I would not say he can't sing. I think it is just kind of his style to not be too fussy about the voice perfection. I like his presence, his big production, and his formality. It all some across very strange and interesting to me.
i think if he's got a gravelly enough voice to make this sound authentic, but he can't be bothered to actually learn the lyrics. the one time he did take a prolonged look away from the sheet, he flubbed the line which should have been:
Everybody wants a box of chocolates ***and a long-stemmed rose***
watch from 0:50 to about 1:26 where appears to notice his mistake.
I have to be honest about this guy. He can´t sing. He is not even close to the least acceptable result and im not talking about his accent. He has a great voice but he just cant sing.
I was introduced to Cohen by this song from the 80's movie Pump Up the Volume I was a Devoted follower of Cohen since.
This guy is Close and an Awsome Showman but the pain in Cohens Voice, that KNOWING acceptance that Life is simply what is it, is what made Cohen the Man that we was and why the Poet with a broken voice was the beloved singer we all love.
My three year old son froze and turned to the monitor and listened to the entire song with his mouth open. This rendition of the song has a quiet, understated, horrible beauty.
bravo to Bleimer, I loved it!

I think he is terrible .... I like more the original version. he looks like he's reading without understanding anything.
P.s. My accent is less terrible :)
P.p.s This version is the proof that Cohen, even if he isn't a great singer, can give a sense to what he's reading (or singing)

I agree this, fellow doesn't look like he knows the song.
