  • This instrumental says it all. It is extremely touching.

  • I first heard this song when a friend recommended it to me back in the late 90's. Ever since, it has always been something I turn to for peace of mind and clarity of thought. Thanks for uploading it along with a nice bit of visual.

  • its sad to know that i only have one friend that love the cure as much as me. but im so greatful that their not mainstream, or everyone else will like them

  • @80smusicisawesome Treasure and cherish this friend. I have spent most of my adult life with no one close to share this awesome music.

  • @jam6va Now you have found a listener, sharing your treasure. My friend.

  • @80smusicisawesome I've been a Cure from the moment in 1989 my sister shared a tape of the Cure, from then on i delved into a new world. It defines my way of thinking, my way of loving, my way of standing in this world... I would not have it any other way.

  • OMG, this song makes almost cry! So deep and touching, love to listen to it when I travel by bus and I can admire the great sky. Sooo great, I love RS

  • @TheCureMEP Thank you for your great comment!! :)

  • @Arthounot You're welcome! I really love this song! I discovered it a few months ago (though I deeply love TC, there're always songs to discover) and I instantly fell in love with it! I'm glad to see that other Cure fans love it too! xoxo

  • Simply amazing!

  • @lisalisaqo Thank you Lisa... :)

  • i would call it, more then love...

  • this song makes me think of my jason, who i lost five years ago when he passed away. in fact, EVERY cure song makes me think of him, since it was his favorite group. i just cry and cry ...their music is beautiful and i'm glad he loved it so much.

  • @kbbyerly1 If i didn't respond to you earlier, here you have it;

How are you these days? I hope i didn't bring too much back in memory,..

    Regards,

    Keimpe

  • Bee ahh u ty full... ; - ]

  • ooh a pity i can't find this song :-( not even the album, i really like the song

  • @muts85 I think it was only on tape. I can however upload the rest of the songs, if you want. I won't make a nice video of it like this one. But still...

  • @muts85 It is not an album... more a try-out for Wish.

I have the mp3 if you wish to have it? I bought everything from The Cure, up untill even the Wrong Number record. So i think it's ok. ;)

  • @muts85 It is not on an album. It's from The Wish Tapes.;)

  • Why the fuck isn't this on an album.

It needs to be released properly, with a proper recording. Very good for a home demo from RS though.

I personally think it'd be worse with lyrics. It's beautiful because the AMAZING guitar melody sings for him.

  • this song makes me wonder what other gems The cure might be hiding from us.

  • @Rockguitarhero462 check out a boy i never knew, its heart wrenching

  • @Vallhala88 thank you. You should check put the cure's early boot leg stuff if you haven't already =).

  • @Rockguitarhero462 I will do when i have the time. Nice suggestion!

  • I love great guitar and and words to a song normally but this just takes you away u feel yours and Roberts feelings its like life unfolding..so words would have ruined this i think it speaks for itself. It is amazing and poetic and oddly depending on your mood its good for deep emotional times or to lift your spirits.JUST QUALITY....... thank you for sharing xx

  • This song takes to me another place inside my soul. A place so deep that it is hard to reach but this song can take me there and it soothes all the pain and hurt that it carried in this place. Such a very moving and ever so beautiful song!! :) The Cure is in doubt, Magical... The Cure!! :) ♥♫

  • ★★★★★

  • This is beautiful. With some lyrics, it would definitely be A-Side material, especially these days. I want this released NOW!

  • @Muldfeld I'd say the song means more without lyrics

  • so dreamy so beautiful

  • hasta q la SUBIERON.....Y LA ENCONTRE

  • It's a great instrumental but imagine how it would sound with Robert's voice and lyrics.

  • @TUTTEFRUTTEBOLLEKAS I think maybe Robert thought, it was at his best without, even when Robert is silent, he sings... ;-)

  • Good god this is awesome....

  • @wilhelm1974 Well, thank you...

  • @wilhelm1974 your underselling it....

  • the cure forever

  • Robert Smith is fucking amazing! There's just no way around it. How can someone NOT like The Cure. They are missing out.

  • Really nice soft touch. The versatiliy between the haunting sounds and the grace in their repatroire ceases to amaze.

  • I really wish Robert would release these songs again. There are so many great ones from the "Lost Wishes" album. I no longer have mine due to my stepfather many ,many years ago :(( but i am so thankful i can come on here and listen. Here's hoping for a re-release!! :))

  • fucking hell it never ends does it, there are SO many amazing cure songs, best band of all time by a mile

  • is he dead ?

  • @gheitew more information in a question means a more specific answer

  • @gheitew No Lol is not dead.

  • I had a bootleg copy of Lost Wishes and I let a friend borrow it and he scratched the thing to hell and back. I'm glad these songs are on here.

I can't even begin to describe what kind of memories they bring back....I love these songs.

  • @yetibait01 Well, if you want some of those songs restored let me know. I am glas to help. regards, K

  • @yetibait01 how did he scratch it?

  • @Arthounot It was on CD...he let lay in the back of his car.

  • @yetibait01 I've experienced the same thing lending stuff to friends. My own brother handed stuff back to me ruined. In my case, these people would take discs out of their car stereo and let them get scratched by leaving them on the dashboard or arm rest or something. I never lend stuff out anymore. Ever. I always make a copy.

    Sorry this happened to you.

  • @yetibait01 not friend, ex-friend

  • ME Too!!! 53, still going strong

  • @Zulu993 that's the spirit!

  • @wkfletch that made you 12?

I followed them through my both sisters, i played pornography a lot on record for the first time, when i was 12 :) I am now 33.

  • This song has always touched my soul so deeply. When i hear it , it makes me think of my grandparents and how they were my sanctuary from the storm that awaited me at my house growing up and how they are gone now but never from my heart and my soul. I think of them everyday and miss them always!! Another gorgeous song from a poetic genius, Robert Smith. The Cure is just pure magic, amazing and awesome! Robert is amazing in every aspect! I love it all! The Cure forever!!

  • @darkforest121 I sense the feeling of grandparents and the growing up, all of it...

Soon i will lose a lot of my grandparents, i lost one, too soon. Now the fact is, they will die soon. All three of them that are left... hmmm

Disintergration is probably my song in this..

But, The Cure also has songs after this...

Death is not the end... (dylan)

  • @Arthounot I am so sorry for the loss of your grandparent and the ones that lie ahead. I understand that pain like no other. I know that quote from Dylan and i too believe in that 100%. Thankyou for your kind words. and again, i am very sorry. Take care .

  • @darkforest121 so true!!!!!!!!

  • @darkforest121 When you describe the storm that was close, and your grandparents also were your shelter. Then i hear this song again. (Your post is a year old) . Warms my heart. I imagine the storm you felt (feel). When i am at my parents, i feel this storm, when i have to sleep. It is overwhelming. Somehow this song, makes me less afraid....

I thank you, for your open mind. Take care, Keimpe.

  • Samantha, You were the most beautiful happiness that ever caused me to dream, losing you is an awakining, that sleep fails to find again. I Will Always Love You~Robin.

  • @commissioner6 i don't recall answering you before.. But this is my response to you.. and i want to say... (i hate thank you's) I want to say... I, am really without words...

And i somehow know what you feel like, because i feel a,ot, but never ever can someome know how it is, when it actually happens.

    I feel for you,

    Taie care Robin...

    Regards, K

  • I'm 37 now, and an old Cure friend. This great music... the Cure on its best...

  • @seekeroftheeternal i'm 32 ;-)

  • @seekeroftheeternal I'm 34... Wish was my favorite era. The memories... Oh god, the memories...

  • @SystemVoid My too, Wish and Desintegration... a big smile on my face..

  • great tune and vid thanks for the post

  • My God, i wish you all the strenght of the universe.

    Take care.

    Regards,

    Keimpe

  • I've always loved this song. My dad passed away last month, and reading your comment I know how you feel. This song was made to cause deep emotions, i think...

    All the best, my friend.

  • @ChristinaThess Thanks for your remark, pure people are sometimes hard to come by....

    Regards,

    Keimpe

  • @ChristinaThess, I offer my condolences.

  • @JosephKuby Thank you, my friend.

  • my wife passed on the harvest moon last year i hear the cure i feel her be blessed and be well

  • @wiccianway be blessed and well

  • @wiccianway Blessed be! Remember that there is only Life.

  • @wiccianway, I offer my condolences.

  • @lbshah99, I offer my condolences.

  • @lbshah99

    I know what you feel

    You make me cry

    Thanks

  • @lbshah99 If i never respondedn, i am sorry. And thank you for your remark. It makes me think of my grandfather, who fought in the India referred to then as Netherland-India, (Indonesia)

He passed away, i feel very connected to him. As being father of my father, and sharing the same nsmae, being Keimpe whic is not so common. Searching for family history has been quite a part of my life, as habits and emptions run through the veins, it seems.

    regards,

    Keimpe

  • this will always be my favorite song

  • @spaceboy32 space...

  • Is Robert Smith a drummer? It seems that some "fans" accredit more of The Cure sound to Boris or Lol than to Robert himself. I for one couldn't care less about The Cure's drumming...

  • Great remark, i agree

  • Nooo he plays like everything but the drums. i dunno why people would do that cuz dont get me wrong, every member of the cure is incredible but if youre gonna give someone credit for their sound its robert.

  • i know what that song tries to say ..

    there's no words..thats true...

but i can feel it...wahhh....i love this song..this is my song............ <3

  • Wow, what an honest remark. all i can say, is: love this song and what it represents.

    love,

    Keimpe

  • @Arthounot okey ..i exaggerate.. a little :) haha

    but i love it :)

  • you mean 4 13 dream dude

  • yep, i guess i do

  • @beforethree weird though where 4:30 brings you. Youtube wise.

  • i like the effects u ve used in robert's photos

  • Well thank you, if you have XP, it's the standard Moviemaker, with 'old' effect.

  • Tnx

  • You're welcome ;-)

  • Comparing Lament to Freakshow... Lament's beat was programmed by Robert on a drum machine... check Join the Dots' booklet :)

  • I know this fact, you can even hear it.

  • I hope robert brings these back soon

  • Comment removed

  • Great Song. Thanks for uploading. I have never heard this song before.

  • no problem, thanks for subscribing :)

  • DO YOU KNOW WHAT CD THIS SONG IS ON?

  • Actually it;s not on a CD. It's just a demo tape.

  • Very beautiful song and rare one! Was this recorded during Wish sessions?

  • Yup!

  • Why is that during Wish, the band had just the most amazing riffs and hooks. Soon as boris and porl left, the band just....skydived. Something about boris's "heartbeat" really motivated the guys to make great structurally interesting compositions. Jasons can't do polyrhythms or interesting beats, so it forces the songs to be very "chordy".

  • Somewhere i jave to agree with the drumming, apart from that, i left the discussion about the drumming part far away, since my most memorable Cure tunes are also with one of the baddest drummers you can imagine. Lol tolhurst.

Maybe Curists have to agree that drumming is important in the Cure, with Jason they just went basic, this is seen i also Robert downgradig the 5 piece to a 4 piece now. (at one time they were even 2 (1982) or 3 (2000)

  • i dont think lol t. was that bad. I have a bunch of cure bootlegs where he was the drumer and he did a terrific job, a mean, he is not boris at drums, but as an artist, he was so great, to me, he is a legend too and he deserves all the credits.

  • That was what i was saying, I enjoy Mr. Tolhurst his drumming a lot, that's why i don't see a reason to burn of Mr. Newguy that much. I think he is a great Cure-drummer.

    Regards,

    K

  • The reason for flamethrowing treatment is just that this guy is just not for the job in this band. If I were the only one to think that way, I'd simply shut it up and keep it for me. From the first time I saw him in 1995 onstage, I knew he wouldn't match and the chemistry would be odd. Put it in any way you want : if people are upset about the "Jason case", there might be good reasons, the first one of these being that must of them discovered the band before 1996... Old boring "fans"...

  • He reminds me of Tolhurst, to put it that way...

  • Arrh, com'on ! That's on of the funniest thing I've ever read here concerning drumming in this band... Have you ever heard a single concert with Lol playing off ? I haven't. Lol was not a great drummer, right, but AT LEAST, he did his job (and pretty well, given the circumstances)... That's not the case of every drummer who played in this band. Even Vince Elly, who played a few concerts in 1984, was better with no training than Cooper after 14 years slaughtering the jewels of the crown...

  • Well, i don't agree :)

  • Don't care... That's your opinion, I've got mine. I've got my ears and they are good judges. Being curious anyway : please give me the date of a concert when Lol f**ked up, if you can. Don't say 24/06/1981, anyone with a heart would have...

  • Comment removed

  • It's not about f#cking up that much. I just think Tolhurst was a very simple drummer. Just as Jason is. But what the hell. I'm not a drummer. And surely i think Jason does a good job on 4:30.

  • He was not good technically, but who cares ? At least he made it great... Certainly not the case of the current drummer.

  • @Widthatnut i must havebeen around 1989

  • Certainly not, and I don't care. I would have a few years ago, but now, I wash my hand about what they become...

  • no one gives a fuck what you do...

  • lol, so true!

  • @Widthatnut Ok ok, now i understand a lot more fdor our old discussion... i actuallyt agree with you. Why didn't i agree earlier...

I was holding TheCure muich higher then they were kmaybe.

    But apart from that, still...

    Let's simplify the discussion.

    My question is:

Apart from the drumming, what has changedi the music that made the focus on drumming.

  • With my last remark, also The Cure acknowledges Wish to be their most popular effort yet, funny to say that before and after they never wanted another Wish to come true ;-)

  • nice comments

  • And how was the cooking? ;)

  • Simply the best instrumental song ever!

  • It's wonderful, full of life and retrospect.

  • this ..is ...theres no words to describe this ...beautiful ...is not enaughh

  • It is one of its kind. thank you for your remark....

  • No words..

  • @kozzmicblue al littlre late, but thank you :)

  • This is delicious! I need to get an MP3!

  • i have it :)

  • Wow

This is a very poignant song, even by Cure standards o_0

Srsly, the mood is as epic as it gets

And I say "epic" a lot, but it sums this song perfectly

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this, thanks for sharing!

As for Wish, it definetly holds a special place in my heart

It might not mark as big of an evolution as their previous entries, but it's a strong batch of songs nonenthless

Plus it's one of the best "guitar" records ever done IMO. The harmonies, the textures, everything sounds fantastic.

  • In my opinion it is outworldy, if it is ever a word...

    regards,

    K

  • You nailed it, and you get my prize of The Post..

No grandure unfortunately, Take it in your heart

    :)

    regards,

    Keimpe

  • I forgot to say thanks... thank you

    :)

  • You're very welcome. How did the guests like the song? :)

  • omg i remember listening to this waayyy back...cant believe i found it :D

  • It brings back those memories doesn't it.

    K

  • HUGS

  • Hugs to you

  • Just like at night, when you look up at the stars, and you notice some shine brighter than others, this is true of Robert. He has a gift that he shares with us. I am often mezmorized with his music. I think, ya, thats what I was feeling!! If you listen ever so close to the lyrics, Robert is telling you a story. The story is called "life." It reminds me of the movie Benjamin Button but in music. We are all so special and every moment counts, Robert captures these moments in music. TY

  • Thanks for your post!

    Regards,

    Keimpe

  • I love your way of thinking and approaching life...

  • Amother thank you from me, as i go through the posts.

    :D

  • the dream album wasent a dissapointment its a beutifull album sorry to dissagree

  • I think 4:30 is a good album as well.

  • this is roberts song from lost wishes

  • Great melody ... Really great! too lyric!

  • with record i mean tape...geesh

  • This is what the real Cure is for me...what they do these days totally lacks this magic...unfortunately:(

  • totally agree with you! The latest album "4:13 Dream" (2008) was a true disappointment.

  • I don't agree. It is a development of the Cure some people find disagreeable. I love the album. Although deep in my heart i always hope they return to the beginnings of the 90's in sound. I know they never will.

No album of the cure is the same, except maybe boys don't cry and three imaginary boys ;-)

    regards,

    Keimpe

  • Actually, Boys Don't Cry is a sort of best of that includes the Cure's first three singles and the best tracks from Three Imaginary Boys (1979).

  • That i know, hence my remark, and my little wink on the end.

    regards,

    Keimpe

  • Why was it for you, i saw the new release as a form to old anbd new cure, some kind of mixture of both. Maybe you think it is too "made up"?

Piondering about this question, because i really like the album, although i don't listen top it as much as i did with disintegration, Wish oh hell, name them all....

  • Can you describe this magic? I know there was/and is magic... What lacks in your opinion?

    K

  • Robert Smith is such a technical genius!! The entire Lost Wishes Tapes and Disintegration prove this!

  • I can't believe that this is a B-side and Freakshow is an Studio album song

  • I completely agree with your comment

  • There a lot of sides to the cure in my opinion, this song proves also, it was a creative period.

  • It's not a B-side, it's a "No-Side". The only official recordings for this is a limited edition promotional tape. The "Lost Wishes" EP was never marketed. But talking about "Freakshow", you're right in a way ! ;-)

  • I like Freakshow :|

It reminds me of the days of Japanese Whispers!

What are your ideas about it

  • "Freakshow" is a pure waste... Can't see what reminds you of "Japanese whispers" in there... It's just an attempt of bad "Why can't I be you ?" with no humour (and 1987's talent).

  • Well, i enjoy the song nevertheless opinions, the problem with the cure isalso, a sort of nostalgia that listeners seem to have with every new songs they make.

  • It's not nostalgia, but rather facts. When you mean "Japanese Whispers" what comes to my mind is "Just one kiss" or "Lament" (for other people it may be "Let's go to bed")... These are just matter of taste.

  • Lament, oh ...

    no words

    K

  • Comparing "Lament" to "Freakshow" would make you the most paid stuntsman in Hollywood if you'd ever succeed in convincing me in such an impossible exercise. As you say : "No words"...

  • When someone mentions Lament, i have no words. Not comparing the two. That would indeed be a weird thing to say.

  • WHATS LAMENT AND FREAKSHOW

  • What's the question ?

  • @LuicfersLust666 i can't believe it, i must be dreaming, A man walked Cold and blue Into La Ment The sky coloured perfect And it's the same sway, yeah it's the same slide, it's the same stare, oh it's the same smile. Yeah it's the same but... It's not quite right
  • @LuicfersLust666 It's ...

  • @Widthatnut facts and music

  • Beutiful, I like this kind of songs from the cure, they just take me to the stars!, another similar is Plainsong.

  • Maybe the whole album of plainsong?

  • I think it will be re-released with Wish because all the CDs are being remastered with rare material being added. Next up is Desintegration and then its Wish!! We should write about this on fan sites etc and get everybody to ask The Cure to re-release this stuff!! I'm sure they will. Thanks for reading and take care all you wonderful Cure fans out there!!!
