 they werent miming to a cd track this was 1980 but they all mimed to a backing track on top of the pops unless it was billed as an `all live show`

  • Aaah early 1981. 10 years old, tiswas, adam ant, the specials, villa top of the league, roy of the rovers, grange hill, panini stickers, slush puppies... memories.

  • You can't even see his wild front ear

  • proper and in a different league hats off to him original ,no one could stand toe to toe in his day english music at its best, he always has a place in my heart.

  • What a proper performance.............

  • Brilliant performance. Shame the comments below do not justify the man or his music.

    Grow up people.

  • Brilliant. First album I ever bought. I guess it's about time that Lady Blah Blah butchered and sampled the fuck out of this for our latest generation of automatons.

  • @alastair415 Hey, even I listen to Lady Blah Blah--no need to pit artists against each other. :)

  • @backinburntcity I've heard a total of 15 seconds of Lady Gaga. It's enough to wish she was working in a burger house in lieu of making music.

  • @TheGzeus I suggest you listen to more than 15 seconds, because in my opinion her strength is in her melodies (which she does write herself).

  • @backinburntcity I hated the overall sound (the sum of the parts) that I heard that I actually woke up early, drove 5 miles out of my way, and punched my friend because it popped up in his Last.fm stream.

This is a fact. Very visceral "OH GOD NO!" reaction to everything about it.

    I have disco music.

    I have techno music.

I have music by weirdos. I have 1500 hours of nearly any genre. her music makes me want to shove spoons into my ears. I leave stores over it.

    Fingernails on blackboard.

  • @TheGzeus --But to each their own. Adam Ant himself is a fan of Lady Gaga.

  • @backinburntcity He also broke down a door with a shovel to sleep with his trousers down in a basement.

At least _that_ was a one-time incident, which he regrets (iirc).

The Melvins like KISS. KISS makes me cry and laugh at the same time.

Musically abysmal, everything else about them is hilarious.

I can still like Melvins and want KISS to _stop_.

  • @alastair415 woah no need for that, plenty of our generation appreciate good tunes

  • @alastair415 nice one! - first album for me also, and single! From then on I made a point of buying 1 ant single a week until i had all the old ones.

  • Marco Pirroni - quality riffs

  • @CompactJam Says a guy who listens to trance music, lol.

  • @backinburntcity No I used to MAKE trance music years ago not listen to it. I make music and I've also slapped Adam Ant. In 1980 he ran up to me in the Electric Ballroom in Camden and tried to score speed off me and shout up a load of shit so I decked the little shit. He's only about four foot nine tall so he went easily. He's an idiot with a long history of paranoid schizophrenia and stuff. A few years back he came into a pub with a fake gun and got bust for it

  • @CompactJam Sure.

  • @backinburntcity Yes I'm quite sure. I was talking to Gene October the singer from Chelsea at the time and a drummer from another band. He'd just made his Dirk single and was full of it. He's an annoying little turd at the best of ties. I think he had some metabolical thing that made him irritating and mad. He was always under some kind of treatment or other. He did get institutionlised years later and I think he got order to attend psychiatric treatment for the fake fun incident too.

  • @CompactJam Uh-huh.

  • @backinburntcity Whatever - Stu Goddard was always an annoying little twat

  • @CompactJam You are such an idiot. Adam (or Stuart - whatever you want to call him) never took drugs in his life, and was totally against them, so your lies about his "druggy neurotic exploits" and the tall tale of you decking him when he tried to get drugs off you are a complete pile of bollocks. And plenty of people have played with him over the past 20 yrs: Rachel Stamp, Zodiac Mindwarp, Glitter Band, and his own band that he is currently touring with, just to name a few.

  • @shackler08 Hmmm you've obviously never met the little turd with legs or had to lisen to the shit that flows from his mouth but I have an update to what you call my lies. I have a friend who runs a recording studio in Stoke Newington called Zen Garden/Gun Factory who said he had the Ants in there recording a couple of months back. He said the band arrived four days before Stu and set up and got their shit right and then Stu turned up for about two hours, acted mad, and then went home again. :/

  • @CompactJam The Ants? They havent recorded or peformed thogether with Ant or as Adam & The Ants since 1982, and Ant and Marco Pirroni fell out a few years ago, so I know that isnt true either. Just give up with your stories and save yourself the embarrasment.

  • @shackler08 I have no idea who was on his line up. Only that he recorded in Zen Garden studios a month or two back under the name Ants with the inteniton of playing festivals. It's on Berwin Rd in Stoke Newington and their number is listed. The co-managers are called Trevor and Adam. Give them a call and ask before you talk more shit. Just because you don't want to believe a thing doesn't mean it isn't true. I have no idea what it means to the Ants and to be honest I don't care. :)

  • @CompactJam I'm not going to bother giving them a call about what some knob has posted on YouTube becuase I will not be the fool and believe your crap. Why waste your time going on Adam Ant videos just to post abuse about him? No one cares about what you think about Adam, they just came on this video to listen to some cool music.

  • @shackler08 No of course you won't because you'd have to shut your shit up then. If you don't want to check the facts out then please shut the fuck up. I personally couldn't give a flying fuck if he is back on the scene again or not but when my friend told me he had recorded it reminded me of this post and I thought I'd share the love with you but of course such a thing could never be true because ....... well just because. I don't even get what is so unbelievable about hitting the little man.

  • @CompactJam i've got a better idea, why don't YOU just shut the fuck up? like i said, no one gives a shit about what you think, and no matter what you say, no one is going to believe your stories. no one has been on this video hoping some little dicksplash, i.e. you, would be talking so much shit.

Yes, Adam has had his problems in the past, but thats behind him now and hes healthy again and doing what he does best, making music and im sure he doesnt give a fuck about what anyone thinks about it

  • @CompactJam oh my god, you are such an arsehole.

    learn when to quit

and your profile says you are 38, so you must have been 7 when he tried to get dugs off you and you beat him up.

Adam Ant trying to get drugs from a 7 year old then having the kid beat him up? very believable

  • @dirkwhitesox79 No you're an arsehole - we covered my profile ages ago. Pay attention. I have no idea what I ticked in my profile but my hair is greying now but I still have far more of it than he does. I think I'm a year or two older than Goddard. Please pay attention before you make a fuckwit of yourself. :)

    Next insult please

  • @CompactJam And yet despite his problems since then, everyone who was around in 80-83 loves him. He enriched peoples lives. For all the famous people you've met who will say that about you?

  • @CompactJam You arte SO fucking lucky im nowhere near you,you sad little tosspot,i dont give a fuck about what or whatnot Adam has ever said to you,but having a go at his mental state and that,i would fuck you up in a whole new way if i ever heard you talk like that about him around me,he is the biggest icon that the UK has ever produced, and you are what? I wish that you would walk down the wrong street one day,and never be heard of again you cunt!

  • @ebbhead20 I'm in Dalston in London if you want some. Just let me know and I'll come meet you and you can show me your moves. He's certainly not the biggest icon Britain has produced by a long shot. He was a fairly short lived pop single thing. As for me I have had a career that has achieved quite lot thanks but the purpose of my original comment on here was not to blow my trumpet or compare careers. Neither am I crticising people per se for having mental health conditions but he's a fuck wit

  • @CompactJam listen twat,i`m older than you, unless you`re like 50,and unless you`re Jet fuckin Lee,you will loose,i might be slower, but still remember how to put on the red shoes and dance the blues, make no mistake of that you pillock!

  • @ebbhead20 Of course I'm fifty just like Stu Goddard and I might just be like Jet Li - you never know. Anyway you got fat mouth so either do it or go drink a nice long cold glass of STFU. If you really want to fight me to protect the honour of Goddard's mental health then you go for it mate. No tools and no mates. We can just go round and round if you like. If you want a bit of background on me you can follow my links to see videos of me teaching unarmed combat.

  • @CompactJam well im 43,and also an old martial arts guy,and have studied a lot of systems over the years,i might be older but,i wouldnt even mind loosing just to see you bleed :-) wish i was in the UK so much right now!

  • @CompactJam making trance music is a dispicable thing to do

  • @Krimewave186 I know. I make no apologies. It's something you go through, like grotesque haircuts and strange shoes that you just can't justify later.

  • @CompactJam - And here you are on Youtube, dining out on your fantastic, fascinating, 100% true story. I guess you really showed him, huh?

  • @CompactJam So, you are aware that he (Stuart) , has a history of mental health problems? He in fact suffers with bi-polar, if you want a medical label for him. But you still chose to deck the "little shit"? Shame on you. If he'd had a visible illness or disability , would you have been so quick? Hit a man in a wheelchair next?. I was a huge fan back in the 80's before I had even heard of mental health problems, never mind knew Stuart suffered with it. And,why did he come to YOU for whizz?

  • @shangrila68 Because I was a drugs dealer at the time but I had no time for irritating little shits back then. We were too young to understand his psychological problems but they caused problems for all around him. In the opinion of many around him his artistic merits were nowhere nearly high enough to excuse his daily arsehole like behaviour. To us he was an over rated toss pot who surrounded himself with skilled musicians and sensations to hug the limelight - honest answer - he was a parasite

  • @CompactJam Your profile says you are 38, so in 1980 you'd have been 6 or 7 years old. Isn't that a bit young to do speed?

  • @lewisner Well don't believe my profile then. I'm not even British

  • @CompactJam it says your 38 on your profile????so you were 7 when this happened????adam ant doesnt have schizophrenia but bi polar very different illnesses.

  • @themachman19691 I can't even remember what I ticked on my profile :) but I assure you I'm older and far more boring although I still play live music. I don't know what Stu had but he was an unhappy soul and he pissed a lot of people off around him. I don't bear the man any ill now but he really was an iritating little fuck back then

  • @CompactJam fair do's mate

  • @CompactJam YOU FECKING LIEING LITTLE CUNT FUCK OFF, AND (DONT) INSULT MY INTELLEGENTS. YOU COCK EATING, SISTER SHAGING, LITTLE PRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @margatelad your intellegents? Do you mean intelligence by any chance? Why don't you go and learn to spell 'lying' and other easy words before you start pretending you have any intelligence? Surely an intelligent person like you could master an easy thing like the English language first. After all you must have had at least twelve years to practice now.

  • @CompactJam At least get the details right.

Adam is 5'7. What is the Dirk "single" that you mention? He made an album, Dirk Wears White Sox. He's not paranoid schizophrenic, he was diagnosed as bi-polar (or manic depression as it was formerly known).

Even if the story was true, people won't believe you if you fill your tales with basic errors.

  • @damedavid Thanks Dave - another late entry - I know all about White Sox thanks. Goddard may even be 57 but he seemed younger than me. He's certainly much smaller and he behaved like a hyper kid back then. I've already stated I don't know what his mental dysfunction was and to be honest I don't care. I still fail to see what is so unbelievable about thumping the little fuck though. He must have been smacked dozens of times back then by other people too. He was just irritating.

  • @CompactJam I'm a woman (a reader of Smash Hits who nicked the name "damedavid" as I'm a Bowie fan.

Don't understand why someone would want to troll a board. OK, we get it, you don't like him. And haven't we all acted like arses at one point in our lives?

Can't see Adam being a sulph fiend, but that was then, and this is now.

  • @damedavid No I have no idea why you are trolling the board either. Yes we have all acted as arseholes in our lives and I continue to this day. Thumping him wasn't one of my highlights for example and i still fail to see why it should stir such controversy. I didn't say he was a sulph fiend either. He shaped the events in his life not me and he made enemies pretty well everywhere he went. I have nothing against the man although I am less than impressed with his music.

  • @CompactJam Just read all of your pathetic posts on here, I think you'll find your the sad one, with you coming back all the time to insult Adam Ant, maybe you can't hide you do really like him? Grow up before you act 'big' on Youtube.

  • @CompactJam ...

As if you ain't an obvious 'TROLL'...

Find another to vid to post exactly the same thing on....Time and time and time again...

  • @CompactJam

Then why'd you watch it? You've no idea what an idol this man is. Then again, ignorance is bliss, isn't it.

  • @MrKates I'm not stopping you idolise anyone. Go ahead and think the sun shines out of his warm moist parts then. It's only music and he's not harming anyone with his music even if it doesn't appeal to me. Ignorant? Hmm I suppose you know much more about his druggy neurotic exploits round Camden than I do being as how you never met him or had to put up with his shit. I'm sure you can explain why no one has played with him for over twenty years now and his mental health care.

  • Great stuff, thanks for posting this. Loved Adam and the Ants when I was a kid. Didnt really appreciate it as I do now though!

  • @khisanth75 Thanks, no problem!

  • am i some where in Africa? loooving the tribal sounds

    love adam and the ants

  • My very first crush.... <3

  • Adam was and IS the sexiest man on the planet, OMFG I am like 12 again watching this!!!!

  • great Adam

  • Had to check this out...cauze it is one of Mr. Layne Staley's favs...we r family, still miss u...everyday...ml

  • @scoutmangler Did Layne really appreciate Adam ?? Oh that gives me chills ..I bet Adam Love to hear that !

  • I guess this is what "X" Factor actually looks like?

  • This record was number one in the indie charts for about a year before he crossed over to the mainstream in 1980.

  • I bloody love New Romantics

  • Hey, who's playing bass?

  • @PoisonTea4u That's Danny Kleinman, who Adam was in Bazooka Joe with. He also played with the Ants a couple more times, he makes an appearance in the 'Antmusic' vid (he gets a strange headshot in that one), and he directed a few Ant videos too.

  • And this was risque for our time....I still love Adam Ant!

  • @ferret13sj I think it the people in the audience are dressed so conserviatively and there he is rocking his little sexy heart out!

  • adam ant was amazing in the 80's wow

  • love you stuart!

  • its a great powerful song, this is my youth!!!!!!!!!!!

  • adam created such an unusual style of music all his own no one has been able to replicate because this music he felt!but he really doesn't drink or smoke so what does he do......creates music

  • Bloody quality...

  • Love the 80s and have tried to but never was able to get into Adam and The Ants music much really! I really want to, but I'm big on synth and bass use in 80s music and there's not much in Adam's music...

  • This one is for my nephew. What a great great song. Can bands ever emerge again like they did back then? The X-factor route looks ridiculous compared to back then.

  • wot a toos-wipe! No wonder he went bald.

  • Their best song :) definitive!

  • major lols at the 80s dancing of the audience behind the band!!

  • Hahaha yep. That's the 1980's Top of the Pops crowd without a doubt :D

  • So Amazing. They are legendary!!!!

  • King of the Wild Frontier Forever!

  • antmusic for sex people

  • no adam no jack lol

  • So relieved my mate told the who this was by i heard it used on Sky one to feature this weeks episode of Modern Family.

  • Didn't even notice until now that it's Danny Kleinman on Bass. Guess I was looking at someone else. :)

  • quality song - I was 9 and loved this.

beats the crap out of the papp out today

  • liking the fact theres practically nothing on his upper half! :D

  • Antpeople are the warriors. Woah!

  • He reminds me of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow.

  • hey i thought that too!! adam rocks

  • @MaggieTheCat01 Johnny Depp would be ideal to play adam in a film role of his life. Wish someone would do it!!

  • @MaggieTheCat01 No, Johnny Depp and Jack Sparrow should remind you of Adam Ant, since he was before them.

  • This song is in the movie 'Marie Antoinette'- when she and Fersen are together...cooooooool....

  • Amazinggggggggggggggg. And the music's really good too. :P

  • fantastic

  • This is lovely thank you.

  • My pleasure.

  • Oh baby, that is one fine sexy man. thanks for sharing.

  • No problem!

  • is it just me or is the beautiful people by marylin manson stolen a little from this?

  • I wouldn't be surprised if he was an Adam fan.

  • @backinburntcity Yeah. He is a big fan of bowie and adam and the ants. You can tell it in his style.

  • Its just you..... nothing alike at all.

  • It was said,in an American magazine,in the 1980's,that the reason we made the best music(the British),is that we did not have things to distract us,such as cable multi channel TV.We only had 4 TV channels,if you got bored, you made music of your own.Anyone wanting to break out in to the music scene,i would say, don't watch TV at all, just concentrate on your gift of making music!

  • Good advice, that's what I'm trying to do!

  • I'd agree with that but would add one other thought - with four channels, you HAD to be good to get an audience and HAD to work hard to get there. With hundreds, or thousands, of channels, you never need to develop to get airtime. Worse, no matter how good you get, the audience is so fragmented you can never build very far, so there's really no point in going much past where you started. All pain and no gain.

  • @2206411411 There was only 3 when this came out

  • @BAYCITYROLLERBOY Wow, whoever wrote that article was a prophet.

  • I'm 42 and was a mad Adam Ant fan when I was about 15, I only just discovered u-tube because I was trawling for Adam Lambert Stuff, and I'm so pleased because I never thought I would get to see some of this stuff again as we did not have a video recorder at the time.

    The internet is amazing.

  • This is why I love the internet too. I probably wouldn't have discovered Adam Ant myself without the internet until years and years later.

  • And I would not have been able to follow through on the few glimpses of Adam Lambert I got on UK TV to follow his progress too.

I'm only just now discovering all the treasure that U-Tube has to offer.

  • Then thank you miceinfreefall!

  • I don't get that waistcoat-take-off thing; he already has his chest showing! Haha

  • The first real band I git into when I was a sprog!!!!!! Still got the albums, and they still come out sometimes!!!!

  • Join the Insect Nation!

  • I was 10 when i first saw this on TOTP and TWO drummers WOW, blew me away, just how cool was that!!!!

  • WOW!

    Only one thig to say.

    Adam Ant COME BACK!!!!

  • crap this is just too f'ing amazing!! Brilliant!!!

  • I remember when this song came out 12 mates and I went down our main street at 10.30pm yes 10.30pm singing this quite loudly , not very but quite. Oh mad times

  • I wish I could do that with my friends. :(

  • @backinburntcity Why can't you?

  • @preciousbash They're not cool enough to like Adam Ant as much as me.

  • I have loved Adam and the Ants since the early days, this is the best song, and the b side press darlings is awesome!!

  • I'm 11, I love this song. Its just so differant from most songs you hear today.

  • There's never been music like it and I don't think there ever will be! It's a bittersweet thought.

  • I was living in Eastbourne at that time (1980) an in almost every disco or pub you went in, you could listen this music, unforgettable time indeed.

  • 超~カッコ良い

  • thanks is due to you its so good to see him perform and loved the link too the pics of adam were brill great taste in music too

  • No problem, and thank you! Always happy to spread the love around.

  • Comment removed

  • Genius.

  • Looks like so much fun-- wish I could've been there!

  • Me too. I drove from maryland to western pennsylvania before interstate 68 -60 was built in the 80's. I was jamming to this song and got pulled over for speeding near cumberland.

  • He has the sexiest eyes and cheeky grin - wow :)

    Amazing mover, Amazing artist

  • Total class - oh to have been in the TOTP audience that week! *dribble!*

  • Adam had bipoler before he was famous, it's why he went into music, according to himself anyway.

He is amazing and the way he moves!

Wish i could have lived then, instead of being born in the beige nightmare of the 90s!

  • Actually, he never said he went into music because he was bipolar. In fact, he said that he is at his lowest creatively when he is at his illest mentally.

  • I'm not getting into it, but he did also say that he got threw himself into to keep himself busy, as he thought that was helping him keep the illness at bay.

Anyway it doesn't matter, for whatever reasons he's still amazing (:

    Thanks for uploading these videos!

  • Understood. No problem!

  • Frontier. kings of the wild frontier.....The early 80s were amazing i loved every minute of it the music and fashion are some of the things that thatcher couldnt ruin. you had to be there lol it was even warm in the summers in those days.

  • the best always go a little gaga..i suppose they see things creativly then uncreativly

  • Dude has such great energy with his movements! You know he is into the song, not just going through the movements!
