@MentalChainsawDude Claw hammers take too much effort and will not be as quick. A sledgehammer is quicker than a claw hammer but that is not satisfactory either
I used to fix pallets for a living. Believe me you dont sucessfully use a claw hammer to remove boards or dismantle, unless you arent bothered about smashing the boards and dont need to re use them. They always crack (unless the boards were nailed with 1 inch panel pins LOL)
that took way too long. A reciprocating saw is best if you are trying to keep whole boards. A long enough 2x4 does the same thing the pallet buster does. I've used both and would rather use a 2x4.

I agree, I used to refurb pallets on piece work. In the factory we had to get our own boards from old scrap pallets-in our own time-so we soon recognised the quickest method. An oak bar about 1 1/2 inches sqaure with the 4 corners chamfered off. place under the boards and stamp on the bar with your boot VERY hard and fast. This REDUCES breakage of the boards. You need the sudden snap off to break the annular ring nails that pallets are generally put together with.
Wow, this bar would really come in handy. I'm planning on getting another load of pallets for garden beds. This is much sweeter than a hammer, LOL. Still have those pesky pallet nails that need to be removed, but I do have a 7 year old that does a pretty good job on those :o).
my granny could really do with one of those- me i bought a sabre saw does it in half the time and i dont look like schwartzenegger well only in my dreams
Why dont you make a video of how you can break a normal size pallet only using your feet. It would be good for the viewers and save them money. Please drop me a line when you have put it online. Please take care you do not injure your feet.
I did it every day for a living (in Darlington LOL). Your tool is a nice idea but too complicated compared to a simple oak bar. Time is money on piece work pallet repair. If U want to remove blocks on 4 ways, use an axe (seriously) at 1.30 in your vid. Crack the blocks HARD and the axe will take them off in a few seconds, often cutting the nails. I have a pair of 2 ways in the yard, I will do a vid. PS I wore steelie clogs to protect feet from nails in boards-once was enough....
looks like your breaking your balls ! fuck that shit !

Not sure about that. Some of those pallets are a beast to dismantle.

Yes the tool doesn't do the job so you drop it and go at it with your hands, great tool!
Just chuck it into the crusher and then chip it.

@bargainbox We just throw the whole damn pallet in the fire. No pry bar, no chainsaw, nice fire.

@firewoodguy2009 I think the point is to recycle something without using power tools

were can i get free palets
in lebanon,pa area

All you need then is a table saw and power supply in the boot, with space for fire wood, this makes the bar sound even better.thank you.

Interesting tool, though my table saw would rip through this in 30 seconds. With a lot less effort.

It really does work though! Someone must have worked out angles and leverage points
busterpiggle 2 years ago
Try it with a crowbar. It's easily takes two minutes to get one plank off.
I ordered one of these from Global Industrial and need to warn my fellow Canadians that UPS shipping and "brokerage fees" cost more than the tool!
I haven't even got it yet!
busterpiggle 2 years ago
I cannot believe that that was their advert!?! Over 2 minutes to break up a single pallet???
glenmaragon 2 years ago
Yes thats correct ! So could you please show us all how you can do it faster using only a bar. Please

Now thats a cracking idea, the wife might complain about draging the palletts over the clean carpet but what a fire it would be!
